Terence believed that he would definitely make a lot of money someday. He was so full of confidence that he felt hate when he heard that Jasper had become a great man.
From his point of view, success as described by a group of poor rural relatives was nothing special.
However, he was overwhelmed with immense jealousy after seeing the luxurious villa and the row of BMWs parked in front of him. It was a luxury beyond his wildest dreams.
"Can't he share some of his money with us because he's that rich? We're relatives! All he did was show off his wealth! How can such a person succeed in life? Even if he was rich, it was only temporary. He must be bankrupt in the future!" Terence Laine muttered with gritted teeth.
When Jasper arrived at the Shangri-La Hotel, his relatives had already been there for more than 20 minutes.
Everyone sat in their respective seats while they engaged in noisy chatter.
Each of them tried their best to keep their composure in front of each other. They try their best not to turn their heads to look around, making it seem as if they often attend such lavish events.
However, the reality is that none of them have ever eaten at a five-star hotel.
They don't even know how to use a napkin properly. Some of them put it in their collar or put it under their dinner plates, whereas others use it as a towel to wipe their hands before clenching it and throwing it away.
Three tables in the room were served with plates of food and drink. The children stared at the delicious dishes excitedly. However, the adults hit their hands when they reached out to pick up food.
Although the adults also wanted to try an incredible dish they had never seen before, no one dared to touch their equipment before Jasper came.
Even as a mere junior, he had the ability to make all the oldest in his family wait for him before they started eating. This is the charm that money brings.
Jasper's coming in through the entrance. Looking at the situation in the room, he laughed out loud. "Sorry late, everyone. Why haven't you started eating yet?" She asked.
Jasper looked at the main table. The seat to the left of Carson Laine, his father, was empty. The chair was clearly hers.
Jasper chuckled and said, "I'm a junior, so I have to sit on the side. If I were to sit in such a prestigious place as the main table, I might be criticized."
His relatives also laughed out loud. Terence Laine, who was sitting at the end of the third table, looked at Jasper with jealousy. He sneered at her repeatedly in his heart.
"All right, everyone's waiting for you. Quick, all the seats are the same" Carson Laine escorted Jasper beside him and forced him to sit beside him.
After instructing the servants to start serving the dishes, Jasper chatted briefly with the elders sitting at his desk. He stood up and raised his glass. "Everything, today marks the end of the year for us. Let's leave the past behind and welcome a new beginning" he said cheerfully in front of his relatives.
"My alcohol tolerance is pretty average, so I'm not going to toast each one of you. Therefore, I will toast to all of you now. It's for a new beginning and peace in a new year."
Everyone showed a good response to Jasper's words. They stood up, and those who could drink alcohol drank from their glasses while those who could not drink drank gulped down their drinks. Nevertheless, everyone present emptied the contents of their glasses.
Jasper put down his empty glass and was just about to return to his seat when Terence stood at the end of the third table. He carried a large box and told Jasper, "This is the wild ginseng you requested from our family, Jasper Laine. I brought it for you today."
Terence's tone of voice was cold and stiff. He spoke to Jasper without the slightest bit of manners. It was as if Jasper was forcing his family to hand over the wild ginseng.
Sitting at the same table as Jasper, Uncle Jasper's expression instantly changed. He was about to reprimand Terence when Terrence sneered coldly and began to speak.
"Now you're rich, we don't even dare to say anything when you take things from poor relatives like us. But you already have so much money. Why don't you lend me the money? Five numbers should be enough. We're all relatives. You don't mind, do you?"
