Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 47: Vengeance, Part 2

Lucifer didn't bother himself to dodge. He let the giant cannon Sataniciela put up about him. The magic bullet that the cannon fired was extremely destructive. A mountain will be eroded away if it is exposed. However, Lucifer only stayed in place. He was not repulsed even though a violent explosion engulfed a large area around him. Just not scratched.

The effects of the explosion disappeared, revealing a massive blast crater, and Lucifer was seen hovering in place with his twelve pairs of gray wings spread out.

“...Only that?” Lucifer really showed a disappointed expression. “If that's all, you're here to waste your life in vain. Really disappointing.”

As in the past, Sataniciela was instantly emotional when her strength was humiliated. The demon was already in the presence of Lucifer in an instant. The blow layered with the heat glided in a row trying to scorch Lucifer's body. And as before, Lucifer doesn't bother dodging. He took all the punches without blinking.

“Damn it!”

Along with that screech of exasperation, the intensity of the heat that Sataniciela's body released increased significantly. The fire began to burn by itself around the demon's body. He was like a candle wick ‒ all the material around him melted.

However, Lucifer still did not try to avoid it. All Sataniciela's punches had hit her, but she did not feel the slightest pain. That doesn't mean Sataniciela is harmless; she's already battered if she hasn't evolved. It's just that Lucifer is too powerful to be hurt by a three-dimensional being like Sataniciela. Her magic won't be able to hurt her, and her power is too weak to make a difference.

“If you want to hurt me, at least use the energy of life.” Lucifer gives advice (less good let alone try?). “In addition, you're just wasting your energy.”

...—Cestapola, Prov. Matepola—...

Meyrin had already nearly eleven minutes of standing still above the city walls, eyes looking intensely at the direction Monica was brought. In his hand was clutched a rapier that Kanna used as a weapon. He just needed to channel the mana to activate the rune formula that was on the rapier, and a Kanna clone of combat specialists would appear. However, despite having held it from earlier, Meyrin was hesitant to activate it.

Meyrin. He's confused. He did not know which action to take.

On one hand, he knew Kanna would have him activate the rune formula to save Monica. On the other hand, Monica had hidden a great thing from them. He was worried that Monica had only been playing with them. He deliberately approached Kanna for a specific purpose. Monica is a demon, and the devil is bad news for Islan. He fears Monica will use Kanna to permanently open the gates of hell.

He did not know if Monica had hidden it from Xavier. Otherwise, it means Xavier and Monica are conspiring. If so, it means Monica has used Xavier to get close to Kanna. Xavier may have been under Monica's manipulation. It's terrible to think about, and Meyrin is worried about Kanna's reaction if she finds out that she's only been used.

As the one in charge of protecting Kanna (although now the princess has been too strong to protect), she must get rid of any threats to her. Hurting Kanna physically is impossible, so her job is to protect Kanna from people who just want to take advantage of her. He had to ignore what happened and let Monica go. That's herjob.

Especially if what I'm worried about is true, if Monica (and also Xavier) has been using Kanna all this time.

If Meyrin is more than a strong definition, she will go after Monica and the demon who took her for answers. He needs to know why Monica looks surprised, but it does not rule out the possibility that it is just acting. After all, said the demon queen, Monica was a descendant of her subordinates. It could be that Monica was shocked to never meet the demon queen in person. He needed to confirm it, but unfortunately he did not exceed the strong definition.

…Meyrin cannot decide. He could never decide. He is only good at following orders. And before obeying Kanna's orders, her priority is to protect Kanna from harm of any kind.

“Ah, here you are apparently.”

Meyrin turned to the owner of the voice: Karen mel Matepola.

“I've heard it. Your colleague Monica is a demon and she has been taken away by the demon queen. Monica has deceived you and Princess Kanna. And you're confused now whether you want to save him or not, right?”

“What do you want, Governor Matepola?” Meyrin did not mince words; nor did he hide his dislike of the governor.

