Jasper did not expect that this was what made Charlie frown and stutter for so long.
Jasper didn't know how he should react to it.
"Uncle Schuler was very relaxed, and he was not easily angered. He's a very nice person, so we can relax more. Otherwise, we'll look too formal."
However, Jasper did not expect Charlie to be glaring at him when he said that.
"Omong empty! We have to be polite. Even though we didn't ask for his father's blessing this time, this was still the first time the parents of both sides had met. How can we treat this casually?"
After realizing that Charlie was going to take this matter very seriously, Jasper said helplessly, "Maybe we can prepare some presents?"
Charlie pinched his chin and raised an eyebrow before saying, "He's a tycoon and may have received all kinds of expensive gifts before. If we give him wine and tobacco like we used to, he might laugh at us. Never mind, I'll consult the elders and see what I have to do in such a situation."
Jasper sighed and said, "Dad, what makes you so nervous? Uncle Schuler may be one of the richest men in the province, but I'm not far behind either. We're not trying to get in touch with him. No need to be nervous like that."
"What's? He's the richest man in the province?!" Charlie immediately ignored everything else when he heard it, and his eyes widened as he spoke.
Charlie, who had been a farmer for most of his life until Jasper became big, rarely even saw a huge pile of money with his own eyes. The richest man in the province was on the same level as the king to him. They were all legends he had never heard of before.
"That was in the past. Right now, maybe me, your son." Jasper grinned as he spoke and tried to ease Charlie's stress and nerves.
However, Charlie glared at Jasper and said, "You're still young, so don't get cocky after some achievements. He has worked hard all his life, do you think he will be easily defeated by you?"
If he combined the cash he had in his personal property and real estate, Jasper felt that he could not only be named as the richest man in the Southeast Province, he said, but he can even be listed as the three richest people in the country.
However, one must not reveal their wealth. It would be better for him to keep a low profile.
"Dad, I'm serious. No need to be this formal. Act as if I were introducing you to a friend. There's no way he'll look down on you because you're a farmer, and you don't have to hold back just because he's the richest man in the province. Do whatever you're supposed to do" Jasper suggested.
Charlie did not say anything, but there was a cold expression on his face. Finally, he said, "You make it sound simple. Never mind, I can't conclude anything with you. I should talk to your mother about it and then consult the elders at home."
"Did my mother and the elders have experience befriending the richest people in the province and becoming family with them?" Jasper grinned as he asked.
Charlie took out a box of cigarettes and threw one at Jasper in a natural motion. "I'll call your uncle and tell him to bring 100-year-old ginseng from home. You can't just buy stuff like this at the market, so it must be a good gift."
"That's their family heirloom. Is Uncle willing to hand it over?" Jasper asked cheerfully.
"Why won't he?" Charlie glared at him as he said, "You alone helped his son's career. It's just mountain ginseng, and that doesn't mean we won't pay for it. Why would not you? I'll take care of this. You don't have to worry."
"Dad, who taught me to never expect anything in return when we did a good deed when I was young?" Jasper asked while crossing one leg over the other.
Charlie's facial expression grew furious as he raised his voice and said, "How can it be the same? We'll meet your future father-in-law! We have to adapt to things like that. Time is very important, and we can't consider it now."
