Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 5: Invisible Mask, Part 4

Luciel shook his head slowly.

If he compares himself to Lucifer, he is more obedient to Edenia. But now, because of that, he regretted. Lucifer likes to defy, and his defiance makes the creature know more than himself. It was not Edenia who hid, but she who was too stupid for ever obeying.

After all, regretting it now was useless. Even thinking too much about it would only be a waste of time. He is an Archangel. What he felt at this moment did not reflect his status at all. On the contrary, right now he is not like a human being.

Ah, currently this body is a mortal body….

“What's so important that you want me here, Luciel?”

Luciel's eyes blinked, spontaneously turning to the owner of the voice. “Evillia,” said, her lips spontaneously curled. Although the curvature in the lip was faded more than Xavier's face, it radiated less naturally. “It's great that you finally came. What I want to say may be very upsetting to you, but I have to keep saying it.”

“So?” Evillia rolled her eyeballs while sitting right in front of the angel. “Let's hear, what is it?”

Luciel linked the two fingers, looking intensely at the elf— queen - the woman who crowned herself as queen.

“Catherine is gone ‒ Vermyna ‘kill’. Em and En also disappeared. Then Xavier took Monica to Nevada. Xavier can't even make me lose this body. He advised that they would be on the side of the empire. ‘The empire will rule Islan,’ so he said.”

Luciel expects the immortality to swallow Evillia. He anticipated the explosive anger from within the queen. Luciel had already assumed he would see which explosion was big and wild.

But none of those three things happened.

“Oh, so.”

That'sallthatis. No less, no more. There was no other response Evillia gave. There was not even a single speck of anger on his face. His expression was still the same as before he threw that information. In fact, Evillia did not show the slightest hint of surprise.

Luciel. “Your response is just that?” tanyanya. “Have you expected this before?”

“No, I didn't expect it.” Evillia denies. “I'm not in the mood to respond excessively. Alstroemeria has escaped ‒ traitors, vampire leg sycophants. I've sent some men to finish him off, but the stem of his nose has not been found. Menez is likely to have him overcome as well.”

Luciel's lips spontaneously curled upon hearing the confession. “You tired mind? Want to vent emotions with sparing?”

...—in months—...

“During the day, Menez.”

Menez who was previously confused, was now filled with shock. Although the vertical pupils of red eyes were not what he remembered, but the face and voice were unmistakably Heckart's.

“You have grown stronger, stronger than me who has become a vampire. At least, in the use of magic. If it's just physical, you still haven't surpassed me. Anyway, nice to see you again, Menez.”

Menez blinked one, two, three times, before then spontaneously exploring his gaze in all directions.

“Before I thought to take you to Veria, then we can live together happily there, Menez. However, the situation has changed. Back to Miss Vermyna's side is the best choice.”

“He asked too much,” ketus Lumeira, activate the rune circuit to curb the body at once mana Menez. “Alstroemeria, quickly get your business done. After that we will reunite ‒ I am tired of this weak condition.”

“I'll see you again after Alstroemeria finishes explaining, Menez.”

Menez could not say anything. Let alone that, just nod he can't. His eyes could only see the silent departure of Heckart and the Third Commander. Menez doesn't understand. What the hell is going on?

“Ah, where should I start explaining?” alstroemeria asked herself, her eyes looking kindly at Menez as her hands held her chin. “Where do you want me to explain, Menez? From the very beginning? Or from when you slept in my illusory lullaby?”

...* * *...

“Are you happy...because you don't have to finish off your own friends?” lumeira asked as soon as they came out of one of the spacious rooms in the castle, her eyes glanced at the young man.

“I've prepared myself for that, but I can't lie knowing Miss Vermyna changed her intentions to make me feel relieved. Thank you for telling me and Cainabel, Third Commander.”

Lumeira snorted hearing that. “My role as Third Commander is over. Alstroemeria as an Elf. Technically I'm still Lumeira, but call me Lumestroemeria. That's my real name.”

“It's a little confusing. I know Xavier used [Division Magic] to separate himself from Luciel. What about you, Lumestroemeria? How can you be two individuals with different bodies and personalities?”

“It's none of your business. You don't need to know. More importantly, you can bring your other two friends here if you want. Valeria can turn them into vampires. I'm sure Miss Vermyna won't take issue.”

“Elena and Jose don't need to be involved in something this big. From your report, Jose's been living happily there. No need to ruin it. Elena still has a family. After Menez can be assured to serve Miss Vermyna, I will ask her to return Elena to her family at Etharna.”

“That's a good decision. Even if they become vampires, they won't be so useful.”

“It was too rough, ..but I can't deny you.”

“Hmph, send my regards to Cainabel. Tell him, I challenged him to a fight after me and Alstroemeria fused.”

Lumeira did not wait for Hecrust's response, her legs drifted and then she simply disappeared from beside the young man.

Heckart—or who now prefers to be called Hecrust—looks for a while to the place where Lumeira disappeared, before then he turned into the hallway of the other castle. Heckart stepped quickly, his goal was a rung that would take him to one of the castle's towers: Cainabel's favorite place besides the lunar surface.

...* * *...

“... That's the story of why you found yourself here, Menez,” explains Alstroemeria ending the story. “You can be angry, upset, yelling, or whatever. However, Menez, I just want you to always be by my side. You have to believe that. Our togetherness.it is absolutely not a lie.”

Alstroemeria knelt before Menez, who was sitting with his hands and feet tied. Both of his hands moved slowly, framing Menez's face gently. His gaze was so shady, full of love, so soothing.

“I love you Menez. I want you to be by my side always.”
