"Who exactly is he?" ask Gerald.
“Nah, Miss Miles is the sister of the vice head of the marketing department. It would be best if you were just careful whenever he was around! ” whispered Fay.
Gerald just shrugged and continued doing as he was told. Since he wanted to continue disguising himself as long as he could, he might just listen to him. With that, he started downloading some movies.
“Hey, hey you! Logistics guy, what are you doing? ” asked a middle-aged man in a cold tone. His arms folded on his back. Since Gerald was sitting near the entrance of the lobby, the man must have seen Gerald's computer screen.
Behind the man, stood another employee, but this was not just any ordinary employee. It was the vice-chairman of the team in Ava's own group, Nathaniel. She seemed to be enjoying the show and she grinned as she said, “Master. Murphy, it looks like this employee is downloading a movie on office hours! Ha ha! How dare! And to think that this was just his first day of work! Horrible, I said!”
In a moment, Mr. Murphy now stands right behind Gerald. Although Gerald managed to minimize the tab, he did not do it quickly enough to avoid Mr. Gerald's sharp eyes. The murphy!
As Mr. Murphy clicks the tab, Gerald knows that he has no choice but to give up this time. Mr. Murphy then goes on to yell angrily, “Who told you that you can download movies during business hours? What do you consider our company? What's yourname?"
At that moment, everyone in the lobby, including the employees of the department team, came to see the commotion. Bianca was among them and after seeing Gerald lectured, she also felt a little embarrassed for him.
"It's not what I want!" gerald Protest.
"Ah, really? What made you do it?” ask Mr. Murphy as he urged on the matter.
"Miss Miles was the one who told me to download it!" shouted Gerald while pointing towards Mina.
Mina, as expected, was furious. He did not expect such a low-level employee to actually report it to the boss. His first reaction was to throw a file at Gerald before shouting, “How dare you accuse me?!”
It was obvious that he was completely guilty this time. However, being arrogant like him, he would rather die first than admit his mistake.
As Mina lunged towards Gerald as if she had gone mad, Mr. Murphy immediately wrinkled and he shouted, “Stop this right away, Mina! What kind of behavior is this? Take back your USB and get back to work! If this happens again, know that I won't let you off that easily!”
He then glared at Gerald before leaving the scene.
Gerald was left shocked. He was not even given a warning letter even though he was clearly in violation of company regulations!
Nathaniel on the other hand, only laughed sarcastically as he looked at Gerald. He left with a satisfied smile on his face as if he had just won the lottery. As soon as the two of them left, the commotion died down once it started.
Mina now holds a tremendous grudge against Gerald. Since Mr. Murphy leaves, he'll take whatever chance he can to say passive-aggressive things to Gerald. Sometimes, he would also just curse her for no good reason.
His main goal was to make every word he threw toward Gerald sting, and although the entire department was aware of his verbal abuse, none of them dared to speak up. Everyone was obviously afraid of him.
But Gerald continued his work.
After some time, Gerald began to feel bored so he got up and headed for the gentlemen. He would use the opportunity to stretch a little as well. However, as soon as he stepped into the restroom, he was greeted by the strong smell of cigarettes. It seems some employees smoke there.
