SURVIVORS

SURVIVORS
Chapters 223. Illness Curse

Kang and Robert are forced to spend the night at Dean's and friends' quarters. They plan to visit Laras and Liam tomorrow.

A lively dinner with a joking laugh. They had even forgotten about the Nastiti incident this afternoon.

"Good dinner" praised Robert.

"Well, we have to adapt to the circumstances. All done alone, assisted by simple tools made by Dean," said Marianne.

"You're great Dean. Especially the rooms from the logs," said Robert.

Dean just smiled.

"We should rest faster. Let's leave early tomorrow" Alan said.

"alright. Robert, Kang, let me show you your room." Dean escorted his two guests to a now-empty log room.

"This is your room tonight. That's there the bathroom. Rest," said Dean.

""thank you Dean. But if you guys take turns, Kang and I can help, too" Robert said.

"Since Cloudy's been around, we haven't been fully awake. More often sleep in the courtyard accompanied by Cloudy," Dean smiled

Ah, the gray leopard. Robert nodded in understanding.

"All right, thank you."

After breakfast, Dean and Sunil take Robert and Kang to the dead city. They'll visit Laras.

Robert has been impatient since last night. He could barely sleep all night and many times turned his back. Kang, who was disturbed, finally rubbed Robert's face once. And that made him sleepy for a while, then fall asleep right after.

The four stopped in an empty forest area without a tree growing there. Dean showed me the way down. And towards the entrance.

When Dean appeared at the entrance, it turned out that there was Yabie who was arranging stones to harden the road to the dead city center.

"Uncle Dean, who is that?" ask Yabie who saw Dean with someone.

"It's Robert. My friend from the future" Dean introduced Robert.

"Ah... Uncle Sunil is also here?" greet Yabie who saw Sunil appear. And, there was someone else with him.

"Yes, we would like to visit Laras. He hasn't seen Laras in a long time. Since they were separated because of the shipwreck," explained Sunil.

"So Leon and Silvia are left undiscovered." Robert was sad.

"Hopefully they're fine" Dean added.

"Let's go to Laras and Liam." Sunil walked first.

"Yabie, aren't you coming?" ask Dean.

"Let me finish this first" Yabie said.

"Oh yes, Uncle Liam is in the cowshed there," said Yabie.

"OK," Dean said.

Yabie watched the four pass by. He felt a little intimidated by the presence of his uncle's new friend. I don't know why he wanted to stay away.

'Who are they? Why do I feel intimidated? Are they evil-hearted?' thought Yabie was suspicious.

"A lot of empty land here. And the ground is dry" Robert commented.

"Yes, that's why it's called the city of the dead. Not only because there were no plants growing, but it has also cost many lives" Dean said.

"Ah, the creature you told me about last night? I understand" replied Robert.

"After meeting Yabie who turned out to be the son of the city chief. Also the fact that Laras, Liam and his helpers are stuck here. We decided to reorganize the city."

"Gotong royong got rid of all the ruins of weathered buildings. Cleaning up the scars and rebuilding some houses."

"Dean, Sunil, would you like to see Laras?"

Kenny's voice came from the garden on the side of the moat.

"Yes. What are you busy with?" ask Dean.

"Yabie brought carrot seeds and other vegetables. We intend to plant it in this new bed." Kenny showed me the vegetable beds he was working on.

"Where's Mattew?"

He's watering a rice field back there, "pointing Kenny in one direction.

"Continue work. We go first." Dean waved his hand as it passed.

"Has the moat surrounding this city been around for a long time?" ask Robert.

"No. We deliberately dug trenches, so that they could plant for their own needs. Even though there is no rain in the city. As long as there's a water-filled moat, isn't it no longer difficult to grow some plants?" said Dean.

"You're right Dean. Soon this city will be a vibrant and prosperous city" said Robert.

"Yeahh, as long as they want to work hard, then there will be no shortage of food for life." Sunil added.

Mereka sudah masuk bagian pemukiman. Robert mengangguk-angguk.

"Good wooden house."

"It was the home of the children who ran away with Laras and Liam" Sunil said.

"If they're old enough, they can build their own house on this block and this!" Dean explained on the way.

"Then what is this block?" ask Robert.

"The plan, the location was for where they studied, met, discussed and so on. But there's no building there yet" Dean explained.

"Good plan Dean." Robert agreed with a thumbs up.

"Well, Laras and Liam live here."

Sunil entered the courtyard of the tiny house.

"Level two," murmured Robert.

"Yes, on top of that is Liam's residence," Dean said.

"After all, there must be someone ready to help and keep Laras in this situation," Dean added.

