“Don't say that! She attended Mayberry University, you know—after she graduated, she will probably get a job along Mayberry Commercial Street too!”
Everyone wants to have fun.
“Oh? So we're basically going to be co-workers! Let's hang out, Gerald!” Murphy chuckles.
He wanted to continue this conversation. She often had to hear about all the people who raised Sharon's old friend.
It made him wonder what he saw in a moneyless man like Gerald.
Sometimes it even makes things awkward for him.
That's why, when this man was introduced to her as Gerald, Murphy couldn't help but have fun at the expense of her, only to see how she would respond.
So far, it seems that this Gerald has no social skills to talk about. Once he starts working, it will be a carnival with him!
“Let him alone, Murphy! For a guy like him to get a job on Mayberry Street, his boss has to be deaf and blind!”
"Oh, yes—Murphy, you never told us how you got the Sales Manager job there!"
The focus has been returned to Murphy.
“Oh, that's a long story—but I guess it's possible because this is my specialty area. But my boss thinks I'm still a bit green, so my salary is only 45k per year for now. Ahh, my journey is still long!”
“Wah! That's amazing, man!”
A recent graduate who ordered that salary level was a rare thing. What's more, she can still climb even further up the coveted Mayberry corporate ladder.
Lilian became green from envy at Sharon now. She was on par with him in terms of — appearances but Lilian was more carefree, while Sharon was more reserved. The latter approach apparently makes a woman more desirable.
Unasked, his gaze searched for Gerald, further down the table.
A calm sense of sadness appeared in his heart, immediately followed by the horror — imagine if, during those years, he succumbed to the sentimentality of a moment and had become an item with the man ... how fate?
“Ahah, I'm just lucky. Lilian, you and the others have also done well for yourself—I hear you're an elementary school teacher now? Is it real?”
Lilian nodded. “Ya, yes!”
“It was amazing to hear. From now on, we can all continue to grow with the Mayberry family. I plan to get my own place in this district in a few years... And then, I will marry Sharon!”.
Chuckling merrily, Murphy added, “Oh, ya—Gerald, bro, what are your plans after graduation? Will you apply for a government position? Do you have a job set up for yourself? Interested in selling? The plans? Maybe admin is working?
“I'd recommend the latter to you. The government office will be perfect for you. Speaking as someone who works in sales, to be honest, you'd be bad at this sort of thing, Gerald. As for the design, it sounds good on paper, but the reality is a nightmare! It takes a sharp and logical mind. No, it's definitely something lacking in brains, a basic desk job where all you need to know is how to work a simple calculator — it's perfect for you!
After Murphy said all this, everyone looked at Gerald with disdain.
The food is on the table. Gerald ate, keeping his own advice. The only thing he said in response was, “We'll see how it goes. Whatever works. No need for your worries. ”
"Yo yo yo! There's that attitude, again.. Can't handle the truth?”
"That's it! It's bad enough how desperate you are, but you don't even want to listen to good advice? Unfortunately, your future looks bleak!” Lilian groaning.
As they continue to taunt Gerald in this way, unbeknownst to them, trouble is brewing outside of their private room.
A group of young men are at odds with one of the staff:
“I said we'd pay extra, got it? We big group—definitely this room!” snapped some kind of rough fellow. "Tell me your price, damn it, then get everyone out of there!"
