Victory in Life
Chapter 679

"What are they muttering?"

Ned asked curiously and glared at Jasper on the other side of the meeting room, he was currently engaged in a conversation with Mr. Powers.

Marcus, who witnessed the incident, forced a restlessness inside him and spoke aggressively, "How do I know?"

"What if they discuss how to deal with us?" Ned suddenly asked.

Marcus' expression turned grim as he growled. "Can you shut up? why would the city government join forces with Jasper against us?"

Ned had a strange expression

on his face as he spoke. "I refuse to believe that you haven't heard those rumors, Mr. Coine, the current city government has been unhappy with us for a very long time, he said, if it wasn't for the fact that our two grandfathers were still alive, they would have done something to us long ago."

"Your grandfather's been carefree lately, hasn't he? although the number of people who knew this was not much, it was also not small."

Marcus' expression became gloomy at Ned's words. "My grandfather is only a little sick, he will improve in a short time, these people will not dare to attack at such a time."

"That doesn't mean we don't have to be careful around them, look how close Powers is to Jasper, you can't expect me to believe they're not planning something together" Ned said.

Marcus grunting. "We'll handle it when the time comes, we'll know if there's something going on between them after the auction is over, there's bound to be something wrong if the city government won't let us bid, or you just think too much of this."

"Without further ado, let's start this auction event, we will use this open bid method and the four companies present are free to mention your prices as you wish, the person with the highest bid owns the land."

"We will auction a 1,500-hectare piece of industrial land by Brac Province, with a starting price of 150 million, each subsequent bid will rise by 5 million, please start."

As Chad finished speaking, the owners of the other two companies that had come to join the auction raised their hands.

They asked for 150 million and 160 million, respectively.

Afterwards, the two representatives had done their part and were now sitting at the side to watch the scene unfold.

They were not disappointed, right after the call for 160 million, Marcus knocked on the table and easily bid, "250 million."

Marcus raised the price by 90 million at a time, exceeding Jasper and the 200 million agreed by the city government.

Marcus looked at Jasper after mentioning the price and sneered. "You are a rich man from outside Reed City who came to invest, even though we locals have so much money, it is fitting that we put up a fight."

Without looking up at all, Jasper called out the price calmly.

"600 million."

The room became silent at such a value.

Although there were only ten people in the meeting room, panting breaths could still be heard.

"Oh!"

No one expected Jasper to call 600 million straight out of the auction.

It's 600 million, not 600 dollars.

The owners of both Real Estate companies were gulping.

They suddenly realize that Jasper is not fighting Marcus without a foundation, Jasper is a capable man.

If anything, their company was considered big in Reed City, they were also the famous rich people in the city.

However, spending 600 million was beyond their means unless they chose to sell everything they had.

"But who would sell all they had for just a piece of industrial land worth 600 million?"

"Only a madman would do that."

It speaks volumes about how far beyond their imagination Jasper's wealth.

Marcus' expression turned grim.

He knew that Jasper would call the price higher than him, but he did not expect 600 million in the beginning.
