The Invisible Rich Man's

The Invisible Rich Man's
Chapter 405

“True, Sir. One thousand five hundred dollars!” The waiter was beaming.

Douglas's face was a sight to behold. At first, he thought of throwing a hundred dollars away, and then boasted from there. He never expected that a bunch of flowers to be worth so much!

If he calls his father to make a fuss …

No, it's not gonna work. This restaurant chain is owned by an influential figure in Mayberry. Whatever influence his family doesn't count on here!

But he also did not have a thousand and five hundred on him right now!

“Hmph-deep. So a thousand and five, so what? Not a big deal!" Leila grinned. He almost slapped the money on the waiter's face.

Gerald was watching. No matter what, he should have the last word in this matter!

Leila glanced at Douglas. He could definitely do something about this!

Patting his pocket, he leaned over to whisper to her, "I only have a few hundred left for me. I can't pay!"

"Aah?" Leila expected Douglas to still have about a thousand left, just like him. That way, they would be able to collect their money and fumble their way out of this mess somehow!

Now, this is embarrassing…

Gerald doesn't plan to get involved, until he sees them whispering amongst themselves, and realizes that Douglas may be broke. “Hey, waiter! Add to my bill! I'll pay them for now!”

Leila had a truly terrible expression on her face at that moment.

Although both of them were extremely rude to her, Gerald still could not bear to see Leila stuck in such a miserable state. After all, when they met again earlier, he mentioned something about relying on her if there was a problem— that's why he spoke up now.

“Hmph! Douglas doesn't need your money! He's got friends, you know?” bentak Leila's.

But who would lend Douglas a thousand five in such a short period of time? What's more, his father would hear it, sooner or later.

This is the way out. He's a fool not to accept it.

“No problem—but you have to write IOU for me!” Gerald laughed a little.

The servant took out a pen and paper for them.

With his face a portrait of adversity, Douglas kept writing that IOU and presented it to Gerald.

Then he took the hundred dollar bill back at the side table, and put it back in his wallet, before fleeing with Leila.

Outside, Douglas decides to return to Gerald for a while. “Hmph! Leila, it's ridiculous not to take advantage of that idiot back there! I've been humiliated in front of him this time, but heh! When he came calling me to pay back that IOU, well, a great opportunity! Not that the worm has any influence!”

Hearing her speak like this, Leila felt she didn't even know who she was anymore. Is this really the man she took as her boyfriend?

What a piece of trash!

That was what Douglas was like in his eyes now. There was a time when Leila used to believe that money was not the most important thing. Having grown up in the lap of luxury, he himself never wanted money. Therefore, he decided that he did not need to find a girlfriend who was really full of — as long as he could treat her with something once in a while, it was no problem!

Douglas has good connections, and has an amazing job, so he is a preferred choice. After all, wherever he went, people looked at him.

However, after what happened today in that restaurant, Leila's worldview had changed completely.

Someone who could give him a little treat, once in a while? Forget that! Without money, they would not even be able to get anything worth eating!

Leila wanted to be at that table with Gerald right now, taking part in that fancy party—but Douglas couldn't afford it.

He couldn't even afford a broken flower vase.

Someone had saved him, and now he was plotting revenge against that person.

Is this the male type? Leila shook her head.

“Leila, come! I'll take you home!”
