Against the World II: Transgression

Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 4: Silent Night, Part 4

According to Xavier, as he had just told, he had been with Edenia since the toddler. When he was five years old, the child in front of him was told that his mother and father were killed at the hands of a group of demihuman—villages where they lived were destroyed and their citizens also became victims. This place, this untouched village, was an Edenia creation specifically for Xavier. He could not get out of it without Edenia's permission, and no one else could get in without Xavier's own permission.

“Besides Edenia, the speechless Thevetat, and the haughty Phoenix, you were the first individual to speak to me. How, do you feel flattered?”

There were many things that could be commented from Xavier's words, be it his explanation or his statement just now. However, what attracted Vermyna the most attention was the fact that the child before her had never once set foot in the world freely. It was like his neck was wrapped around a chain by Edenia ‒ Xavier like a pet.

“What self Edenia taught you various things?” vermyna asked after a long period of silence, ignoring Xavier's question.

“Of course,” Xavier replied quickly. “I don't know what the outside world looks like—Edenia says this world is too despicable for me to see. However, if what the stories tell about the lives of the children are true, my life is far from that. Edenia.

Vermyna listened to Xavier's story attentively.

According to the child before him, Edenia taught him to read and write when he was three years old. At the age of four, he began to be crammed with light physical exercise. Entering the age of five, he was required to avoid lightning strikes continuously every twilight until it ended. He was taught magic when he was six. Then, at the age of eight, Edenia created a dimension filled with beasts for her to live in. He just came out of that dimension at the age of nine.

“Why did Edenia do all that?” Vermyna asked the most important question. “Why did he choose to save yourself, while in this world there are many other peerage (toddlers who die horribly)?”

“That's an interesting question,” Xavier said as he crossed his legs, his left cheek resting on his left palm. “However, I'll only answer after you prove you won't break the deal. Edenia said, mortal beings like to deny the deal—reason for the reason they made to avoid, sometimes they do not hesitate to use various tricks.”

Vermyna blinked, before then letting herself smile. “You were right about themselves.” He had no reason to refute Xavier's words. “However, equate myself with themselves? That's too much. I'll make sure I don't renege on the deal.”

“If so, give me proof.”

Vermyna temples twitch. Now he understood what Xavier was trying to do. What did he say was all to get him to ask the question earlier. Xavier is not the origin of giving information, he sorted well. Although Vermyna had no intention of breaking the deal, ..he would not like it if it was made to beg for answers.

Of course Vermyna could stand up and turn away, but he would not necessarily get this chance again. And if he could get the boy in the palm of his hand, he could mess up whatever Edenia had planned against Xavier.

“Good. What kind of proof do you want?” vermyna asked with a breath. It was Vermyna, of course he could do everything easily. He is a superior creature.

“Er..in a book it says, a lover will happily kiss his lover. So, em.. I want you to do it.”

…Vermyna suddenly felt his throat dry, his eyes twitching with a puzzled expression.

Vermyna instantly retracted his thoughts; he could not do everything so easily.

...* * *...

Three months have passed since Vermyna met Xavier Hernandez—the human who became Edenia's choice to help her defeat the “creature” that holds the universe above her palm, creatures that are out of the universe ‒ creatures that said “dewa” deserve to be pinned on him. At least, it was Xavier's answer as to why Edenia did what she did.

Their meeting three months ago ended with an agreement that Vermyna would visit her once a week. Xavier lonely—that boy even guiltlessly confessed to intentionally letting his village be seen, that way someone would be lured to come. Of course Vermyna's main reason was Xavier's blood. If he can get it routine every week, driving away the lonely in Xavier's life isn't a bad thing.

At least, that was what filled Vermyna's mind at the very beginning. However, as time passed, his motivation changed. It was a shame for her to admit to anyone (even to Catherine and Valeria once), but she definitely enjoyed spending time with Xavier. And without him knowing, the day he was going to visit Xavier had become the thing Vermyna looked forward to—of course he would not admit it to the songbirds.

Week by week passed. Vermyna was never absent from her weekly routine. He always comes to visit Xavier with a variety of different inns. They spend time doing many things, from chatting to looking up at the night sky together. There was no day that Vermyna felt sorry about spending time with the child.

Early deal first, they will only play the role of “lover” until the day Xavier turns 73. That day is tomorrow. That is, after tomorrow, their “lover” game will end. Vermyna's most routine will be lost. No more meeting Xavier. No more talking to him. There was no more ridicule he could make on the boy. There was no longer a warm smile that drove him back to the Vampire Kingdom.

Vermyna felt lonely ‒ moments like this Vermyna wanted her power as Vermyna Hellvarossa returned. That way, he can repeat the past. He can go back to the day where he met Xavier for the first time.

“Miss Vermyna, something bothers Miss?”

Vermyna blinked, spontaneously turning to look at Valeria—his loyal servant who had been with him since childhood.

Vermyna thought for a moment to ask Valeria for her opinion, but she quickly discarded the idea. Valeria is worse than that kind of thing. The only one he can count on to give him advice is Hernandez. However, that solution also he scribbled. Hernandez is completely unreliable in such a matter.

“No, no.” Vermyna finally replied, his hand wagging empty. “You can go, Valeria, for today and tomorrow you can do what you want.”

“Alright, if that's what Miss wants.”

Vermyna looked at Valeria's departure in silence, before then reverberating to her thoughts as the servant left.

However he thought about it, there was no other solution but to have Xavier beg him not to stop visiting. That way, he does not need to lower his self-esteem ‒ he does not need to put on a shy face is not clear like the snot girls out there. He dominated, not dominated.

“Ya... right once,” muttered Vermyna to herself. “Like her asking myself to be her lover, I just need to make herself ask me to keep coming.”

Nodding steadily, Vermyna let her lips curl perfectly ‒ Valeria would think Vermyna had been possessed if she saw the smile on her face now.

...—the next day—...

“...You know why I asked you to be a lover only until I was 73?”

Tanya was the first thing that welcomed Vermyna's arrival. Although the smile accompanying the question was the same as her past smiles, but Vermyna felt that something was wrong. He could not find out what was wrong, but there was clearly something unpleasant.

“Hmph, I have no intention of knowing.” Vermyna ignored that obstructive feeling, putting on her usual expression. “Give yourself a hand, be a useful servant to the perfect queen. Guide myself into.” Vermyna extended her right hand, chest puffing haughtily.

Xavier smiled faintly. “Of course, My Queen, your wish is an order for me.”

With her hands clutched together, Vermyna stepped parallel to Xavier, walking into the village.

Xavier's hand grips tightly, but so gently. Vermyna. He wants it to be like this next. However, of course, there was no way he would bring himself to say that. He just needs to enjoy it quietly.

“...That's because I will only live to 73 years exactly.”

…And Vermyna was completely silent ‒ was silent in the truculent sense, even she felt her heart stop beating for a moment.

“Edenia says I'll only live to 73 years, then I die right in the next second. After I die, the memory of me will definitely vanish in your memory. The world does not know me, and you will forget me, but spending time with you is a gift that is enough to make me not regret having lived. Therefore, Vermyna, can I be a little selfish? Will you accompany me the rest of my time? Would you bury my body later?”
