The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 141

crying out. The only thing Corporal Schofield could do was cry and sob as he knelt by the river where he had just dragged himself out.

She cries for the river, for her friend, Blake, and cries for the baby she meets as she crosses behind enemy lines.

Through his sobs, he realized that the first light of the morning sun was slowly forming behind the leaves of the trees, from the forest he was in. He slowly lost all hope of reaching the camp of the Devons. He cried for 1600 lives that would be lost due to his failure.

His sobs were broken by the soft and distant melody that reached his ears. He looked around, trying to find the source of the music.

He slowly dragged himself to his feet as he walked towards the melody. He stumbled slightly due to the cold and frozen nature of his limbs, having survived being adrift by the frozen river water.

"...there is no sickness, hard work, or danger/In the bright land I am headed to..." He listened as he walked through the forest and peered out into the open.

The music had its source, finally, as he saw a young soldier in British military uniform, standing in the middle of a field, singing to what looked like an entire company of British soldiers.

"I went there to see my father, and all the people I love who have gone." The song he sang continued.

Hope appeared in his chest, and Lance Corporal Schofield closed his eyes to enjoy the intoxicating feeling.

Vaguely, in the background, he listened as an officer shouted, "Pass D, Get out!" Just as the last verse of the song reached him.

"I'm just going, Jordan! I'm just going home!"

His daydream was split apart by a voice coming directly from before him.

"You okay, buddy?" The voice said.

Schofield opened his eyes. He saw a pair of legs in front of him.

Another voice quickly asked, "Where are you from?"

"He might have the wind."

"Well, he's not one of us."

"He's soaking wet."

"Fuck him, let's go get him and take him with us."

Realizing the men were talking to him, Schofield muttered softly, "Must find the Devons."

"What did he say?" A soldier questioned the group.

"What is that, buddy?" The others asked him.

"Both Devon. I need to find the Devons." He said clearly, while staring at the people around him.

There was a pause as the men looked at each other, and then one of the soldiers replied, "We are Devon."

Schofield looked at them, disbelieving in his face. "You are Devon."

Personal answer, "Yes, Corp."

He's glad he did. Since he could see that [1917] would redefine military action films and cinematography in general, he was skeptical over Will Evans' meteoric rise in the industry. However, after witnessing The Piece De Resistance, which his studio expertly produced, he eventually became a believer.

'This will change everything. Once this reaches the screen, the industry will no longer be the same.' He crows internally. He can't wait for the awards ceremony, as he believes the film will sweep through many awards.

He watched the film continue, and Lance Corporal Schofield hurriedly walked towards the front line. The preparation of a chaotic battlefield, the people marching on the edge of the trench, illustrates the urgency in which leg envoys work.

The tension was evident, and Anthony Macy could see that his colleagues, other journalists from around the world, were sitting on the edge of their seats, he said, waiting for a meeting between the soldier and the mysterious Colonel McKenzie finally happens.

He watched as the soldier fought his way through what looked like a barracks, and he finally made it into the guarded command center. The faint sound of artillery fire and the swarming crowd of soldiers he had passed by, gave confidence how close the soldier was to being unable to stop the bloodshed that threatened to follow, if he failed in his mission.

After many struggles, the frightened yet determined warrior barged into the barracks.

"Tell Ivins and Murphy to lead their men to the left wing. Concentrate everything there." He listened as the officer, who was behind him, gave orders to the other people standing around the single table in the barracks.

"Colonel McKenzie!" Standing tall, Schofield finally announced his presence.

Listening to the intrusion, the enigmatic colonel finally turned around, and to please everyone in the hall, rumors of Michael Robert Elrod's cameo finally surfaced.

Anthony Macy smiled, once again, because he knew that this would be one of the highest-rated films, and he was sure that the reviews his peers would give him were no less than his own reviews.

Sitting in the gallery of The Palais des Festivals et des Congres, with his team, Will could not hide the joy from his face.

June and everyone in the cinema loved the movie so much. Lucas Amspoker cried because of the standing ovation he received after the film ended. And he can clearly see the sincerity with which people really respect the film and the work that is behind its production.

She is unsure about the award ceremony, and Will must calm her down in order for her veins not to rupture because she unknowingly puts herself under pressure.

Will knew that the film would win many awards at the prestigious ceremony, but secretly, he also felt nervous about it. After seeing the audience's reaction after the film, she lost her slight nervousness, and she became hopeful for this ceremony.

The host was Bobby McTaggart, a British comedian and late-night host.

"Welcome! Welcome to the 2012 Annual Cannes Film Festival! We are all gathered here, something we all love and enjoy! The cinema! Or that's what the show organisers want you to believe. But we all know why we're all here." The comedian started while trying to melt the mood with a joke.

"We're all here for food, of course. There's nothing else. Whahuh? Do you think I'd say that we're here to show the world our luxury? Well, we do, too, but the food is primary. It's a fact of life." He's kidding.

The audience laughed, and they were comfortable with what slowly turned into a great show.

"By the way about luxury, we have the latest big modern Hollywood star among us tonight. Will Evans! Leave it to him, everyone!" He said as the spotlight was directed at Will for a moment. The gathered celebrities clapped to the young director as he stood up and waved at them, bowing slightly. Then, after the dudu came back, he listened to what Bobby McTaggart had to say.

"This man has stayed away from feasts and feasts like the plague, only appearing if on certain occasions like this. At his age, I jumped from one party to the next, like I was choosing what t-shirts were for. Wear. But, man! Do I know why he avoids parties so much? He always works. I mean, [Blair Witch Project], followed by [Sherlock Holmes], [500 Summer days], and then yesterday's resistance, [1917]. He even wrote a book, [Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone], and all this in just one year of his debut in the industry. I am more than confident that the piece de resistance displayed yesterday will win many "Awards will be presented by the only Marilyn Morse!"

Will sees that the beautiful blonde actress coming down from the foyer to the left of the stage is a legend of the industry. She could easily resemble Marliyn Munroe, the legendary Hollywood actress who was famous during the golden age of Hollywood, from Will's previous world.

He stepped next to Bobby McTaggart, giving him a light hug on stage as he stepped onto the podium. "Good night everyone. It's great to host this prestigious event's award ceremony. It is a pleasure to present appreciation to the newer and fresher faces of this ever-growing industry. Let's start today with the first award for today. ,Prix du screenplay." The sound of a roll drum was heard as he opened the envelope in his hand.

"The Prix du screenplay winner, for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, went on to a fantastic war film, [1917]. Please give them a round of applause!"

Will could not help but smile from his face as the film won his first award for the night. He is sure to win more.
