SURVIVORS
202 Chapter. Operation Barrel

"Laras, I have to slash your back a little. There seems to be a blood clot collecting there. That's what keeps you feverish" says Dr. Chandra.

"Yes.dok .... Just do it ..," said Laras lirih.

"Tabib will give you the potion to put you to sleep. But maybe the pain will be felt after that. Are you ready?" ask Dr. Chandra again.

"Help ...." Laras nodded weakly.

"I'll take care of you. It's okay to hurt a little, as long as you recover quickly," said Liam encouragingly.

The physician, his daughter and Yabie entered the room. The girl approached the bed. He carried a bowl of medicinal liquid with a pungent aroma. Baras drank it obediently.

Liam helped turn Laras' body upside down in order to lay face down. Then Liam came out and let the girl cut the clothes off the back of Laras.

Chandra's doctor and physician have prepared the equipment needed to make the incision and clean the frozen blood or pus if there is one.

The barrel began to sleep. Yabie sat on a chair near the head of Laras. Preparing to help if during the process, Laras woke up in pain.

Dr. Chandra is preparing for surgery. The healer applies the herb to keep the wound from infection.

Outside the room, Liam walked back and forth in front of the door.

"You're like an agitated husband waiting for his wife to give birth." a mocking voice came from behind him.

Liam. "Alan!" shaken surprised. Then Liam hugged Alan suddenly.

"Huh, I'm errat. You're like a kid missing a toy!" alan was angry. Liam's body pushed away.

"Belvin. That's because I'm happy to see you. You should be proud" Liam said with a smile.

"How did you get here? Did you know the healer's house before?" ask Liam.

"No. When Sunil was sick, the old healer came to us to the cottage." replied Alan.

"Then how did you get here?" ask Liam astonished.

"Eh, what's Sunil sick about? Isn't there a doctor Chandra, why call a healer?" ask Liam again.

"You have so many questions." Alan's head bobble.

"Ah, forget. Come sit. I'm just worried about Laras" Liam said honestly.

"Calm down. Doctor Chandra will definitely do his best. Let's just pray." Alan was optimistic.

"Hemmm. Hope everything goes well" Liam said.

"Where's Dean? He's not coming here?" ask Liam.

"Actually, we are currently renovating the cottage. If it's not resolved soon, it'll be troublesome if it suddenly rains." Alan explained.

"So you guys take turns. That's good" said Liam.

"Well... Oh yes, tomorrow is the funeral day of his mother Yoshi and Yabie. We're going to the town hall. Maybe after that, I can see you here."

Alan told Dean's team plan. Liam nodded in understanding.

"Alan, can I ask you something?" ask Liam.

"What about?" reply Alan.

"After I arrived at this village, I realized that this village looked very old. Then how can Dean have a sister who's the wife of the city leader? Is her sister also trapped in this world?" ask Liam curiously.

"About that, it will be told. Because of the length of the story. Maybe 7 days and 7 nights will not be finished" Alan teased Liam.

For a moment Liam was confused, then became upset after realizing that Alan was playing tricks on him. The arm of Alan.

"Ouch...." Alan complaining.

"If you don't want to tell a story already. I'll ask Dr. Chandra." Liam put on a pouty face.

"Hahahaa.you turned out to be cute too if it was like that," ledek Alan.

"What a cute thing. You think I'm a little boy?" Liam glares.

"Gtkv." Alan closed his mouth holding back a laugh.

A few monents later

"Alan, are you outside? Coming in!" there's a call from Dr. Chandra.

"Yes doc, I'm coming in" Alan said, standing up from his seat.

Alan opened the door and entered. Liam followed her from behind.

"Liam, you wait outside first" doctor Chandra ordered sternly.

"But...."

But Alan was instantly speechless seeing his back open in front of him. Yabie was already sweating, keeping Laras from being in too much pain.

"You see this."

Doctor Chandra points to the Barrel's spine.

"That looks shifted," Alan replied quickly.

"Well, can you reconnect it? With your power it might be shifted without being touched." Please doctor Chandra.

Alan tilted his head in doubt. His forehead wiggling. But if it's not done, then Laras will continue to be in pain.

"I'm not a doctor's orthopedist. But let me try to plug it in" Alan replied.

"Okay, we'll start right away. Yabie, do you need a break?" ask Alan.

Yabie took a deep breath, then nodded. "Let's start."

After Yabie took out her ability, Alan also began to concentrate on moving his fingers. Pulling a vertebra that shifts from its place.

The body of the barrel looks a little vibrating. He seems to feel his pain. Yabie channeled more of her power to help Laras.

*

"Ah, done too. Is that enough doc?" ask Alan.

Dr. Chandra examined it more thoroughly. He nodded in satisfaction.

"It's quite. Thank you Alan. Now just shut it down" said Dr Chandra.

"If you need any help, just say it. I'm out first" Alan walked out of the room.

"Hows it? Why barrel?" assault Liam when he sees Alan coming out.

"none. The clotted blood remains have been cleaned. Everything's fine now. Doctor Chandra will stitch the wound up" Alan said.

"Oh, thank God if it's okay." said Liam relieved.

The two sat back and waited.

"Why did you come in then?" Liam came back to the question.

"You're really persistent huh. Ahahaa.." Alan laughing. It's not easy to avoid Liam's big curiosity.

"Don't play me. Tell me what's up? Is the barrel condition bad?" Liam was worried.

"Tck! That's why I'm so lazy to say it. You're an apothecary. Look atyou. You got this strong on him. Do you like it?" seduce Alan to take Liam's mind off.

"Alan, it's not like that. When I was about to die, Robert vanished into the other side of the world. Laras kept me. You tau? He was alone looking for food for both of us. He didn't leave me at the time. In fact, he could have gone into the crack of the world to catch up with Robert. I owe him my life" Liam said. His tears flowed without warning.

Alan felt overwhelmed. That's how he feels about his team-mates. Depends on each other. Luckily Dean's team was always together. Unimaginable difficult if scattered as experienced by Robert's team.

"You can calm down now. We've found each other. And we'll keep looking after each other." Alan patted Liam's shoulder warmly.

Liam nodded. His face is still sad. But something started to disturb his mind.

'Did I like Laras? Or just a sense of debt?' his inner.

Alan smiled dikulum looking at Liam's face flushed red as he fell silent.

'Oh, this kid. He didn't even realize he liked Laras.'

Alan duduk diam. Pandangannya jauh ke langit sore. Pikirannya mengembara pada keluarganya. Ada rasa rindu menggores hatinya. Rasa nyeri yang menusuk teramat perih. Alan mengatupkan rahangnya keras menahan pedih itu.

"Can we really go home, Alan?" Liam was clearly worried.

"I can't answer that, Liam," Alan replied without taking his eyes off the cloud of the afternoon.

Both are immersed in their own thoughts. Shut up and just look at the sky while daydreaming.

Krieett...

The door of the room opened. The daughter of the healer came out carrying the tray. There was a dark red water container a pile of dirty cloth stacked beside the container. He passed away.

Then the doctor came out. He also carried another tray of dirty utensils and cloths full of bloodstains. He also stepped away.

Liam couldn't help but come in.

"How's Laras docks?" liam asked impatiently.

"The operation is done. Hope nothing happens that we don't want to."

"You get out first. The daughter of the healer will soon change the clothes of Laras. After that he can rest" explained Dr Chandra.

"Good doc. I'm waiting outside."

Liam came back out, though his heart was still anxious.

'What did Dr Chandra mean? Is it possible that something bad will happen to Laras?' liam thought in a rage.
