Victory in Life

Victory in Life
Chapter 518

Lan's eyes narrowed. He was about to say something when Jasper spoke again.

"Maybe you don't have to go through all that trouble. After all, even if you find a new place, who knows if you'll live there, right?"

lan felt a wave of uneasiness rush at Jasper's thin smile.

Inevitably he felt that there was something he had forgotten, a weakness Jasper already had.

Yet no matter how he thought about it, lan still thought that everything was within his grasp.

"All you have is an ICBS loan, two ships in Harbor City, and this piece of land. It's only three axes and you think you can win from me? You're hoping."

lan sneered as she finished, but her phone suddenly started ringing again.

lan did not hear any good news every time her phone rang today, and now that her phone started ringing constantly, lan was unwilling to pick it up at all.

However, the display on the phone stated that it was from the hospital.

lan had no choice but to lift it.

"Mr Hull, I'm calling to tell you that Ben has escaped from the hospital!"

The agitated voice of a nurse echoed through the loudspeakers.

lan was stunned for a moment before she exploded. "What do you mean he ran away?! He's a patient, how can you let him escape? Are you stupid?"

The nurse replied angrily, "We are a hospital, not a detention center, Mr. Hull. The patient controls his own leg. Not to mention Ben is mentally unstable and there's no way we can keep an eye on him every second."

"More and more reasons to watch her if her condition is unstable! Do you think you can take responsibility if something happens after he runs away?!"

lan shouted.

The nurse at the other end did not dare to make a sound.

Taking a heavy breath, lan knew that this was not the time to throw a tantrum. He clenched his jaws and commanded, "I'll be there soon. Look into the camera and find out where he's running!"

lan then hung up. Staring cynically at Jasper for the last time, he turned around and left, leaving Jasper in his mind as he watched lan leave in a hurry.

Although he did not hear what the hospital said to lan, Jasper was a little more able to guess what happened from the two lan's answers.

"Ben escaped?"

"Where would a mentally unstable madman run?"

Jasper did not think about the matter and instead called Henry.

"How are you?"

In an upscale residential complex in the City of Waterhoof,

Henry sat with his legs crossed. He smiled as he looked at the man kneeling in front of him. The man's face was beaten by two burly men. "Don't worry about me, I can control it."

Jasper smile. "Make him turn himself in after you're done. Make him say what he has to do."

Holding up the phone, Henry flicked his finger at Derick kneeling before him. "Hey, have you thought about it enough?"

Blood dripped from the corner of Derick's lips, and the man looked conflicted. He did not dare to speak.

"I can promise you that he has decided to use you as a scapegoat."

"I've been wondering in Harbor City. There is no way out of the smuggling charges. It's only a matter of time before they issue a joint investigation with the Mainland, and at that time, you can forget about walking free of this."

"They also told me that all the evidence they found suggests that you're the culprit behind it all. This means Ian has completely wiped himself out of this matter while you're still here

risking your life for him. Are you an idiot?"

Derick's eyes narrowed slightly at the sound of his words.

He had no idea who the young man who had suddenly come to break down this door was, but of all who had been conspiring ever since, Derick knew that this was an arrogant young man who did something regardless of the consequences.

Most importantly, this young man also seemed to be well aware of what was happening in Harbor City as if he was the real mastermind behind it all.

Henry crouched down in front of Derick and spoke, "I don't like wasting time, and my patience is always bad. Your wife and son are in Harbor City, right?"

"Do you think they'll have a nice life if you go to jail for smuggling?"

With a smile, Henry patted Derick's swollen face. "Rethink. Work with me, and I'll put lan behind bars. You're just an accomplice. By turning yourself in and cooperating with the investigation, you will be deducted several years from your sentence."

Henry then took out a check from his breast pocket and waved it in front of Derick.

"This check will be enough for your wife and child to wait comfortably for you to be released."

Derick stared at the check, already hooked.

He knew that the things he did with Lan were illegal. It would be fine if they were not caught, but a lot of trouble would come if they were caught.

According to his understanding of lan, it was likely that the man would make him responsible for all the mistakes.

"I mean, you don't have to agree. You can go ahead and be executed for lan. I'll try to send your wife and son to see you as soon as possible."

Henry's last sentence finally got Derick to speak up.

"No! No!"

"I promise, as long as you do what you say, I'll promise you everything!"

"I'll turn myself in. I'll tell them everything I know!"

"Please, don't hurt my family. Keep them safe!"

Henry heaved a sigh of relief as he watched Derick's last defense collapse and began to sob.

To be honest, he was a wealthy heiress, the son of a wealthy family.

His favorite pastime was to bully and bully other wealthy heirs of the same status, not 'normal people' like Derick because it made him seem classless.

Not to mention he would never hurt Derick's family. Young Master Law is not a gangster who wants to kill himself. He's not so terrible.

Henry would be confused if Derick still refused to speak.

Henry smiled, feeling pleased. He said, "Good. Don'worry. I promise you, don't I? That's basic etiquette for the wealthy heirs of the upper class."

Henry then got up and looked at his two subordinates. "Let's go, Mr. Mallin. We'll take you to turn yourself in."
