Against the World II: Transgression

Against the World II: Transgression
Chapter 17: Transcendental Being, Part 2

Life would be easier if one could fly. There may be no living creature that refuses to justify that sentence. Even a fish swimming freely in the ocean would probably nod their heads at that sentence. Flying is an ability that is characterized by every creature that needs to take pains to reach somewhere. However, whether one wants wings or not, the answer to this varies.

For Xavier, the wings will only interfere. The shape of the human body is the most ideal. With the right magic, they can fly without any aids. Fire magic can be used to give an upward thrust. Wind magic is even more useful. Like Monica, she can control the difference in airflow which gives her the ability to fly without the need for wings. Water magic users can also fly, but they will throw more mana than fire magic users.

However, even though those three elemental magic could give one the ability to fly, there was still nothing more effective than [Flight Magic].

Therefore, even though they could fly up to Veria without resting, Xavier and Monica still chose to rest every one hour flight. They flew at twice the speed of sound in the air. That is, in less than six hours they will arrive in Veria. Since they rested an average of half an hour every hour of flight, they would need a total of eight and a half hours to arrive at Veria.

From leaving Islan until the sun slips twenty-five degrees from its peak point westward, Xavier and Monica have come half way. If they continue their flights at the same speed, they will arrive in Veria late at night. The time difference between Veria and Islan was the reason why they would arrive late at night.

Even though they were resting, it did not mean that they did not move at all. Xavier and Monica rest on a floating island that moves southeast like a sailing ship. The island was perfectly circular in shape with a radius of 10 meters, but its highest point was thirty meters. Monica made it with [Earth Magic], and Xavier made it float with [Reverse Law]. The island sailed thanks to Xavier's [Wind Magic] which could not be said to be weak.

Although the island is like a small floating hill, but as a place to rest it is not bad at all.

At its highest flat peak, Xavier and Monica sat face to face separated by a small bonfire. The fire was not to warm, but to ripen some of the marine biota that were nearby. Their rest this time is also used to fill the stomach.

Waves as high as a dozen meters hit each other and split, producing a distinctive pounding. However, the splash of water due to the meeting of the two waves did not hit the floating island at all. No waves hit the island; all waves that want to hit the artificial island will automatically turn around.

There was nothing preventing the artificial island from sailing diagonally to the southeast. There was also nothing to disturb the silence that enveloped Xavier and Monica. The disbursement that breaks the air is not a distraction at all, but a melodic accompaniment that makes the silence perfect.

If an artist scratches ink to capture the moment, surely romance fans will give it masterpiece value.

...* * * *...

In contrast to her arch-enemy, Veria from then on until now consisted of only five empires and an independent territory.

There are a total of eleven major cities in Karna Great Empire, and the largest city among the eleven cities is none other than Nareya—it is the city whose name is preached on the figure of Nareya, the god was worshipped by Karna the founder of the empire (although it was later discovered that Nareya was simply the nickname of Karna for Edenia, the name of the city was not changed).

Nareya is a pretty big city. From the furthest point to the other farthest point, the distance separating it reaches 150 kilometers. If one were to ride a horse, they would almost require two hours of travel. Even among all the capitals of Veria, none was wider than Nareya. Therefore, if Veria wanted to be given the capital, Nareya would be the main candidate.

Nareya is divided into two parts by the River Gamuna, the largest and longest river in Veria. Uniquely, the hemisphere is very perfect, as if deliberately made so that East Nareya and West Nareya look identical. However, what is even more unique is the palace that floats in the middle of the river—istana which is the meeting point for the two sides of the bridge that connects the west side of the riverbank with the east side.

The Agni Great Palace. It was the palace where the emperor who ruled Karna Great Empire lived and settled down. Although the palace with a total diameter of half a kilometer was seen floating on the water, its position did not change in the least. The rushing water flow did not give him any effect at all. However, if one were to trouble themselves with diving, they would naturally know that the palace was not actually floating.

Shiva Rashta, a twenty-year-old man of several months who has been the emperor since he was eleven, sitting on his throne with his right foot on his left leg—his left cheek rested on his left fist, both eyes closed.

The throne stood fifteen meters above the throne floor. There were a total of forty-five steps standing in a row, separating the floor and the emperor's chair. There were a total of ten seats between the red carpet connecting the throne and the door of the room, five on the left side and five on the right side. Kneeling full of submission between the two columns of seats was a tan-skinned woman with a piercing in the nose. Other than the woman, there was nothing else.

“Hamba facing, Your Highness.” The woman said, her voice firm but gentle at the same time. His head that initially looked down then looked up, looking at the emperor who behind his throne there was a symbol of the sun that glowed. “What tasks should I do?”

“...Saraya, inform everyone not to prevent Xavier von Hernandez from reaching Asura Castle.” Shiva said without opening his eyes, but Saraya knew that the emperor saw her. “Inform also so that none of them attempt to spy on Xavier. My main purpose of bringing Artemys el Vermillion was not to ask for his help, but to have Xavier set foot in Asura Castle.”

“Hamba understood,” Saraya's response was accompanied by a lowered head, then she disappeared in a grain of light.

A second after, the sun symbol that was glowing behind the throne began to dim, and within five seconds total darkness engulfed the throne room.

#Mossakh will take ideas from the Soviet Union. Nirvala will represent Nusantara. Mikazuki is juxtaposed against Imperial Japan. Jiangzhou is of course the Chinese dynasty. Karna Empire will certainly take inspiration from the story of Mahabrata (India).
