Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 20: The Unexpected Result, Part 1

XAVIER doesn't know if he should thank or be upset about finding himself sitting inside a familiar bubble of space in the eye. He didn't ask where he was, nor about who brought him here. Answer's clear. Hence too, Xavier could not bring his mouth saying anything and could only remain silent as the owner of the dimensional bubble appeared before him.

A slightly consoled smile blossomed on the lips of the gray-sliced violet-haired lady, her vertical black pupils appearing to shrink.

Crossroads appear in the Xavier temple. His lips twitched a little. He felt his pride was a little smeared. He comes to rescue a woman and punish the kidnapper. The opposite happened: he was convicted by the kidnapper and saved by a woman. Ironies.

However, despite being bitter on the tongue, Xavier forced his mouth open: “Although I can still save myself, but I appreciate what you did. Thank you.”

Far from the best way to thank, indeed, but that is what his mouth can bring out. And she is Vermyna. He is the person that he will eventually finish—Xavier still have not forgotten about Nizivia and Catherine. However, with himself indebted to him, how could he fulfill that goal?

A black throne appeared behind Vermyna, and the woman immediately sat there without any intention of responding. However, her annoying smile still had not faded. It was as if the vampire/devil/or-whatever was blatantly showing that Xavier was comforting himself.

Xavier's thoughts swayed and Vermyna wiped the smile away, but the commander calmed down. A few dozen seconds later he opened his mouth again by asking, “Why did you say‒ brought me here?”

“For you to owe me?” Vermyna's comforting smile widened.

Xavier spontaneously frowned. “...What's funny?” he asked as his frustration rose to a level where his tank of patience no longer contained the frustration.

“Shortly.”

Xavier's eyes blinked. His mouth opened to say something, but he quickly closed it back when he could not find a word to say. Her eyes looked at Vermyna as if her head had split in two.

“You...I cannot understand.” Xavier finally said after almost a minute of silence, his head was shaking quietly. “What do you really want, Vermyna Hellvarossa?”

“You seem very reluctant to feel indebted to me. You hate myself..only because I have taken the trouble to free myself from what Edenia did?”

Xavier frowned, but this time for a different reason to his previous squeaks. It's easy to say “ya”, but Xavier can't bring himself to say it. He angry? Ja. Evidently. How did she not get angry after Vermyna ended the existence of Catherine and Nizivia?

Hating him, though? Xavier does not understand.but he cannot say “ya” on that question.

“...Give myself your blood, and ourselves break even.”

Xavier looked intensely at the former vampire. The comforting smile on the milky-white face had disappeared, replaced by a thin, flat stingray. Xavier was about to ask if he was still drinking blood even though his body was no longer a vampire, but quashed that intention and chose to nod.

“...It doesn't matter if it's only blood.” Xavier stood up and walked over to Vermyna who was sitting on the throne two meters in front of him. “This,” said, right hand outstretched for the woman reach.

Vermyna grabbed Xavier's hand. However, rather than carrying him to the mouth, he pulled the hand firmly, instantly making Xavier's body pushed away. Before realizing it, Xavier had already found his chin on Vermyna's right shoulder. Vermyna's super soft right hand had caressed her cheek.

“...Other times you should be more careful.”

Xavier's eyes blinked, and suddenly he was already on the white sand on the seafront—not far from him there was a large pier that was not foreign.

He was in Cestapola, Xavier realized that. However, his mind was too confused to care. Instead of sucking her blood, Vermyna instead acted as if they were so close, her tone as if they had once cared for each other.

…Xavier doesn't understand. He had no recollection of ever meeting Vermyna before their meeting at the main headquarters of the New World Order. More than that, Vermyna—

“Vier!”

—Xavier's eyes blinked, a little jolted with Monica's voice coming suddenly, but he was quickly able to expel the thoughts that confused him and put on an expression as if there was nothing.

...* * *...

Vermyna had not moved a single inch from the throne inside the bubble of its dimension since he moved Xavier to the coast of Cestapola nearly two minutes ago. His gray eyes still had not moved from looking at his right palm. The sensation of touching Xavier's cheek was still imprinted, palpable, and it brought him to his old memory.

The laughter they gave. Jokes (mostly crisp) coming out of their mouths. The time they spend. Warm embrace that still feels. An annoyed face that brings a smile. The days are so colorful…. Vermyna remembered everything as if it was just yesterday.

He even brought his consciousness to that time, just to make sure he didn't forget a single moment.

However, when it realized only itself remembered all of that, a slightly salty clear drop suddenly shot out on its own from Vermyna's tail.

It was laughable to know herself to the point of crying, but Vermyna was unable to deceive herself.

That heart.he's hurt.

That chest recess.feel stifling.

His mouth was unable to open, the lips were shaking.

However, although forgetting everything is easy, erasing the memory is not difficult.Vermyna is reluctant to consider. Although only she herself kept this memory, Vermyna accepted. He believes Xavier will remember it, even if he doesn't know when. And, when that comes, he will make sure Xavier is responsible for all the pain he gives.

How irresponsible the idiot boy was, Vermyna snorted inwardly with vexation—even though the lips were slightly curved.

...* * *...

It took Shiva a long time to calm down. Although it was a bit embarrassing he acted like a child who had lost his toys, but now his control had returned. His emotions—who had not lived since the last few years—had been dead again. A god needs no emotion; he cannot fulfill his purpose if he still has a glimmer of emotion.

“You saw it, Sakhra?” shiva asked the individual who had appeared behind him—ia was still in the desert.

“...No.”

“Couple sure you won't get any food shipment from anyone if you see it.”

“Sakhra see nothing.”

“Good. That's what I want to hear.” Shiva nodded to himself. “Now I need your help to bring this desert back to how it was. When you're done, you can have my palace chef make you any food.”

“OK. Sakhra will do that.”

Once again Shiva nodded, then his body was clad in wind armor and in the air. He had indeed failed to obtain the pieces of Xavier's soul, but the life energy he had accumulated was enough. He had no choice but to make good use of it.

However, what he still did not understand, why did Vermyna help Xavier? Shouldn't they be fighting each other? Or, Vermyna was actually utilizing Xavier for his sake?

[Divine Insight] should be the best Supreme Magic. It was indeed not offensive magic, but he could do all the things he wanted with that magic. Whatever he didn't know, the magic gave an answer. Shiva did not think the day where he would feel disappointed at his magic would come. Yet….

It's a result I never really expected.
