Chapter 26: The Imperial Army, part 5
On the surface, Hekiel placed a palm on the lip of the hole just as the last giant chunk of earth had successfully smashed into the previous chunk of earth. The brown magic circle instantly covered the surface of the hole, and as soon as I then the pillar of land was compressed in such a way that its weight exceeded the mountain out and completely sealed off the access out. As an end, Hekiel used [Metal Manipulation Magic] to turn that pillar of land into adamantite.
“Hekiel...is this not excessive?” ask Dermyus—even he will not survive if he is in the position of Xavier. “Reinhart, she's alive?” he asked Reinhart when he saw that Hekiel was not writing, The focus of the Sixth Commander had been completely attracted by his magic.
“Prepare your strongest spell, Dermyus, Xavier will come out to the surface in half a minute.” Reinhart said with a serious expression. “I will give you a cue: release your spell when I bring Hekiel by teleporting.”
Dermyus did not need any additional explanation after hearing Reinhart's solemn remarks. He quickly took a distance of dozens of meters from his two comrades. The mana in high intensity instantly exuded from Dermyus' body. Sparks of whitish blue lightning sprung up in the blaze where it was.
As if following Dermyus' intentions, the sky darkened. Thick gray clouds formed in a short time. A giant whitish-blue magic circle appeared just below the thick gray cloud. A smaller blue magic circle appeared one meter below the giant magic circle. And so on until there were a total of ten magic circles whose space was filled by wild lightning sparks.
The two palms of Dermyus instantly fused together, which then made the lightning thunder with more craze. Dermyus has never released his strongest spell it—although it would be stronger if using black lightning—on anyone. That spell will wipe them out. Even Gilbert whose defenses are so strong will not survive. That's Dermyus' ultimate spell. He would give up if his opponent managed to get out of the lunge of his spell unharmed.
“Dermyus!” reinhart shouted from afar, instantly disappearing by teleportation with Hekiel.
Dermyus did not wait another second. Along with the crack of the huge adamantite pillar, Dermyus unleashed his spell: “End off everything.Cluster Ungodly Lightning!”
The adamantite pillar was smashed into pieces—it was as if it was crushed from the inside, the molecules repelled each other so as to be blown up from the inside. At the same time, the ten magic circles of Dermyus shimmered brightly and lightning in such great intensity descended in blinding speed. Xavier shot out of the hole, and the lightning instantly greeted him without mercy.
However, the shocking thing happened to Dermyus. He used to see Xavier stop his opponent's meteor at the Imperial Academy Arena, and today he saw his spell stop at exactly one inch above Xavier's raised right palm. If the meteor used to stop slowly, the spell now stops spontaneously. No slowdown at all. It was as if [Time Magic] was used to trap his lightning.
“Too much energy,” said Xavier in a volume that is still strong enough for Dermyus to hear. Then the young man turned to Dermyus, smiled and said: “Do you want to test your own spell, Commander Dermyus?”
Dermyus did not need to ask what Xavier meant by that question. His eyes could see clearly that now Xavier was standing where he was standing, and his legs understood very well that there was no footing under him. And, along with gravity forcing Reinhart's body to fall, the spell returned to motion.
An unusually large explosion shook the ground as all the lightning struck into the hole from which Xavier made it out.
“I owe you, Reinhart,” said Dermyus after the explosion subsided and the vibrations on the ground disappeared ‒ Reinhart had saved him from being hit by his own spell. Despite its extremely high resistance to lightning, its spell power was too great for Dermyus to withstand.
“That's not very important now, Dermyus,” Reinhart responded with cold sweat filling the temple. “How do we beat the kid? She's even more terrifying than Lilithia in my opinion.”
“Fire. Thunderbolt. Sensory. Teleportation. Stopping time…. Did Xavier ever perform illegal rituals? How could he have so much magic?” ask Hekiel—his expression between confused and upset. No commander liked illegal rituals, Hekiel's expression was well-founded.
“I don't know, but there's no way Miss Kanna would let her be commander if she did that illegal ritual.” Reply Dermyus. “I don't know how he could have so much magic, but there must be an acceptable reason. It is not surprising that he has magic that allows him to use a lot of magic like Lumeira.” magic
“I now don't care how he can have a lot of magic,” timpal Reinhart. “Most importantly, how do we beat him? He doesn't even look serious. Just look at the way it stands, he seems as if no matter we can attack him anytime.”
“You have an idea, Hekiel?” Dermyus throws a question at Sixth Commander, and the question is responded by Hekiel by firing hundreds of earth spears which are then converted into adamantite towards Xavier.
However, just like before, all those adamantite spears stopped in an instant. This time even Xavier did not stretch out his hand. All of the spears were like stopping themselves a few jengkal from Xavier. It was as if all the spears were reluctant to hurt the commander.
Hekiel didn't just stop. He made more spears, thrusting them from different directions. But it all ends the same. The spears stopped a few snaps from Xavier.
And, to the more surprise of Dermyus and his two colleagues, all of those spears then disappeared without a trace of their ‒ as if they had never been created.
“My magic is special,” said Xavier, finally confronting the three commanders. “One of them I can stop motion and remove the spell that was addressed to me. I can also exchange places with others.”
Dermyus immediately found himself looking at the three commanders, and before anyone could open his mouth, Dermyus was back in his place.
“I must say that I apologize,” continued Xavier with a serious expression. “You guys are strong, it's reasonable. You deserve to be a commander. I appreciate you as a commander. And clearly, the empire needs your strength and intellect as a commander. Unfortunately...”.
Dermyus had never felt fear before. He had already seen how upset Lilithia was. At that time he and the majority of the commander fell face down not warted. But that was only because Lilithia's magic couldn't they counter. But this time it was different. Xavier is just too strong. Dermyus did not even have time to blink when the commander was suddenly right next to him, between himself and Hekiel.
Even worse, Dermyus found his body numb. Every inch of his body was as if dead. Even blinking, he couldn't. Let alone blinking, his heart and lungs stopped. Dermyus could see death before him, and there was nothing he could do to avoid it. He refused to answer his call.
