Against the World II: Transgression

Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 30: It Begins!, part 2

The Hekiel assumption came true. The Knight Templar barged out from the mouth of the passageway.

They moved to the left and right side of the wall accompanied by a clear shock. They were not surprised by the existence of the Imperial Army that was waiting for them; the long, gaped wide trench was mercilessly what left them shocked. The shock was immediately put to good use by the 6th Division soldiers. They attacked the Knights Templar soldiers aggressively and barbarically.

One by one the Knights Templar were killed. Be it by the slash of a sword or the slash of a spell. Their bodies fell scattered. Confusion makes the cooperation of the enemy worse, can not release its full potential. The 6th Division of the Imperial Army really had the upper hand.

However, just as one could expect from a Knight Templar, they were able to get out of the pressure after a few minutes had passed.

Hekiel had lost sight of how many enemies had perished, which was obviously endless. He was tempted to close the passageway and kill everything in it, but it would ruin all the plans they had put together.

Finally Hekiel jumped off the city wall and darted over the 20-meter-wide trench. He did not even bother to carry a sword. As soon as he landed, the commander immediately grabbed the neck of an enemy soldier and smashed his throat. Hekiel snatched the warrior's sword and used it to block another soldier's sword swing. From that point on, Hekiel finished off soldier after soldier.

Unwilling to steal the stage from his troops, Hekiel then created a rung of stairs above the lip of the passageway and jumped slowly upward. He can attack from above. If the enemy tried to climb the wall, Hekiel could finish them off more easily if they were up there.

Whether this was a mere coincidence or his intuition was too sharp, Hekiel found six warriors on top of an adamantite wall. They were likely the assigned Magic Caster attacking from above, or perhaps the Magic Master. Clearly, Hekiel could not let them do what they were assigned.

The six soldiers were surprised to see him; they did not expect their presence to be known. Hekiel did not allow them to attack or simply send messages to their comrades. He finished off four soldiers with four adamantite spears and the remaining two with swords. Hekiel kicked the six corpses down, slightly widening beside the scene of the battle, making the corpses go straight into the deep trenches.

Gibral bit a finger thinking of another way they could enter the city. The moat extends in harmony with the length of the city wall. They can't turn it around. Meanwhile, jumping over the 20-meter-wide trench was too risky to be an easy target for the Imperial Army. The single easiest path did indeed defeat the Imperial Army in their own game.

Yet….

“I'll join the Magic Caster,” break up Gibral. There was no other way to pave the way for his troops; the Magic Caster Imperial Army was indeed superior to their Magic Knights. “Jez, I'm handing over the command here to you. Keep sending troops to attack through both sides of the wall.”

Getting the nod of the soldier in question, Gibral darted into the only passageway on the super-long wall.

“Give space!” he exclaimed at the soldier to the left of the passageway, darting from that narrow gap to position himself at the very front of the Magic Caster. “Stay attack!” gibral orders the Magic Casters behind him while preparing the spell.

It took him a few seconds to prepare, but eventually Gibral managed to catapult one of his flagship spells: Spiral Dragon Lightning.

As the name suggests, it was a dragon-shaped lightning that spirally rotated. It was as big as the mouth of the hallway. The spell darted unstoppably eliminating all the spells that the enemy released. However, before successfully killing the enemy Magic Caster, the dragon lightning was struck by two lion-shaped winds. Spell Gibral was about to win, but the victory was instantly lost when two lion-shaped flames fused with the wind. The explosion was not bad.

Gibral immediately used the effect of the explosion to attack. He ordered others to follow him. However, the same thing was done by the Imperial Army. They darted through the puff of smoke and dust that the explosion caused. Fighting broke out in the middle of the bridge.

Only, from earlier that confused him, Alfonso did not find a single report of the action of the Magic Caster on the wall there. They have started the action since then, but until now there has been no notification. Most confusingly, all who had gone up there never came down again. He has observed it carefully ‒ Alfonso sure not to see a single soldier who came down.

Could it be that they forgot to come down to give a report due to the willfulness of attacking? Or, their presence is known, and they're all dead?

For the first time in nearly two hours, Alfonso stood up from his seat. He ordered the remaining nearly 20 thousand soldiers to join the rest of Gibral's army. Then he quickly climbed up the stairs for the sake of the stairs. He's going to the top of the wall to make sure everything.

One of Alfonso's assumptions came true when he arrived at the top.

All the Magic Caster that had gone up here had been killed. The culprit is just one. From the badges he wore, he was clearly of a high position. Deputy commander, maybe. If so, it was no wonder the soldiers had already been wiped out. Alfonso could feel the aura of a fighter within the man.

“You Saint who led the Knights Templar, am I wrong?”

The saint did not bother himself to respond to that question. He pulled the sword from inside the scabbard and attacked.

Alfonso cursed himself. He had made the fatal mistake of underestimating the enemy. He is not a commander, his abilities are unequal to him, the saint thought.

That debasement is paid quite a bit. The man's kick had first struck Alfonso in the face before his sword had swung. It is thrown down diagonally, like a stone thrown in a slant to add to the broken power.

Buuum!

Alfonso's body slammed into the ground after a few seconds of gliding. The pain that his body was receiving was very real. He fell from a height without being able to control himself, and at high speed as well. Let alone an ordinary person, even a trained soldier would die if he was in his position, at least a broken neck or leg.

Alfonso who was about to delay to get up until the pain he received slightly subsided immediately canceled his intention.

The man had already jumped down from up there, swooping down sharply with a swung sword. Alfonso immediately got up while salting once back. The large-powered sword swing of the man succeeded Alfonso in blocking with his sword, but the difference in momentum caused the saint to crash backwards.

“I didn't think of taking out the enemy leader right away, but you're pretty weak, and that made me change my mind. I'll finish you off, and then your men follow.”

Alfonso now realized the most fatal mistake he had made. The man before him was not the deputy commander as he had expected. He was the man who made that adamantite wall, he was one of the Imperial Army Commander. His robe has been removed, but his presence is different. Moreover, the number of badges on his shirt was too much for a vice commander.

Realizing this, Alfonso Alsabnitz's personality changed immediately. Alfonso had already returned into the subconscious, and Alsabnitz came to the surface. It was clearly visible from the change in the color of the face of the saint. There was no sign of stupidity and manliness from his face; Alfonso Alsabnitz was now a serious and slightly arrogant expression.

“Don't be too proud of yourself for kicking me once, Sinner. You're too fast a hundred years to be so haughty in front of me.”
