Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 5: Invisible Mask, Part 1

...—23rd June, E642 | Imperial Palace, Nevada, Vermillion Empire—...

In a meditating position, Nueva carries her mind venturing into the past night.

He did not see it directly, but he heard clearly what was happening. The moon moved, then fired a laser of light at Axellibra. Then, from Axellibra, the red laser shot towards the moon, and then the red laser was swallowed by a super-massive dimensional portal that made the moon appear black.

If either of those two lasers hit the empire, Nueva knew for sure the empire would vanish. A super massive crater will be created, and in a long time it will be transformed into a super lake. More than that, a bay might form—saking the scale of both attacks.

Unlike most people who only guess who dares to seek out the nephilim, Nueva knows fully who it is.

Vermyna Hermythys was the attacker. Lumeira hasn't reported to— and she hasn't even returned since yesterday. However, Nueva was sure Vermyna had already gotten what she wanted. [Complete Sensory] is already in the hands of the vampire queen. Eleventh Commander Nizivia von Clasta is no longer alive.

Of concern to Nueva are facts about the moon. [Complete Sensory] was magic that brought one's perception to the maximum level. One can feel the universe along with its contents in one ‒ it [Complete Sensory]. However, Vermyna controlled the moon right after getting that magic. What info did he have about magic that was incomplete? Or, is that the capability of the World Observer?

Nueva is certainly not blind to information related to Six Crests of Hope. However, Edward said those six things were no more important than Supreme Magic. Nueva believed in the information that Edward gave her, so she did not care about it. However, if Six Crests of Hope gave him an interesting ability like controlling the moon. There is no ill effect in having more power—besides the tendency to be arrogant, of course.

Ah, it was too late for him to think about Six Crests of Hope. It was only a small thing when compared to Supreme Magic, let alone the Throne of Heaven. Rather than controlling the moon, he could create his own moon after obtaining [True Reality]. Six Crests of Hope was not important at all; he did not need it. And with Throne of Hea—

—Nueva's line of thought stopped at once, his eyes spontaneously opening as soon as he felt someone's presence.

“Commander Xavier requests permission to meet with you, Your Majesty. This clearly correlates with what has already happened. It looks so serious, and cooler than usual.”

“What does he say?” nueva asked, his attention was already fully focused on the butler.

Honestly, he was a little surprised to hear what Edward had just said. Nizivia's death was anticipated. However, what Edward had just reported did not go into the calculations at all. Nueva did not think it would make Xavier request an audience with her at all. Could it be that he was wrong in judging?

“She said will only give you an answer directly,” response Edward. “Hamba is interested to hear what he wants to say, especially he brought with him Monica Elsesky. Therefore I have asked him to wait in the throne room, Your Majesty.”

Nueva paused for a moment, thinking of the exact possibility of what Xavier intended. “Alright,” the response a moment later, “let's hear what he will say.” Nueva stood up from her meditative position. “Ah, is Kanna with them?”

“No, Kanna is not with them. However, we can expect that the girl will see and hear what will be discussed in the throne room. His face looked like he was weighing. Perhaps his deep curiosity was due to the existence of Monica.”

“Once,” murmured Nueva, step forward. “Kend Kanna to you, Edward. Make sure he doesn't do anything unnecessary. I myself am enough to listen to what Xavier will say.”

“Alright, Your Majesty. But, make sure Your Majesty remains careful. Xavier can not in the least we underestimate.”

“You don't need to remind me of that.”

...—then, throne room—...

When Nueva arrived at the throne room through a special teleportation area behind the throne, he found two individual knelt-alike knights dozens of meters in front of the throne. His footsteps sounded slow, but they did not raise their heads at all. The aura of seriousness—however far-fetched it—looked clearly enveloping the two of them.

Nueva quickly sat himself on the throne. “Bless your head,” he said with a heavy intonation, and they simultaneously raised their heads. “So, what do you want to talk about, Twelfth Commander?”

“Without making small talk, Your Majesty, I want you to stop your intention of using Monica as a catalyst for the opening ritual of the gates of hell.”

It is understandable if Nueva chuckled at the speech. He has done a lot to slowly realize his goal. Going to hell is one of them. To go to hell, he obviously needs to open the gates of hell. Monica Elsesky is the answer. He is a descendant of the devil that Edward used to use to get out of hell. Nueva needed Monica's blood; there was no way she would nod and heed the commander's request.

However, Nueva did not laugh. He wasn't even surprised.

“If you realize that your identity has been known for a long time, your words are not at all surprising. Why should I stop my intention? You certainly have a satisfactory answer because you dare to come up with those words, right?”

“As you assumed, Your Highness.” Xavier did not show any doubt at all. “But, before I say proper replacement Monica to open the gates of hell, I want to confirm.”

Edward is the only son-in-law Monica Nueva knows. Edward is the devil. If Nueva fails to get Monica when the time comes, she will not hesitate to use Edward. He knew of no other demons besides Edward and Monica. Using a demon summoning ritual is not impossible, but it is sacrificing the life of the— ritual and not just anyone can perform that ritual.

So, hearing Xavier say there were other demons besides Monica made him a little curious.

“Alright, what is it?”

“Nizivia..did Your Majesty send Nizivia to face Vermyna Hermythys?”

“No,” elak Nueva. “That's Lumeira and Nizivia's business. I asked them to attack the Elf Kingdom; I never told them to attack Vermyna. If you don't know, Vermyna and I have a deal. There was no reason why I should ask them to attack him. You heard I had a close relationship with him, of course you know better why.”

“Lantas, does Your Majesty know that Commander Lumeira is Vermyna's accomplice?”

That's obviously an interesting question. Even Edward could not fully tell whether Lumeira was truly loyal or not. Clearly, he knew Lumeira had a certain relationship with Vermyna. Lumeira herself admitted that. Her ever-young body was thanks to the experiments that Vermyna helped with.

However, there is no evidence to suggest that Lumeira betrayed him. Lumeira always fulfills her duties without complaint.

“There are issues about Lumeira loyalty.” Nueva paused for a while, before then continuing. “Do you have any evidence that justifies what you said?”

“The fact that he hid Vermyna's status as the ancestor of the demons is enough as proof. I'm sure Lumeira's leaving Nevada by now. Whatever Vermyna assigned to her, it was done and she no longer had any reason to play your subordinate
