LAND OF DREAM is a dimension that contains sand, dunes, sand mountains, and everything related to sand. Not just ordinary sand, but various ranging from gold sand to adamantite sand. In fact, there was sand that was so black that the light emitted onto it seemed to be drawn in. Furthermore, there was sand floating freely in certain places.
The Land of Dreams is a dimension that stands alone. The sky was gray; there was no sun there, only nine moons were coiled in the sky. And the moon is all glowing, making them the only source of light that exists in this dimension. As a stand-alone dimension, no one could possess it other than those whose illusion magic was already within a level where they could touch the surface of [Endless Thought].
At least, that was what Xavier heard from Menez's explanation as he asked where they were.
“So, what you want to say is you want to follow Xavier because he has ‘killed’ El, so?” Kanna who had been silent had finally opened her voice. “That's a bit unreasonable; normally, you're mad at Xavie and want to kill him.”
Menez pressed his shoulders. “I don't care about the New World Order and their goals; I just follow El. Since El let himself be killed by Xavier, that means he wants me to follow Xavier as well. Moreover, I am also from the same village as Xavier and Monica. Although El is hostile to Xavier, El wants to make the world a peaceful place so that Monica, Xavier, and other surviving children can live well
Xavier grinned in heart. Menez's lies are very smooth. And he ended his reasoning with a very precise sentence. Kanna already knows what happened to Carnal Village, of course hearing Menez's speech will give its own mental burden. That was his father's order. There was no way Kanna could not feel anything after hearing Menez's confession.
“You know other kids?” kanna asked, her face covered in emotionless “mask”.
“When the Carnal Village massacre happened, El took two more children with me—they were both in the Elf Kingdom. Meanwhile, I found out a child Vermyna had taken and turned into a vampire. Xavier takes Monica to the imperial territory. Some of the children were in Etharna with their families. There were also those who managed to escape to Avarecia, Kazarsia Kingdom. That's all I know.”
“So, yes...” Kanna frowned, her blue iris then looked sharply at Xavier's red iris. “And you still haven't explained, how ‘kill him’ can make you have all the power of El. It was like [Division Magic] in my eyes. I don't want to think that all this is a lie and actually you and El are the same individuals, if you've been deceiving me and the others.”
“You overestimated me too much, Kanna.” Xavier said as he raised both hands and raised his shoulders. “You really think I can do all that? I'm sure Renhart will laugh at this joke.”
“Then, describe.” Kanna crossed both hands in the chest, looking at Xavier like a judge who was about to try a heavy criminal suspect.
Xavier let out a long sigh, calming down to lie well—a lie that mixes up lies and truth. “I've said before that I realize the reason why sometimes I feel strong and other times I feel weak, right?”
Kanna nodded.
“El is dead, but it's just his body.” Technically, this isn't a lie.Luciel's body is completely dead and destroyed. “Only, what we do not know, there is a force to divide my body in half with a high level [Division Magic]. The body was then used to hold El's soul. It makes my strength increase when El sleeps, and vice versa when I sleep. I'm sure you realize that my soul and El's are different, right?”
Kanna nodded back. “El's soul feels more holy, as if he were an angel.”
“After talking to El and reassuring him,” continued Xavier, “the body came back to me. Not only that, El also destroyed his own soul and gave all his strength to me. Includes also [Reverse Law].” Xavier paused for a moment, taking a serious look at Kanna. “I won't tell you our conversation, no matter if you decide to make me an imperial enemy though.”
“...What El also wants to end my father's life?”
“I will not deny that,” said Xavier standing up, his eyes looking intensely at Kanna who was standing a few steps away from him who was sitting on the sand. “How? Are you satisfied with my explanation? Or, do you want to sue me to elaborate on my conversation with El?”
Kanna took a long breath. “You can save that conversation,” he replied slowly. Then his eyes moved on Menez who was also standing. “You sure you want to leave Deus Chaperon?”
Menez. “Because Xavier is a member of the Imperial Army, I also want to join the Imperial Army. I heard the Chiron Army is an imperial terelite battalion; I don't mind joining them. Ah, I also want to return the new Eleventh Commander to you.” Menez flicked his finger, Emily who was asleep just appeared beside them. “She just fell asleep in an illusion,” she explained.
Xavier has to admit, knowing Emily's okay is a bit of a relief. Fortunately, he did not face Alforalis. If that happens, Emily will not survive. Alforalis is strong, he might be able to bring Gilbert to her knees. She's not someone Emily can handle. Lilithia was the only commander, aside from herself, who could destroy Alforalis.
“You didn't kill him,” muttered Kanna, her eyes looking half probing.
“I thought of using it as a hostage for you to surrender, but Vermyna's sudden presence changed everything.” Menez paused for a while, before then continued asking with a more serious expression. “How? Will you accept me into the empire?”
“I'll decide in three days. Before those three days come, you can follow Xavier. Now, take us to the empire. You can do it, right?”
Menez. “I will take you to Verena,” he said, and in an instant they are already in front of the city gates hidden by the empire. Their displacement sensations were more subtle than high-level teleportation, Xavier praised Menez's skill.
“Give Emily to you, Kanna. I'll meet the 12th Division's soldiers and take them to Verada. Come, Menez. I don't know if Monica still remembers you, but she'd be happy if it was.”
