Victory in Life
Chapter 160

Michael smiled as he shook Jasper's hand. "I haven't heard of you in the past, but Zach has been talking about you for the past few days."

The fact that Zachary and Michael have nicknames for each other proves that they are close.

After making small talk, Jasper said, "Master Lane, I won't be rambling anymore because Uncle Law is here. I'm interested in buying Gladness Entertainment, which you currently have."

Michael glanced at Zachary before he smiled at Jasper and said, "I do intend to sell him. However, in terms of the price, I understand that it's not too cheap, but I don't plan to lower the price."

Michael may be a grumpy and easy to talk to, but he is a force to be reckoned with in the business world. After all, he had managed to build the empire that was now Gladness International Corporation.

"You can't deny the fact that City Harbor movies are on the decline in popularity. I'm afraid you'll have trouble finding a genuine buyer like me if your price is too high."

Jasper is not a person who spends money without thinking and thus will not just agree to whatever price Michael has set. Therefore, he did not hesitate to retaliate.

Michael said calmly, "But Gladness Entertainment has the best assets in the entertainment industry. It's fact. Jasper, how much effort do you have to put into creating a company like me from the start if you want to enter the entertainment industry?"

"I wouldn't stand before you if I didn't agree that Gladness Entertainment has the best assets, Mr. Lane," Jasper smiled as he said that.

Michael laughed and thought for a moment before he shook his head and said, "I've put my heart and soul into Gladness Entertainment. I wouldn't sell it if I had a choice. No more negotiating over price."

Jasper said calmly, "If that's the case, there's no need to continue this conversation."

Then, he turned around and left.

Not only was Michael stunned by the swift departure, but Zachary was too.

Who does such business, turning around and leaving once a dispute arises?

Given Jasper's stern demeanor, it seemed like he didn't want to buy Gladness Entertainment but more like Michael begging him to buy the company.

Zachary hasn't interfered so far. He is just the middleman for this transaction, and his role is to make sure everything is done well. Now that the deal is going to fall apart, he calls Jasper.

Just then, a servant walked over with a tray. Zachary took three glasses of wine and gave Jasper and Michael each a glass before he took a sip. He then said with a smile, "What is a business deal without a little compromise? Mich, you're a senior here. Why don't you reveal your attitude first?"

Michael frowned as he said, "I'm not explicitly demanding cash You can also seal the deal with stocks."

"What if it's the spearhead that can prevent Gladness International Corporation from losing 40% of its value in the market?" Jasper suddenly asked.

Michael's eyes sparkled as he looked seriously into Jasper's eyes and asked, "Young man, do you know what you're saying?"

Zachary's expression turned serious.

Jasper's choice of business jargon had already crossed the line from disrespectful to insulting.

In his past life, Gladness International Corporation, which shifted their focus to the financial industry, has met with a burst of the dotcom bubble. They suffered heavy losses in late 2000.

Memories of Gladness International Corporation played into Jasper's mind as he said calmly, "The dot-com bubble burst began in the west. Maybe as soon as a week or later and a half a month. Anyway, something's gonna happen. Most of Gladness International Corporation's investments are in internet companies, right?"

Michael shuddered

"Do you dare to take responsibility for what you say?" Michael asked seriously.

Jasper glanced at Zachary before he said calmly, "Master Lane, I'm willing to bet a billion dollars with you if you don't trust me."

Michael laughed out loud as he said, "There's no need to bet. I can sell Gladness International Corporation to you for 15 billion dollars, but you have to promise me one thing."
