Ch. 45 - A Thousand Spirits
The situation grew more precarious as the rat squeals unceasingly echoed all over, Xin Fai straightened his legs and stood in front of Lang steadily.
"I will not die in this place! Even if the sky wants it!" Xin Fai shouted loudly, the sky had already started to darken and showed signs of rain.
The distance with the sea of rats was only a dozen meters, Xin Fai let out a long sigh while making a determination. He must protect the now unconscious Lang, even though his life is at stake.
While pulling the sword Xin Fai raised his concentration as high as possible to deal with all the possibilities that would happen.
As their distance was about to collide Xin Fai raised the sword high with all his might, a golden light mixed with dense smoke shot out from the sword.
"The Book of Seven Keys - The Path of a Thousand Spirits!"
The book in Xin Fai's pocket came out then floating in the air along with a bright light that made the rat retreat, and in a few seconds sheet by sheet it opened very quickly to bring out thousands of spirits in it.
Thousands of spirits flew wildly towards the rats and unexpectedly nearly half of them were eaten by the spirits that came out of the book.
Xin Fai was stunned, her legs were trembling at the miracle that was far from human reason, she fell to her knees looking at the spirits that were flying with a smoke shape that resembled a human face.
Every mouse that the spirit eats will become a puff of smoke, Xin Fai did not stay silent. He smashed hundreds of rats in front of him using another style.
"The Book of Seven Keys - The Half Moon of the Circle!"
The slash from the sword even split the crowd of rats within a distance of twenty meters. Xin Fai was aware of the difference in strength of that stance at the moment, if he had something worth protecting then the true strength of the book would come out.
"You've noticed it?"
A smoke gathered and revealed Kaibo who was now holding the Book of Seven Keys floating in the air.
Xin Fai nodded slowly without taking her eyes off the sea of rats. He tries to protect Lang who is now unconscious, a bit of guilt haunting him.
Of course Lang was exhausted after returning home to transport foodstuffs to the village before not to mention running for hours avoiding these rats. Lang was supposed to be exhausted, but the wolf was still pushing himself.
"This book comes from the Qing Empire, its science is much higher than you've ever seen and what makes it Qiang Jun." Kaibo stared at the Book of Seven Keys which was now open like a wind.
"No need to worry if your inner strength runs out, we spirits will give you a little bit of our strength." Kaibo said calmly as he proffered the book and received Xin Fai immediately, his gaze falling on the figure of the rat demon king who was now angry because his children had been slaughtered by the spirits.
The dark sky at that time made the sword in Xin Fai's hand shine brightly, the carvings seemed more radiant than usual. Xin Fai approached the fat-bodied rat demon king carefully.
While trying to advance a wave of rats attacked him, some were successfully fended off by Xin Fai while others were eaten by the spirits.
With Xin Fai's Light Steps leaping among the tall trees, he aimed for the stealth blind spot and upon finding the exact time Xin Fai slashed his sword.
"The Book of Seven Keys - The Half Moon of the Circle!"
Xin Fai seemed to understand, her skin was much harder than ordinary humans due to the training in the waterfall. He would not be eaten so easily with his skin condition like that. At least it helped him a lot at a time like this.
While being focused on attacking the mouse demon Xin Fai was made worried as hundreds of rats ran towards Lang. He was about to save the wolf but his enemy first entered the attack making him forced to dodge.
Kaibo pointed his hand towards Lang and when it was also hundreds of spirits flew towards Lang quickly and ate greedily the rats there. Xin Fai breathed a sigh of relief after seeing Lang was fine.
While flowing a deep energy into the sword Xin Fai recalled his training all along. He closed his eyes with a deep breath, suddenly his eyes opened wide and then ran as fast as lightning.
Xin Fai swung the attack right at the stealth stomach, Xin Fai's eyes turned golden with a blade of light that moved wildly about the body of his enemy. The mouse demon retreated but Xin Fai continued to shorten the distance.
The rat demon called out to his children but only hundreds more remained, while the spirit on Xin Fai's side increasingly ate them.
"We can finally have dinner after all this time..." Kaibo muttered at that moment, Lang who finally regained his senses opened his eyes and gasped in shock. He looked around and tried to understand what was going on.
"No need to worry, your master is not a weak person. Look at him fighting there, his movements are beautiful yet full of danger. That rat demon could even be knocked back by it." Kaibo acknowledged Xin Fai secretly despite never saying it directly.
Lang stared at his master for a long time, if not for Xin Fai it was certain that he was now nothing more than a skeleton of a bone.
Xin Fai moved increasingly vigorously but still not enough to kill the rat. The stealthy fur was like a hard iron, it was very difficult to pierce through it using a sword.
While the mouse's stealth claws were extremely dangerous, he got quite serious scratches as a result of the attack.
"If attacking him like this would take hours and I don't have enough stamina even if these spirits help me."
Xin Fai took a few steps back to recover his strength as well as the demon. The wounds on the mouse's stealth body instantly closed easily, making Xin Fai unceasingly cussing in the heart.
Lang was about to help but Kaibo forbade him.
"We have to let the boy face it alone if you want him to get stronger."
Although not happy to be ordered, Lang complied, he let Xin Fai face the demon himself.
