Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 16: After, Part 4

...—Axellibra, Emiliel Holy Kingdom—...

Rossia had to admit it was shocking to hear Saint Marcus and his troops had been killed. He did not expect them to end up in the hands of Eternity. The illegal union was not supposed to be strong; Marcus and his army were expected to wipe out Eternity, then mobilize to Etharna. In fact, that expectation was cleared out. Only Rossia came back alive. The rest were in a huddle to the realm of death.

“Lantas, how about Miss Fie?” rossia asked as she stepped up to follow the soldier sent by the high priest to pick her up. Last night he only gave a report; they did not discuss anything.

“...No news from Miss Fie. He hasn't even set foot here since yesterday.”

Rossia immediately nodded in understanding. If his nona says nothing, it is clear he does not expect Marcus and his army will return. Given that he also gave no instructions to send additional troops, it meant that Eternity was also not safe. Both sides have perished, that's the right conclusion. And, most obviously, this matter was completely left up for them to handle.

Shortly thereafter, Rossia arrived at the main church. He was not surprised to find King Lexata IX in a row of chairs circling a large round table. Marcus was one of the strongest saints; his loss and 15,000 soldiers was no small matter. Moreover, imperial meddling could not be underestimated. They have to decide what action to take.

Seeing the great priest descending the steps from the top floor, Rossia quickly occupied one of the few seats that were still empty ‒ happened to be between the idiot Alfonso and Saint Petra.

“Heh, I thought I would pay a visit to your grave today.”

Rossia ignored Alfonso's whisper of an idiot trying to find him; he had no time to serve the childish man. “Have you been informed of what will happen, Saint Petra?” ask for it in more sane individuals.

“That's why we're here, isn't it?”

Okay. Rossia retracted her words. He did not like these two men on either side. One is an idiot and one is big mouth, the other one sucks it's not playing. Why did he sit among them?

Since this was the closest seat, inner Rossia answered her own question, then she shook her head slowly and focused her gaze on the great priest who had already occupied her seat.

“First,” starts the pastor—which immediately succeeds in making everything focus, “Rossia, you will fill the position that Marcus left. You don't have a problem with that, do you?”

“Of course not, Pastor. You need competent men to fill the position that Saint Marcus left. I really understand that at this time no one can be more reliable to fill that position than myself.” Rossia nodded steadily in support of her own answer. “Very irrational if I refuse. Until you find another candidate, I'll fill that position.”

“...Alright, thanks for understanding.” The great priest smiled his grim smile. “Then I told you straight away what happened that Marcus and his army failed. Lucardia Crow. I didn't expect the vampire to be in Eternity. Among us, only I can defeat him.”

“...So, you want to say that Vampire Kingdom is behind Eternity?” ask Rossia quickly. “They've already soiled Islan and we just found out now? Isn't your clairvoyance ineligible, Great Priestess?”

“Nak Rossia..it will be very good if you shut your mouth tight and let me finish talking.” The priest added a friendly smile on his lips, but everyone knew that it had a different meaning.

…Rossia shut her mouth tightly, but not before she kicked Alfonso's idiot leg who looked like he was holding back a laugh.

...—Imperial Palace, Nevada, Vermillion Empire—...

Not yet Kanna opened the door of the throne room perfectly, seven words were already pierced into his ears. And Kanna did not enter; the door was closed, and she walked away. Kanna didn't have to ask what that meant. Xavier deliberately avoided it. That boy…. It was amazing how he could upset others.

Sighing deeply, Kanna stepped back into her study on the first floor. Regretful, indeed, but on the bright side Artemys will be back soon. They can talk more about this later. For now, he had to finish checking all the sheets of documents piled up on his desk. It feels like the papers are endless.

Oh, how Kanna needs Meyrin to lighten her duty!

...—Etharna, Favilifna Kingdom—...

“Let's go to Coralina!” elmira exclaimed cheerfully as soon as she set foot in the hallway—while making Meira and Hebranest (who had just returned this morning) look at her questioningly, demanding an explanation.

“We will take over Coralina indirectly,” explained the queen as she clapped her hands. “Mary will control Mortana and the courtiers, as well as the priest who presides over the second largest church in Islan. Ekralina Kingdom will be a puppet of Favilifna Kingdom.”

“Eh, aren't you going to give an ultimatum and get Mortana accountable? Isn't that what you said you were going to tell the empire?”

“Of course,” Elmira justifies Miera's question. “Only, it will be public. In the public eye, we will make Ekralina compensate for their brazen experiments. However, no one needs to know that Ekralina is a Favilifna.” doll

Cestapola, the famous East Port City, looks more crowded by the day. Xavier landed on the roof of one of the inns in the city half an hour after leaving Nueva with all the silence of his halfway room. Almost a minute later, Monica landed next to Xavier with a small bag on her back.

“You look to enjoy your time here,” commented the commander. “Do we need to spend time in this city on our return from Veria?”

“It depends. If the time spent in Veria is satisfactory, there is no need to spend time in this city when I return. However, if you just piss me off in there, upon returning from there we should spend two or three days here. However, Xavier, you still haven't told me about the task you received so we should head to Veria.”

Is correct. Xavier hasn't told Monica that her main goal is to save Artemys. But that doesn't mean he's hiding it. It's just, it would be more effective if he didn't say it now. After all, he wanted Monica to enjoy their trip to Veria. Instead of being happy, Monica will be upset if she tells her main reason now.

“I will tell you after we arrive in Veria,” Xavier said with a knotty smile on the lips.

“Good. Just make sure whatever it is your duty, it is not something unpleasant.”

“...Fun or not it is relative. Lefs go. The sooner we arrive in Veria, the better.”
