Lilian started sobbing. “I'm really sorry, Hayward.. I'm sorry... I shouldn't have lied to you!”.
“Hah, so it was rented by Lilian. Even IC numbers don't match! Let's see who owns it. Wait...yeah? Gerald?!” Sharon froze, stunned until her mouth opened wide.
"This ... This must be a mistake, right?" Sharon's eyes widened in disbelief.
“Master, Crawford, you're here! I just spoke to Ms. Cole, and I didn't notice you. My apologies!" The surprised Quartney immediately apologized.
“It's okay, Miss Weaver. After all, I can leave after signing, right? ” Gerald smile.
"Yes, Mr. Crawford, but don't you need to go over the details first?"
"Don't worry. Besides I've been staring at him all day, ” Gerald replied and chuckled.
He walked up to Sharon and took the contract from her.
"The car, is it really yours?" Sharon questioned Gerald with questioning eyes.
It was the closest he had stood next to Gerald since high school, and all he had was a confused feeling in his heart.
“Whose do you think it belongs to? I've said it's mine, but none of you believe me!”
Gerald replied calmly, his eyes piercing right into Sharon's soul.
He then patted Lilian on the shoulder.
"Let's go. I'll send you home first.”
"OKAY. Just drop me off at the station; I'll be back to my hometown tonight, ” Lilian replied.
Gerald was pleased with it, but Lilian did not hate Hayward at all.
“Gerald, this car must have spent a bomb, right? It's a great view!”
Liam walked up to them and smiled at Gerald.
No matter how much the others ridiculed him, Liam knew being friends with him would be beneficial because he personally knew Elena and drove such a luxurious car.
“About 22,000 dollars!” Gerald replied, smiling politely.
Meanwhile, Liam's phone rang.
"Dad? Okay, I'll be back now!”
Liam hung up. “Hei, Gerald. I have to go now; it's nice to meet you! I'm sorry, Douglas and Leila, there's something going on, and I can't take you guys home.”
"Huh?" Leila's dumbfounded.
They were supposed to hitchhike from Liam back home because Douglas didn't dare drive his car.
Meanwhile, Gerald had already started his car engine, and Lilian was sitting next to him.
Douglas then turned to Leila and asked. "Leila, why don't we ride an Uber?"
“Uber? Look at you, is taking Uber all you know? You bought a car, and you didn't even drive it, and now I have to ride Uber!” Snapped Leila, pissed.
"I'll give you a ride to the station!" Gerald smiled and gestured to them.
Gerald just felt it wasn't right to leave them there like that.
Leila glanced at Gerald hesitantly and then jumped into the car. He peered towards Lilian and felt a hint of jealousy. He wanted the co-pilot seat to be his.
"Damn!" Douglas cursed softly.
"What do you think you're doing?" Gerald looked at Douglas.
"Whatchu mean? I got in the car!”
“When I say it, I mean those two women. Not you, Douglas. And the money you owe me, don't forget to pay! Gerald locked the door.
The last time Gerald tried to help her, she was humiliated in return, and this time, she would definitely not offer any more help.
As he watched them leave, Sharon was left in a confused state.
Gerald cared about him a lot in high school. Even when he forgot to take his food while busy studying, he would dare to rain just to buy his food. Gerald always saw it differently.
