This morning after breakfast, Robert and the rest of the team were preparing to resume their journey. They moved slowly, as they only walked for half a day and stopped to make shelter that night. In 2 days they moved together in the absence of an expedition team due to the immense fear of wolf attacks like the last time it happened.
Robert led the way in front, choosing a path down the mountain that was not steep and could be passed by everyone without the need for special tools.
By noon, Chandra's doctor, who was walking not far behind him, called.
"Roberts.. Robert.. Hold still. Stop..!" his yell.
"What's the doc?" Robert finally stopped and waited while watching the rest of the team still stumbling in the distance.
"That, you see above those trees?" doctor Chandra adjusted her breath as⁵ pointed towards the top of the tree in front there.
Robert followed the direction that Dr. Chandra meant. He was immediately shocked.
"It looked like a wall of greenish-blue light that I was looking at." Robert was very happy, because the light did not look too high anymore. It was likely that the boundary of the light curtain was not far away anymore.
"So right, that light is the same as what you saw back then?" doctor Chandra made sure.
"Yes." Yeah." Robert nodded for sure.
"If we follow the film theory called Leon, then the limit of the curtain of light should not be far away." Robert reminded doctor Chandra.
"Yes, I remember that. Hopefully the curtain of light is like the story in the film, so we just need to find a doorway to get out of this snow forest" added Dr. Chandra.
"Why did you stop?" ask Marianne. He looked exhausted and immediately sat down in a thick pile of snow.
"Do we want to make a shelter here?" Silvia stopped.
"No. Doctor Chandra showed it to me" pointed Robert at the curtain of light that appeared above the trees.
Marianne and Silvia looked in that direction but saw nothing.
"Whatis that? Tree hump? Are there birds in the trees?" ask Marianne astonished.
Doctor Chandra and Robert looked at each other.
"You didn't see it?" ask Dr. Chandra not to believe it.
"What to see? A tree? A bird? Or what?" silvia asked as she continued to search for what Robert meant.
"What's wrong?" The barrel joins and the follow stops.
"That, above the trees was a curtain of bluish-green light as I had seen before in the sky, above the wreckage of the plane." replied Robert.
The five colleagues looked up at the top of the trees in front of them, paying close attention.
"Aahh, I saw it..!" exclaim Baras while jumping up and down in excitement.
"really?" Marianne and Silvia asked in unison and looked back at the trees.
Following Angel, Niken, Gilang and Michael join forces and take notice of the trees after Laras explains.
Indra and his group who were walking behind to guard the entourage finally joined in as well. They immediately found a curtain of light that was the center of attention of the entire team.
"Robert, we should soon reach the limit of that curtain. Wouldn't we better hurry?" indra's Suan.
"Yes, I just want to make sure you can see it. So let's move on in that direction" replied Robert.
"Come on.. The sooner you reach it, the better."
All the teams agreed and continued their footsteps. Robert muttered Indra and whispered:
"I've felt like someone's been watching us. So increase the alertness of the back."
"Well," Indra nodded and conveyed what Robert said to Toni, Leon and Liam who became the rear guard group of the team. They stepped on alert.
An hour later, there was snow on an empty plain with no trees. They stared at the bluish-green curtain exactly as high as the eye view, there at the end of it about 100 meters away. It gave them spirit, the boundary was near. The team walked quickly across the open space filled with a thick stretch of snow.
Aouuu..
The howls of the wolves sounded unpretentious shortly after they walked in the open. Robert stopped and watched the surroundings vigilantly. The other team members immediately approached and joined the group after hearing the howls of the wolves getting closer.
The entire team immediately accelerated a step towards the curtain of light that seemed to be limited in their sight. They were eager to run like Robert's instructions, but how could they run in the thick piles of snow? The distance of tens of meters felt very far in reach this time.
The closer, the more visible the light was to a wall of transparent light, there was nothing to be seen behind it other than a stretch of snow as well. But they had no choice in the other direction, because at the back, there was an army of wolves that began to chase.
Doctor Chandra who led the team shouted at Robert who was guarding the middle of the group:
"Robert, across the wall of light it's also a snowflake.."
