Victory in Life

Victory in Life
Chapter 573

The aura surrounding Jasper at that moment was already beyond what Penelope could understand. However, he knew that Jasper's clothes were expensive. Every single move of the man and even the simplest view was filled with the prestige and aura of someone from a high society.

In comparison, Penelope felt like a speck of dust in the mud while Jasper was a prince towering above her.

Nothing can be compared between the two.

No one could have imagined that they were the couple who talked about the wedding plans a year ago.

Penelope slightly shuddered, but she did not know if she was trembling with resentment or regret.

Jasper wailed as he looked at Penelope, now as desperate as a beggar on the streets.

There were no more romantic feelings between them.

However, the hatred he had stored for her seemed to have faded as well.

Jasper once imagined that he would feel extremely proud when he stood in front of Penelope after she finally made her Name famous. He wondered what it was like to mock Penelope for looking down on him at first, only to end up losing such a man's gem.

However, even when all this finally happened, Jasper did not feel the slightest urge to mock him anymore.

He was only amazed at how quickly the world could change.

"Take it."

A lump of cash appeared before Penelope.

That's about one to two thousand dollars.

"That's all I have now. Buy nice clothes for you and your mom, and use the rest for Christmas presents. After all, things will get better next year."

Jasper paused and continued, "John Jackson, Vice President of ICBS City Branch, is my friend. He was promoted from Faith Province, so he should still have some contacts here and there. I can call him when I get back to ask him if he can give you a temporary job at ICBS."

"But you also have to work hard for it. Study hard and pass the exam. ICBS has internal tests before hiring employees, but John will help prepare the way for you if you pass the tests. That'll give you a steady job."

Jasper put the money in Penelope's hands and turned to leave.

Penelope looked at the banknote in her hand, then looked up, only to see Jasper walking away.

It was a bustling street, with crowds all around, ready to celebrate the joy of Christmas. Penelope watched as Jasper's figure disappeared before she suddenly gathered the courage she didn't even know she had to chase after him.

"Wait!"

Jasper turned around and frowned when he saw Penelope gasping for air from running.

'What else does this woman want? He can't be so fooled into thinking that we're going back together, can he?'

Jasper said nothing, instead waiting patiently for him to speak first.

"I'm chasing you for nothing else. I just wanted to tell you, that when I was talking, I mean, buying stuff this morning, I heard two young men, who I thought were brothers, talking about something. I think one of them was called Terence or something."

"The man named Terence was trying to prove something to the others, and claimed that some great people would come after you, and therefore, he asked other men to join in as well."

"I don't know exactly what they're saying, but I heard them say your name so I listened to them, but then again, they might as well just talk about Jasper"

Penelope then bowed deeply before Jasper, then turned to run away.

Jasper furrowed his brows slightly as he watched Penelope's figure disappear into the crowd. Instantly, he was deep in thought.

Penelope turned around on the corner of the street and stopped to catch her breath, when she suddenly leaned over to wail.

Whether she was crying out of regret or something else maybe only Penelope knew.

Even so, Jasper and Penelope were well aware of the current situation.

That they were both completely foreign now. Their last contact will end with Jasper's helping hand.
