Victory in Life
Chapter 604

More than an hour later, Jasper walked out of Dawson's study with a serious look on his face.

"How did it go?" Wendy approached and asked attentively.

He didn't know what had just happened because he wasn't in the study.

The storm over Jasper's head disappeared as he smiled at Wendy, "Not much, he's just a pretentious payday who decided to come to our door and show off."

"What are you talking about, stop being rude, let's be serious" Wendy said, displeased.

Jasper hugged Wendy and walked towards the kitchen, "Is there anything left to eat? I'm starving, I can't eat properly today."

Seeing that Jasper did not want to talk much about this, Wendy furrowed her nose dejectedly but did not press her for details, when it came to such things, she knew the limit.

"Can I feed you?"

Jasper's eyes twinkled and he stared at Wendy's alluring figure before gulping, "Absolutely so? well, aren't you outspoken today?"

Wendy blinked, unable to catch a joke that would become a trend more than a decade later.

Still, Wendy was a smart woman and she realized where Jasper was looking, with a little more thought, she was aware of what the man meant.

Shy and angry, Wendy grabs the pot and starts running after Jasper to hit him, "You want to die? would it kill you to stop joking around all the time?!"

.....

The next day, Jasper was informed of the terrible news right after he woke up.

Zayden Hanks is dead.

"Jasper, our intel states that Zayden was so determined to die, he not only banged his head against the wall, but he also bit his own tongue earlier if the impact didn't kill him."

"Nobody in the detention center thought he was going to kill himself."

"There was blood all over the floor when they found him this morning, there was a big hole in his head and his brain was scattered in half of the wall, he was unrecognizable."

Wendy was having breakfast with Jasper when she heard the news, the cow-eye egg was still in her mouth when she stopped and put the egg back on the plate.

Jasper, who was drinking his soy milk, looked at Julian with disdain, "Do you have to say that much detail?"

Julian scratched his head and replied innocently, "I'm afraid it will affect the deduction if I miss any details, Jasper."

"I'm not a detective, solving murders is their job, not mine."

Jasper sighed and asked, "Did someone visit Zayden last night?"

Julian nodded, "Yes, Sylva Hanks visited him at ten o'clock last night and two other unknown strangers visited him at two this morning, the two foreigners are missing now and officials are trying to track them down."

Jasper snorted, "How loyal are the guards in the detention center! I understand if it was Zayden's father who visited him, but a stranger visited at two in the morning? what are they doing?"

Julian smiled bitterly, saying, "The two strangers are very suspicious, and because of this, half of the guards from the night shift yesterday have been fired."

"A useless group of guards!"

Jasper slammed his chopsticks against the table loudly, "Zayden is afraid of death, to the point of begging me for mercy just to live, why would he kill himself with such a tragic method? someone must have threatened him with something more important than his own life."

Just then, a servant from outside entered the door, "Master Laine, there's someone named Sylva Hanks outside who wants to talk to you."