"Just try to cross it, there's no other choice!" Robert cut off Chandra's unfinished speech.
Doctor Chandra and the others no longer care whether there is a snowflake or not. What they want most is to escape from the pursuit of the wolf pack. They continued to move quickly closer to the wall that was only 20 meters away.
In the back, Indra and Liam had already stopped and were preparing to dispel the wolf that was closest. They held the spear firmly ready to receive the lunge of the running wolf.
In the second row, Robert and Leon also prepared. The other team members up front should be given time to reach the curtain limit first before they can catch up.
"Yeahhh..! indra's cry sounded as it leaped welcoming a wolf that leaped towards him. His spear eyes were directed at the unprotected wolf's stomach. Indra rolled following the direction of the falling wolf whose stomach had been pierced by a spear. Liam walked backwards towards Indra while remaining vigilant. Not far from them Robert and Leon began to be on standby to welcome the next wolf.
"We've arrived!" toni shouted towards Indra, Liam, Leon and Robert.
Robert nodded in understanding.
"Indra, leave the wolf behind and get ready behind us" Robert said.
Indra unleashed his blood-filled spear from the belly of the wolf that was seen still trembling, which seemed to have not died. Together with Liam, they are again on standby as the second layer of Robert and Leon who will soon receive a wolf attack.
"Yeahhh..! robert shouted as he jumped up and thrust his knife and spear towards the big wolf that was trying to grab him. The wolf immediately twitched and fell on Robert with a torn wound on his stomach due to the stroke of Robert's knife.
"Oh no!"
"Leon!" there were cries of Indra and Liam who immediately chased towards Leon who was struggling with gray wolves in the snow.
Robert quickly removed his knife and spear from the wolf he had killed. Walked cautiously towards his three comrades. Robert was on guard if there was another attack when his two comrades were helping Leon.
Leon tried his hardest to hold the bite with his spear through the mouth of the gaping wolf. That made it impossible to attack, so he did need help. Indra immediately planted his spear and landed on the wolf's shoulder which made him immediately distract and growl furiously.
Liam also immediately thrust his spear while jumping. He managed to injure the back of the beast. It makes the beast let Leon go and fall with Liam.
"Hurry away! The others are near." Robert reminded the three of them.
Indra helped Leon stand up and approached the wolf who was trying to get up. Indra pointed his spear towards the chest and jumped quickly. Liam held his spear stick on his back so that the wolf could not avoid Indra's attack.
Crassh!
The gray wolf collapsed with its chest pierced by a spear. Indra pressed his spear back deeper by moving the weight of his body on his two hands that held the spear, piercing even deeper, making sure it died. A moment later, a groan was heard, and the wolf was silent. His body was full of blood from the 3 stab wounds he received.
There immediately came the howling of the wolves around the four of them. The wolf troop walked slowly with furious growls and red glowing eyes approaching Robert, Liam, Indra and Leon who were walking backwards while still maintaining vigilance.
The wolves stopped and gathered around the gray wolf lying around. They took turns sniffing the wolf's body. The red blood stained the white snow beneath his body.
Robert's three colleagues live about 10 meters away from the rest of the team.
"Try sticking a hand into the wall, Doc" Robert ordered.
Doctor Chandra nodded then extended his hand towards the greenish-blue light wall next to him. His hand went through the light, but he couldn't see it. Doctor Chandra immediately pulled back his hand.
"It's not transparent. So the snow cover that is visible is an illusion. We still can't figure out what's behind it" Chandra explained.
"There's no time for the doctor's hypothesis. Our path is just that, or prepare to fight against that army of wolves." Robert confirmed the circumstances they were facing.
"Let me go first" Toni offered. He directly stepped through the wall of light and disappeared there.
The women looked at each other. There is no other choice. So they soon caught up with Toni and disappeared behind a wall of light, followed by Michael and Gilang.
Robert's group has gathered with Chandra's doctor. They looked towards the pack of wolves that kept paying attention while making a simple howl, but did not move to attack anymore. They only surrounded the body of the gray wolf that Indra had killed. 'Is the gray wolf their leader?' thought Robert.
Indra walks through the wall of light, followed by Liam, Leon, Chandra and Robert.
