Nueva couldn't help but be surprised. If before he evolved, he could still understand. But now his [Eternal Zero] was already perfect. There should be no magic that can absorb the effects of [Eternal Zero]. No wonder he was surprised.
But he was not too surprised either. Xavier is not immune to his magic. And that's more than enough. A second or two, even if it is very short, can make a very real difference in combat. One could lose his life in a second or two; one could survive in a second or two.
Nueva leapt into the air as Xavier shot to attack. Her ice throne was destroyed, but Nueva paid no heed. While in the air, his chest puffed up and he released a burst of high-pressure wind. Of course the gusts of wind were abnormal; there were millions of tiny wind blades in those bursts. The level of its destructiveness is unquestionable.
However, Xavier only moved his left palm up in reaction, and the Nueva wind burst into the hand.
Nueva raised a pair of ice wings on her back and darted away from Xavier. He landed right on the surface of the mountain. The reason he did not attack immediately was to find out how far Xavier was able to overcome his attacks. If he unleashed attacks from all directions, would he be able to absorb them all?
Nueva fused her palms together, trying to pull out various spells. However, he suddenly released the unification of his two hands and canceled the intention. Xavier has [Reverse Law], he can obliterate all his spells without needing to absorb them. Although [Eternal Zero] was superior, facing fellow Supreme Magic was indeed troublesome.
“You didn't attack?” xavier asked, they're back face to face. “Then I will return to attack.”
Nueva said nothing. Along with Xavier's darting, the ice wings on the emperor's back disappeared. “What can I do, I will serve you before [Reverse Law] becomes mine.”
In an instant, Xavier was already in front of Nueva with both fists clad in mana. Nueva doesn't bother dodging. The commander's body stopped an inch before the fist hit him. Xavier instantly reacted by absorbing the energy that froze him. Unfortunately, Xavier couldn't do that instantly. So, once her body was normal, Nueva's left leg had landed flat on her right cheek.
The Twelfth Commander crashed and hit the surface of the mountain that had been covered with snow and dragged to the edge.
Nueva could take advantage of the opportunity to bombard Xavier when his body has not stopped. But that he didn't do. Nueva wanted to clarify the difference in strength between them. No matter if Xavier could absorb the effects of his magic, he would destroy it without a fight. Other than their obvious difference in magic power, the difference in their physical strength could not be ignored either.
“I'm a dragonoid, and you're only human. Do you think you have a chance to win?”
Nueva's question greeted Xavier with a back attack. His body was enveloped in thick black flames. Both of his hands were already holding the lightning sword in high concentration. Xavier attacked with a super serious expression on the face.
The black lightning and fire Nueva froze instantly, causing the two different elements to decay into frozen particles. “You shouldn't do something in vain, si—”
Nueva's words were restrained, her body stopped moving for a moment. And when Nueva managed to outperform anything that constrained her body, Xavier's right-hand punch had lodged in the emperor's face.
Nueva's body stopped. However, before Xavier could land a second attack, Nueva managed to move to dodge. Unlike the previous, Nueva did not fight the restraints of [Reverse Law] with strength. He outsmarted it by following the [Reverse Law] principle.
“[Reverse Law],” muttered Nueva while repelling Xavier's left-hand punch. “I thought I could handle it with no difficulty. But what about you? Frozen World.”
Immediately, the area within a radius of three kilometers from where Nueva was located froze instantly. The temperature is absolutely 0 Kelvin.
At this moment, no particles were moving. Everything stopped. However, since space exists, the only thing that remains in motion is time. At least, it was in the perspective of anyone who was outside the Frozen World area. For those in Frozen World, even time stops— just as gravity disappears. Not even a sound can sound inside this area.
Since all particles stop moving, 0 Kelvin means kinetic energy to be 0, breathing becomes impossible. Let alone that, the function of life disappears. The body is composed of particles that interact with each other. When the particle moves, then “life” is destroyed. And in an ordinary human, if it reached 0 Kelvin instantly, its body would harden beyond iron, but it was more fragile than paper that had been burned to ashes.
Even Nueva herself would not have survived that effect if Frozen World had been maintained continuously. Her body was indeed immune from [Eternal Zero], but Nueva still needed air to breathe. It's not a vampire. He's not a demon. He's a dragonoid, needs to breathe. Therefore, he could only defend Frozen World as long as he could hold his breath.
While Nueva was not exposed to the slightest bit of his own spell effect, Xavier before him fell completely silent with his frozen body. But the commander is not dead. The organs in his body did not freeze. He wielded his power to absorb the effects of Frozen World. It was clearly visible from the air around him that was still moving.
Nueva then eliminates the Frozen World effect. At the same time, his right hand moved around gripping the commander's neck. Therefore, Xavier immediately gasped with a pale face trying to breathe. But Nueva ignored Xavier's pain and instead strengthened his grip.
The emperor felt [Reverse Law] was about to work, so he immediately prepared to do the same with what [Reverse Law] had forced on his body. However, to Nueva's surprise, he suddenly found their positions reversed. Xavier clutched his neck hard. Although the commander's face was still pale from lack of breath, the lightning-lined black flames had already coated his free hand.
Nueva reacted directly by trying to freeze the commander. Xavier realized that. Therefore, the commander teleported away. That made Nueva fall to her knees.
“Tsk, what a troublesome ability.” Nueva grieved and then stood up.
Then the emperor turned around, and he found Xavier kneeling on one foot on the edge of the mountain. His breathing was hunting, but his face was normal. The oxygen supply that his body needs is already being met. However, the difference is clear. Nueva is inevitable in the wind.
“The troublesome thing from you is only two,” Nueva said as she stepped foot. “If I can outsmart the ability to absorb the effects of magic and the ability to swap places, then there is nothing else you can do to provide resistance.”