“I just want to offer help, but if you don't need it already.” Karen's lips curled. “In my opinion,” continued without waiting for the servant's response, “you must save the good name of Princess Kanna and the empire in general. The incident has led residents to think that Princess Kanna and the empire are allied with the devil. They are worried that you are trying to take over Islan to bring it to the evil land. They're worried history will repeat itself.”

Meyrin hated to admit it, but Karen was right. If the news that Kanna has a subordinate of a demon until it spreads, there will be a rebellion. Even the internal empire would refuse to accept Kanna as their Empress. If that happens, he has failed in his duty. Islan still has not forgotten how the demons once attacked Islan. Kanna can be hostile if this information spreads uncontrollably. This would also make the position of Emiliel the Holy Kingdom more politically powerful.

“We must prepare troops to overcome this,” continued Karen. “You must show that you are being framed. You don't know Monica's identity as a demon. You have to show me that you want to hunt him down. You have to show that the devil has infiltrated the internal part of the empire. Besides this would clear Princess Kanna's name, I guess this would also heighten her name and make Emperor's name fall. Oh, Edward Penumbra is so mysterious, what if he's a demon?”

Meyrin's eyes widened. “Sorry, I have to send a message to someone in Nevada. Excuse me.”

Karen's lips curled at Meyrin's departure.

“What are you planning this time, Miss?” asked Glimetra who had been silent next to Karen.

“Plan? What are you saying, Glimetra? I just have good intentions. Look, the curse that Kanna put on me doesn't work. Isn't this proof that I have a good purpose?”

“But Miss's smile isn't convincing?”

“Nobody doubts the intelligence of Miss.”

“Ha-ha-ha. Very funny you, Glimetra.” Karen turned and started to walk. “Let's go back. We need to help convince the citizens that Princess Kanna is not allied with the devil. We don't want anyone to take advantage of this situation which is clearly a misunderstanding to bring up the issue of rebellion in the empire, right?”

...—Mountains Amerlesia—...

Sataniciela voiced a frustrated cry seeing her attack had no effect on Lucifer. No matter what he did, Lucifer just looked at him bored. Is the difference in strength between them too significant? And what the fuck is that? Only life energy can hurt him?

“Spears of Hell!”

“If you can't use the energy of life, you better give up.” Lucifer said as he repelled the barrage of hellish spears with his right index finger. “It's getting boring. I don't want to waste time and let Commander Xavier recuperate. So, just get on with it: you want to give up and be my man like you should or die? Make your choice.”

“Sataniciela, should I help you attack?”

Sataniciela heard the worried question in her. But it was not surprising; anyone would be worried if it was in his situation.

No need, it's still useless. Lucifer can't be matched by anyone. Even I doubt if Vermyna can win.

“So?”

Monica, you're gonna die. Sataniciela did not plan to tell the demon, but suddenly she wanted to be straightforward.

“I'll die?”

You don't feel it?

“Taste what?”

…When our blood is being converted into energy. And I will immediately focus on making this body a center of energy. When I decide which supply controls the combustion process, this body will explode. You're gonna die.

“Then...not that you will die too?”

My soul will be drawn to hell; I will live in a new container. But you, your soul will be drawn into the realm of death.

“...Oh.”

You disappointed? Want to try to fight?

“What explosion will kill the creature?”

Huh, are you worried about that?

“He almost killed Xavier. So, if the explosion's gonna kill him, I don't have a problem. But before the explosion happens, let me move Xavier's body to safety. Xavier is so strong, I think I can never be of any use to him. He always saved me. Therefore, if my death can save him, I have no problem.”

Sataniciela did not like to hear that reason. He hated. Sacrificing yourself so that others can survive? So stupid.

I'll give you a minute; more than that I won't wait.

“Thank you.”

Sataniciela snorted, to Monica's thanks as well as Lucifer's offer. “Let me at least launch my strongest attack,” he said while eliminating all his weapons. “If I fail to hurt you, it's up to you to kill me or make me your subordinate, Lucifer.”

“One attack? Alright. I'll show you that it will also end in vain.”

Sataniciela instantly sacrificed all of her blood. And instantly the heat coming out of his body increased greatly. His skin peels and burns into fire. Lightning sparks even blanketed the surrounding air.
