Chapter 30 If only

"Ve, didn't you call your husband?" asked Raymond after the departure of the doctor who examined him.

Velicia looked at the clock hanging on the wall of the room. Then she smiled bitterly considering that it was not her husband who helped her, but Raymond who always came at the right time, where he was in need of someone's help.

"She must still be working Ray," Velicia replied softly while smiling bitterly.

"He can let Ve go home. There was no way he would let his wife who had suddenly entered the hospital alone there," Raymond said a little emotionally.

Velicia smiled at Raymond, she appreciated Raymond so much that she thought she was worried about him.

"Is he probably going to?" velicia asked with a bitter smile.

Raymond scrunched his forehead. He felt astonished, not understanding what Velicia said.

"What exactly is Ve?" ask Raymond to investigate.

Suddenly Velicia's tears just dripped down. He had no intention of showing it to Raymond, only that his tears came out by themselves.

Velicia quickly wiped her tears and she shook her head in response to Raymond's question.

"There's nothing, Ray," Velicia replied with a smile.

Raymond looked pityfully at Velicia who forced her smile on that pale face of hers.

"Ve, we promised to be friends. So, we can share the problem, who knows I can help you," said Raymond a little pushy.

"Later Ray. I can't seem to tell you now" Velicia said, smiling at Raymond.

"Sorry Ve, I just want to know. Does your husband know about your illness?" raymond asked what was on his mind.

"Why are you asking about that Ray?" 

Velicia did not answer Raymond's question, she instead turned to ask Raymond.

"I don't mean anything Ve. It's just that if your husband knows your illness, he should give you food and drink that don't aggravate your illness" Raymond said firmly.

Velicia smiled bitterly again. In his heart he said that what Raymond said was the same as what he thought at that time.

Thinking about it only disappointed him. And now she was even more disappointed that her illness was getting worse because there was no understanding from her husband and mother-in-law.

"Ray.you say that like I'm just sick," Velicia said, chuckling to divert their conversation.

"Ve, I'm serious. Even my wife and I haven't had any offspring until now. But, we never sacrifice our health" said Raymond, who this time said softly to Velicia.

Velicia felt cornered. He felt that he had to share with people who fared the same as him. But unfortunately he is not ready to open all the stories of his household life.

"People's minds are different Ray. I promise I'll tell you, but not now Ray" said Velicia, giving her a sweet smile that adorned her pale face.

"Yes, I can't force you to tell me now. But I'm ready to listen to your story anytime. I wait for your promise Ve," Raymond said with a sigh after listening to Velicia's reply.

Velicia nodded weakly and she just remembered that she was going to work.

"Ray, don't you go to work?" velicia asked as she stared fixedly at Raymond.

Raymond smiled at Velicia and said to her,

"I don't work today."

"What's helping me?" asked Velicia who was feeling sorry for Raymond.

"Not Ve. You don't have to worry. I've had my permission," Raymond replied with a sweet smile to Velicia so that she wouldn't be overwhelmed by her guilt.

"Go home Ray. I can be alone here. You don't have to worry, there are a lot of nurses here who can help me" said Velicia who felt very guilty to Raymond.

"You kicked me out Ve?" raymond asked with an intense look in Velicia's eyes.

It's just that he doesn't want to take Raymond's time, let alone that he already knows that Raymond is not alone anymore, he already has a wife.

"It's not so Ray. I just don't want to waste your time. And surely you've been waiting for your wife at home" Velicia replied in a weakened voice.

Seeing Velicia getting weaker made Raymond unable to bear to leave Velicia alone without anyone accompanying him.

"Well Ve, I'll go home if your husband comes here" Raymond said firmly as if indisputable.

"But Ray-"

"My wife is not home. He was going with his friend. So, instead of me at home alone mending here just accompany you. That's if your husband can't come here. But if your husband can come here, I'll leave right now."

Raymond interrupted Velicia's words that would refute his wishes.

Velicia again let out a heavy sigh. She did not think that Raymond could force her to contact her husband.

Velicia's hand tried to grab her bag that was on the table next to her bed.

Raymond immediately helped to get Velicia's bag.

"Thank you," Velicia said softly as she looked at Raymond.

Raymond just nodded his head and smiled sweetly at Velicia.

"Hello, Mas, I'm now at the clinic in the home area. I need to be treated here. Can Mas Ferdi come to accompany me now?" velicia asked in a weak voice to her husband who was across the street.

You were treated at the clinic? How can? Wh why? ferdi's consecutive questions were asked to Velicia.

"Later I'll tell you. Can Ferdi come now?" velicia asked back expectantly.

It seems that now you can't. I try to go home in time so I can come there before night, Ferdi said, looking at the clock that was coiled on his right hand.

Velicia closed her eyes, her heart was in great pain hearing the answer from her husband. Even in her hospital stay, her husband seemed more concerned about his job than his wife who was sick and needed it.

"How's Ve? Can your husband come now?" raymond asked after Velicia turned off her phone.

Velicia smiled and nodded her head. In his heart he said,

You're so nice, Ray. Why aren't you the only one who's my husband? Ah... What did I say? Raymond could not be my husband. Never mind Ve. Don't dream! Even your own husband is ignoring you right now.

"Does this mean I have to go now?" asked Raymond, chuckling.

Velicia smiled and said in her weak voice,

"Go Ray, your wife must be waiting for you at home. Don't leave him alone."

"Like me," said Velicia softly to connect her words.

Ryamond's ears heard it. Indeed, Raymond's sense of hearing is very sensitive. He heard all the sounds despite being noisy.

"Ve! It looks like I'm here until your husband comes" Raymond said, sitting next to Velicia's bed.

"Go home Ray. I'd be very angry if you still stayed.  I just don't want to trouble you, Ray. Understand..," said Velicia with a pleading gaze at Raymond.

Raymond sighed, he felt defeated at Velicia who behaved like that. He got up from his seat and said,

"Alright, I'll go Ve. Remember the doctor's message. And don't forget to tell me" Raymond said before stepping away.

"Ah I just remembered.I hope you will still contact me if you need my help. Whatever Ve is, I'll help you. Remember!" raymond said before leaving Velicia's room.

Velicia nodded and smiled at Raymond. After that Raymond completely walked out of the room leaving Velicia alone in the room.

Seeing that Raymond's back had already disappeared shut the door of the room, Velicia said in her heart,

If you were like Raymond Mas, I wouldn't be stressed and wouldn't be sick like this right now.
