Gerald looked up. "What's up?"
“We have a meeting between old friends tonight. It happens every few months. I've never mentioned it before—but since we've met each other, I'm telling you!
"Also, Sharon will be there." Lilian held back a small laugh. “Think: Back in high school, you would rank first in the class, and she came in second. You two are so close—even, you're after him, aren't you?”
Gerald did not answer.
Sharon Leslie, old friend from High School. It is true that they got along well at the time.
It's true that Gerald harbored feelings for her, but it's happened before.
Is he chasing her? He did not dare.
Initially, during their first year of high school, they often chatted together. Then, even on some occasions when he tried to start a conversation, he did not reply. So, they're separate.
Three years have passed in an instant.
“Come... You know, last month, Sharon's boyfriend bought us a meal, and then the topic of you came up! Sharon wanted to know what Gerald did—no one could answer her back then, but now....Are you free tonight?”
As he spoke, Lilian peered at Gerald, looking for a hint of despair.
But no such expression could be found on his face.
"Tonight? Yes, I can do it!”
“Good, good. In that case, you should come—let everyone see you!” Secretly, Lilian pulls out her phone and steals a photo of Gerald, which she sends to the chat group for the meeting:
"Guess who this bozo is?"
"Who? Look familiar... I must have seen it somewhere before!”
“Sama is here, but...he doesn't look like a person worth remembering! Ring a bell with one of you?”
Sharon Leslie: "Is that Gerald?"
"Oh yeah!" Lilian spitting. “You two were friends in high school, huh? Only saw you once—that's Gerald!”
"Oh yeah!" Lilian spitting. “You two were friends in high school, huh? Only saw you once—that's Gerald!”
They have a lot of former schoolmates in Mayberry— there are only a handful in their class. Maybe they won't recognize Gerald, but they're guaranteed to have heard his name before.
If he were to appear at the meeting, he was sure he would be a hot topic tonight.
Just look at the furore in group chat now…
Sharon Leslie: “Are we friends in high school? I don't remember anything like that!”
Lillian's fingers floated above the key board. "Darling! Find yourself a hunk in Sunnydale now, so your ex doesn't matter anymore? ”
Sharon Leslie: “Go from here! What do you mean 'former'... How about you take her to our meeting? We have to catch up with— anyway, we are all old friends!”
"Good!"
Lilian turned to Gerald. “Everyone would love to see you again—especially Sharon. He even said it himself. Since you have time tonight, just come for the meeting! If you are worried whether you can afford it, I'll protect you for now!”
Gerald was just about to turn it down. To be honest, he didn't make many friends back during those years. He had nothing to talk about with everyone there.
But now that Lilian had said all that, she could not say no more.
“Alright, then tonight!” Gerald agreed.
Lilian gave him a spot, then continued on his way.
Gerald shook his head in despair. “Lilian taught at my new school. After all, this is a small world! ”
He had planned to take a walk in the city, but talking to Lilian had ruined his mood for it.
Well, it was noon, and he was hungry, so Gerald kept going.
At the school gate, there were three children in tattered clothes, perhaps four or five years old. They peek inside.
“Is this school, brother? It doesn't seem like what Ms. Queta was talking about..”.