Robert understood. He will also make a similar decision if faced with this situation. Dean has made a good arrangement for his friends who are stranded on this island. Robert is grateful for that.

Tok tok...

No answer, quiet. Dean was anxious, recalling the previous incident where Laras endured the pain in the room.

"Maybe he's in the backyard. Let me see from the side" said Sunil.

They were waiting on the front porch.

"He's not in the back. The kitchen door is also closed." Sunil explained.

"I'll look at the cowshed. Liam might have taken her there." Dean flew in without waiting for another answer.

Sunil, Robert and Kang finally wait again on the porch of the house.

Dean came back soon. He walked with Liam. Above, there was a wheel chair floating along with a sweet seated Baras. Laras was getting used to flying. He's not nervous or scared anymore.

"That's them" said Sunil.

"Clearned!"

Robert approached Laras and hugged him as soon as the wheelchair came down to the ground.

"Ugh.. Haha.. I'm fine, Robert." The awkward laughing barrel was treated so.

"Ahh, yes.thank God. I'm glad we could see each other again" said Robert.

"Liam, I never thought I'd see you again." Robert hugged Liam.

"I'm glad you're safe. I shouldn't have checked too far until we were apart" Robert said regretfully.

"Forget it. All of this is destiny. What matters is that we meet again. Aren't you?" Liam smiled happily.

"Let's go in. The barrel made good food" Liam said.

"Well.well, I like good food," said Sunil quickly.

Everyone laughed when they heard it. They went in and sat on the wooden floor because there were not enough benches there. Liam serves homemade apple pie barrel and fresh yogurt.

They chatted happily. Share the story of Liam and Laras experience until they can arrive in the city of the dead.

"Liam, you have to raise chickens and rabbits too. So you can have eggs to make cookies. And rabbits, faster breed. So you don't lack meat here anymore" suggested Sunil.

"I think you're right. I'll tell Yabie to bring him here." Liam nodded in agreement.

"Ehemm, sorry Laras. My request may be presumptuous. But, can you show me the pain in your back? Let Kang see it for a second. Maybe Kang can help?" said Robert.

The room was silent for a moment.

"really? Kang can help? Does he know the science of medicine?" asked Liam enthusiastically.

"Do you know the science of Kang's medicine?" ask Sunil.

Kang shook his head.

"He doesn't know much, except what he used to face. But a few days ago, Kang had a very severe condition. I thought he could die at that time. He had burns all over his body. And it freaked me out. But Kang has a drug that can quickly recover his condition as before" said Robert.

They all looked at each other in amazement.

"I don't think there's any harm in trying. Instead of just accepting the situation," Dean said.

"How's Laras? Let Kang check on ya.." persuaded Liam.

The barrel looked right in Liam's eyes, which was sincere. He finally smiled and nodded. I cannot deny everyone's hope.

"All right.... Liam, help me get to the room" said Laras.

Liam pushed the wheelchair into the room. Robert invites Kang to follow both. He saw Liam lift Baras to the bed. His heart throbbed pain. Liam came out again.

"Come Kang. Please check." Liam invites Kang to come in.

Robert felt hesitant to enter because he was not welcome. Besides, Liam didn't come in.

"Robert, sit here. From here we can hear if later Laras calls," asked Liam who saw Robert pacing back and forth at the door.

Liam opened the kitchen door and the dining room window. Fresh air flowed into the room. From the front of the window, their small garden appeared to bring out the buds of life.

"Liam..," came the voice of Laras calling.

"Yes...." Liam got up from his seat and stepped into the door of the room. Kang is out.

"You want to go out again?" ask Liam.

"I want to rest" refused Laras.

"Shall I call Yabie?" ask Liam to worry.

"No. I'm just sleepy. I woke up so early to make you an apple pie. Did you forget?" laras smiled.

"All right, you can rest." Liam relented.

*

"How's Kang? Do you know what pain she is?"

"Can you help Laras?"

Everyone is asking.

Kang nodded doubtfully. He put his finger on Robert's forehead. Robert surprised.

"What did you say?" liam asked impatiently.

"She was worried it was like the curse pain her grandfather had suffered. He had to reread his grandfather's notes to make sure" Robert said.

"Had grandfather? Is his grandfather cured of the disease?" asked Dean curiously.

"If from Kang's previous story, it should be cured. Because his grandfather could live a long time even had time to see Kang born."

Robert spoke to himself. The others are impatient.

"Kang, is your grandfather cured of his illness?" ask Dean.

Kang nodded.

Everyone's faces brightened instantly.

"This is a new hope. Hopefully Kang can find Laras' disease in his grandfather's notes" Liam said expectantly.

"May...."
