Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 2: When the Sun Set, Part 5

...—Nevada, Vermillion Empire—...

Never before has there been in the history of the empire the day that a great panic struck. But today, as the sun was soon about to set, the panic swept across the empire. Even in the capital itself, people were speechless looking at the sky as if they had just woken up from a puzzling dream. It was too soon for them to understand what had just happened.

Of course it's understandable. How could they not be like that when suddenly the sky turned red and dark red energy gushed out as if wanting to annihilate them? Then, the heat energy that must have melted them disappeared just as suddenly?

What is incomprehensible is that those who put their shoulders down and just pass by, thinking “ah, it's just my hallucinations”.

Xavier, who was previously inside the Imperial Academy's library, now stood on the balcony outside the second floor of the perpus with a looking face. Unlike the majority of people who did not know the source of the panic-doubling incident, Xavier knew exactly what had just happened.

Evillia.it must have been her. And that raises a big question in Xavier's head: what makes the queen do such a stupid thing? It's not like him.

Frankly, it was too sudden. If the attack reaches the target, Xavier can't do much more than protect himself. Once he was in the room, Xavier couldn't get rid of what he didn't know. He also believes Nueva, Kanna and others did not expect that. Even if they happened to see it, at most they could only do the bare minimum. The reason, Evillia's attack is too fast and wide in scale to be overcome completely.

If the attack hits the target, only a small portion will survive ‒ the empire will be over.

“...But for Fie to eliminate such massive-scale attacks in an instant...”.

Xavier did not see if it was Fie, but that was the only correct answer to why the attack had suddenly disappeared. Apart from being anti-magic, the Church and the Knights Templar tend to be the protectors of the Islan.

If Fie remained silent, of course the prestige of the church would collapse instantly. Because, all this time every country was always forced to declare war before attacking. It's like licking a salivary that's been spit out over chicken shit—there's no way Fie's not gonna move.

Xavier jumped off the balcony and darted to the roof of the library building.

The first thing he had to do right now was to go see Evillia: Xavier had to know what made Evillia act following emotions. If it was just an assault attempt the empire was trying to make (even if it had to do with vampires), he wouldn't be that sorry. What Xavier thinks makes sense: a foreign vampire stands before Evillia, and the vampire manages to escape from her, and Evillia vents her frustration.

“Whatever it is, ..it is not right if I leave now,” muttered Xavier while frowning ‒ explaining why he was not in Nevada right after this incident in front of Kanna would be a very mind-blowing thing.

...—Mover Month—...

Nizivia recalled that the throne said “reported to moon”, but she did not expect that the words meant no metaphor at all. It is really on the surface of the moon. It was only fitting that they had never managed to find the Vampire Kingdom in Iceland. How could something that wasn't there be found? It was like looking for gold in a sack that only contained wheat.

Satisfied looking around, Nizivia's head looked up.

It was not the blue sky that greeted him, but the deep darkness. And most clearly, a giant round-shaped matter floated up there. It was like a month for where he stood, a month for the moon. However, Nizivia knew it was not the moon, but rather the place she and the others referred to as “world”. It was a beautiful object—much more beautiful than the arid place where it stood.

For some time Nizivia looked up like that, before then his gaze moved far ahead. Nizivia's feet stood on a fairly high mountain, her eyes could see a large hole there. It's not wrong that it's his access. If he jumps into it, he will arrive at the place of the vampires.

Clasping her daggers tightly with her legs bent, Nizivia threw herself up. The gravity on the moon's surface is smaller than the gravity at its origin, Nizivia's leap is higher and farther away than it's used to. And in just an instant, both of his legs were already standing right at the edge of the gaping hole wide.

“Lu-Depth Hole,” muttered Nizivia as her eyes scoured deep into the ‒ deep at the end of the hole appeared a speck of light.

However, Nizivia did not jump. He stood still there, his [Complete Sensory] devoting to the maximum level he could reach. Nizivia's target is only one: Vermyna Hermythys.

...—Nevada—...

Xavier sighed softly, bringing his gaze down. His eyes could see the soldiers already deployed to restore the order that had been disturbed. Cleria works fast. His division really reflects on their responsibilities.

Xavier's view moved on. Coinciding with the moment her eyes saw the setting sun, unbeknownst to her, Nizivia was far up there letting her body fall in a huge hole connecting the contents of the moon and its surface. Gravity pulls Nizivia down ‒ darkness begins to greet Xavier from the other horizon.

Some time Xavier stood there, looking silently at the slowly departing sun. It was only when the night blanket came with all its silence that Xavier jumped away. His jump was strong, he landed on one of the street corners.

Nothing hinders the comfort of Xavier's footsteps.

However, for some inexplicable reason, the air felt even colder.

Though, he was a fire magic user, but....
