Ch. 55 - Xin Fai's
A middle-aged man entered the room and instantly obtained a deadly gaze from Lian Sheng. Cold sweat poured down his forehead to make him swallow repeatedly.
Of course he already knew the mistake he made and it would be fatal.
While looking down at the man named Wu Ang facing Lian Sheng, he did not dare to raise his head.
"There's something I want to ask you about the price of this inn," Lian Sheng said firmly. His face was very different when talking to Xin Fai earlier.
"Did you deliberately raise the price of this inn for a little boy like him?"
"I-I don't know, I thought he was just playing around with me earlier..." Wu Ang could not think because his fear was greater for Lian Sheng who was about to eat him alive.
"Even if you know she's carrying a baby in her cradle?"
"Master, I–" Wu Ang looked at Xin Fai who was now looking at him disappointedly. The boy did not expect himself to have been deceived because he had never rented an inn.
"And you know what? The baby in his trunk is my son. What would be his fate if Xin Fai did not have the gold coins to pay for it?!" Lian Sheng's tone rose, he was furious at the behavior of this innkeeper.
"I'm sorry, sir. I am guilty indeed. Please forgive me," Pinta Wu Ang deeply regretted his actions. He apologized to Xin Fai who now only put on a carefree face.
"You shouldn't treat people based on your own judgment." Xin Fai shook her head slowly. He was not so understanding of the business world like this that he did not bother about it any further but was different from Lian Sheng who was still upset.
"I will make a calculation with you, your inn will be evicted from this place soon."
"Master, please don't! I have no other job than this... How will I support my wife's child?"
"Did you ever think that way of this kid if you didn't have the money to rent your inn?"
"Sir, I regret what I did..."
Lian Sheng was grieving, he was really fed up with this kind of behavior. "Just regretting what you did you think would make me forgive you?"
Persuaded though Lian Sheng will still displace this inn because he has great influence and power in Houbi City, so it is not difficult to slow down the business owned by Wu Ang.
Wu Ang's now teary gaze fell on Xin Fai, he approached the boy about to complain.
"Sir, I'm sorry for raising the price too high on you... I really regret this act of mine. I will return ten of them to you, please help me to keep my inn from being evicted from here," Wu Ang put on a hopeful face. He felt Xin Fai was a good person.
"Why should I help you?"
That response was beyond his expectations, Wu Ang's face turned ugly. Both her eyebrows dropped and her tears were about to come out.
"I have to feed my pregnant wife, if this is the case..."
There was the sound of breath coming from Xin Fai.
"Forget it, I forgive you anyway. So this problem doesn't have to be made wider." Xin Fai's proposal made Lian Sheng unblinkable, he had not expected after being treated as soon as Xin Fai remained pitying Wu Ang.
Wu Ang thanked her dozens of times.
"Hey, that doesn't mean I can't do it, does it even though you've got Xin Fai's support?"
"Sir...."
"Reportment..." Xin Fai yawned widely, she was like exhaustion listening to everything. At least he wanted to lay down his body right now.
Xin Fai ended the debate between them calmly, "This inn will not be relaxed. But, if Uncle Sheng wants to give him a little calculation please."
Wu Ang slightly breathed a sigh of relief at the decision, he now understood Xin Fai's character completely. The child was not an innocent child like most of him saw, Xin Fai's thinking was much more mature. Such people themselves are usually people who have tasted the bitterness of life.
Wu Ang walked out of the room as Lian Sheng flicked his hand, the man was extremely dislikeful of Wu Ang in the slightest. He turned his face towards Xin Fai and instantly his face warmed up again.
Although it was unusual to be called like that except by her family Xin Fai also actually did not mind, given Lian Sheng's friendly nature to her.
"Yes, I'm exhausted after a few days of travel."
"Well then, rather than me bothering you continue it's better you agree to it now. Later in the afternoon my bodyguard will pick you up here and we will have dinner together at my residence."
Xin Fai was about to resist quickly before Lian Sheng first refuted.
"What if I give you the gift?"
Xin Fai grimaced wryly. The name of the gift is definitely tempting, especially if the gift comes from a noble family. He tried to give up again.
"Uncle Sheng, I'm happy with your offer but I can't stay here too long."
While considering Xin Fai's words, Lian Sheng went silent for a long time. Actually he had another reason.
"Ah... I thought you could stay at my place until my wife's body was found. I really want you to come later," he lamented with a small breath.
"I've mourned before for Madame Xia He."
"By the way, about my wife's funeral... Did you make the tomb there for him?"
His question was answered with a nod to Xin Fai, Lian Sheng increasingly did not know what kind of kindness the child should repay. It seemed that even his possessions were not enough to pay for it.
"You're such a good boy, I don't know what else to say..."
Lian Sheng took out a medal belonging to the Lian family. He simply thrust it at Xin Fai.
"What's this?"
"I want to make you my adopted son."
"What?!!" Xin Fai screamed.
When he was about to protest again Lian Sheng immediately said goodbye, he and his guards left from there leaving Xin Fai who was now wide in disbelief. He was confused trying to understand the situation.
"Did I hear wrong?!"
Lang woke up to Xin Fai's scream, he snorted then yawned so wide.
"A rut like this can make you possessed? What kind of demon is coming to you?"
Xin Fai was still speechless and wished Lian Sheng's words were just a joke.
"Hey I'm hungry. Did you buy anything I could eat?" Lang unpacked Xin Fai's luggage earlier but found no meat at all. His tail bulged here and there when he could not find food.
"Hey weird boy, you hear me?"
"Shut up for a minute you're a chatty wolf, don't you see in your eyes that I'm surprised?!" xin Fai's anger rose with blood.
"What does your surprise have to do with my starving stomach? Where's my food?!"
Xin Fai let out a rough breath while standing in his place, after his somewhat clear mind he had just remembered forgetting to buy meat. All he remembered was baby food and small clothes that should be worn on Lian Kaili. But the baby had already been brought by Lian Sheng.
"Hm... How'this? There is no other food besides this. Do you want to eat toddler porridge?"
Lang growled in annoyance.
"THAT'S TRUE!"
