Ch. 276 - First Friend
The day turned bright, the sun crawled up making the air like burning the bodies of the residents who were milling on the city road. Just this time Ren Yuan saw this crowded White Fog Valley, he was unceasingly amazed to see the surrounding hubbub until finally his face hit the back of someone in front of him.
"You–!? Why did it suddenly stop?!" angered Ren Yuan rubbed the base of his nose a few times, pushing the young man's back forward.
"Until here you come, the rest I'll go alone." Xin Fai left Ren Yuan and went towards the dock. A large bridge crosses the waters that end Renwu City.
Ren Yuan chased after him hurriedly unwilling to be left alone like that, whichever way he wanted to just obey without explanation. Especially in the heat of the sun, but Ren Yuan was a bit doubtful about the weather today. Above the sky, the sun was being overshadowed by dark clouds at the southern end. It seems that in less than an hour it will rain.
"Wait on! Where are you going? Heiii..."
Xin Fai pointed at the high seas that lay ahead there, dark clouds as well as lightning that resembled electrical chains raging there. Instantly, the storm wind blew hard to make the clothes both flying unsteadily.
"It'll be raining soon, you better go back to the residence. I can finish it myself."
"Maybe I can help you?" Ren Yuan was still adamant in coming along. Although her curiosity about the figure Xin Fai was about to meet was gone.
"You're not helping at all the trouble." The young man chattered flatly but it was enough to offend Ren Yuan, however the girl had not done anything useful since this morning.
"Then... Let me come, just wanna take a look."
"Well, now you consider this a tourism trip? Never mind, don't trouble me anymore. Just going home is too dangerous for you."
Not hearing the reply, Xin Fai turned her gaze towards Ren Yuan, looking down at the girl's face. "How do you think I am?"
"Huh?"
"I trouble you?"
Again the two were faced with an awkward situation, while Xin Fai was busy thinking of Ren Yuan's answer drifting in his own mind. Feeling too forced for the sake of the young man beside him when he did not necessarily accept it.
Ren Yuan thought not to trouble the young man this time after seeing him so seriously. And also from his words that were indeed quite honest, Ren Yuan was indeed troublesome in his affairs.
"I'm sorry I said it was troublesome... But, I mean you don't have to come. It's all for your safety."
"You're worried about me?" said Ren Yuan carefully, his cheeks began to meet red when he saw his interlocutor turning his face to the open sea. Not answering anymore.
Finally Ren Yuan decided to wait for him at the dock until Xin Fai came home, his smile continued to expand since a few minutes ago. Xin Fai had just ordered one ship for himself. He turned his head towards the old Ren Yuan, slightly spouting out words.
"If I don't come home until tonight, come back to your house. Maybe this trip will be a long one."
Ren Yuan gave a small nod as he waved his hand as the ship moved away, leaving the noise of Renwu City which was now darkened by cloud overcasts.
The small ship crossed the vast ocean amidst the relentless lunge of the huge waves, Xin Fai used a spirit body as his small ship sank into the waves. Now he floated in the air while looking around him. Somewhere where the Water Ruler Demon must lie, he could only search while wiping his face which every second slapped the rainwater.
A long time searching for Xin Fai finally gave up, he called Lang out and in a moment the wolf appeared. Standing quietly above the turbulent waves, the wolf circled around the surroundings meticulously.
"You're looking for that Water Ruler Demon?"
"Yes, I've been looking for him since, but he didn't show up. Why, huh?" said wondering. Maybe Lang has the answer to this considering that the wolf is indeed quite smart.
Xin Fai chuckled. It was indeed the fierce face of the wolf that he missed the most. "Yes. If need be I'll tell you about the she-wolf I've met, maybe you're interested."
Lang snorted while turning his lazy eyeball, making his master laugh out loud.
"You're alone with that girl, since I died apparently your life has gotten more colorful," Lang said. "Fear that girl's infected with your stupidity." He continued flat, making Xin Fai stunned after years of not hearing the words containing such insults.
"You really are Lang..."
"meaning?"
"Your mouth is like a knife, juxtaposed with the heavenly sword I think your tongue is still sharp."
Lang showed signs such as wanting to run amok, he scratched his feet in the water like he wanted to gore. "I'M TORN, HUH?!"
"Oh my goodness, don't be angry. Now we must focus on finding the Water Dragon. The waves are getting higher, this way we're gonna be rolled up by this sea."
Lang began to tame as before, "Take out the Blue Jewel of Light belonging to the Water Dragon, when he felt the power of that thing he would come out looking for it."
Xin Fai took out the Jewel that Lang meant from the space ring, the gem that his mother gave him now shone brightly within the grasp of his hand. Slowly but surely now the high waves began to recede, changing the calm of the sea along with the small wind.
Not too long later a larger wave appeared revealing the figure of the Water Ruler Demon who was now gaining weight, his terrifying face looking in all directions and now focused on a single point. He could clearly see that there was a young man with a wolf there. It feels familiar.
His huge body rolled and spun directions, ruling the sky completely. Xin Fai felt a little disinclined as she looked back at this demon, it still felt as terrifying as it used to be.
"You really kept your promise?"
"Y-yes... That's it, but...." Xin Fai scratched behind her ears hesitantly asking for help, she was sure it was very difficult to persuade the Water Dragon to help her.
"But what?"
"Do you want to help me defeat the Ice Demon Lord?"
The Water Dragon turned shocked upon hearing that, for a lifetime in the past thousand years he had never felt such shock. The demon sniffed the water making its surface wavy.
"You came here to make a joke? Or is he in deep trouble with the North Pole's ruler?"
Lang had already realized this all had something to do with his reawakening, as soon as the Thunder Fox would not help humans without rewards. Because basically the fox is not so fond of humans.
"You're doing this because of me?" lang asked suspiciously, his face turning grim as Xin Fai dodged. It was obviously hiding something from him.
Guilt now haunted him, Lang himself did not know why Xin Fai resurrected him like this. He has to bear a lot of responsibility.
"Lang, I can't lie. The Lightning Fox wanted her life gem from the Ice Dragon. And I have to beat him to get it."
"You're not supposed to do this, are you? What's the point of bringing me back?"
"the user? What, huh? I don't have a reason, which is obvious because you're my first friend."
