SURVIVORS

SURVIVORS
204 Chapter. Barrel Disease

During those 1 week, Dean and his team completed the construction of their home in the forest, then in the afternoon helped the group of children in the dead city.

The city of death is beginning to change. The once dull scenery was pitiful, gradually colored.

The first thing they did was to cut down all the tree trunks closest to the light dome. All the trees were piled up in the middle of the city.

Dean, assisted by Alan and Sunil, dug a large trench around the city walls. The land is piled up in an empty area. The water from Yabie's old house flowed out filling the entire moat. And it takes time to get it wet enough and it can soften the soil.

After the house in the forest was completed it was built entirely. The men there focus on helping to print bricks. It will be used to build a new city wall. The trench soil began to soften because Mattew and Kenny diligently watering.

Then all the dry stones were arranged and burned all day. Next they began to draw up a stone wall just at the edge of the light dome. That's a big job. It also took 2 weeks to complete the whole thing. While Dean, Alan, Sunil and Yabie built the wall, Michael, Indra, Liam and Mattew continued to print and dry the bricks.

"Ah.. finally finished too. The city is safe now" Alan said.

They look at the hard work with satisfaction.

"Yes, but I still have to make a gate where we go in and out" Dean said.

"You're right." Sunil agrees.

"Then what's next?" ask Liam.

"Next is to clean the logs. We need wood and planks to build a house" replied Dean.

"Urusan cut the wood, we leave it to you, uncle," said Yabie chuckling.

"Wouldn't it be so hard if Dean did it alone?" Liam is not.

"No."

Alan shook his hand.

"It will be faster if the business is handled by itself. We can do other things" Alan argued.

"really? Then what should we do?" ask Liam to know.

"Printing tile! Doesn't the house need a tile?" tymphal Sunil's.

"Then let's race. Whose job is faster. Dean, or us?" challenge Liam in excitement.

Alan and Sunil looked at each other at the idea. But then they get excited..

^^^●{readers still on remind if O and Z like to compete with each other? 😅}^^

"good. We challenged you Dean. Do you dare?" alan asked with a sly look.

"Heh... What are you planning on Z?" Dean pinched Alan's forehead.

"Oohh...." Alan grunted while rubbing his forehead.

"You just don't dare, '" taunted Alan.

"Huh. I don't want to get caught up in your cunning plan. So just finish each task. The sooner it's done, the better." Dean grunts.

"Let's get back to work. It's not afternoon." Dean stepped towards the mountain of tree trunks in the middle of the city. He began to separate the twigs and branches from the main trunk.

As the afternoon came down, all the work was done. All the trees are gone. And all the branches and twigs had also been moved under the tree on the edge of the new wall.

"You're done cleaning everything?" Liam doesn't believe it.

"Yet. We continue tomorrow again" replied Dean.

"I'm back first." Dean darted away.

"Ah, he's fast. Look at our work. Wouldn't you lose if uncle accepted your challenge?" Yabie smiled mockingly.

"That's it. Let's go home," asked Alan lethargic.

Liam shook his head to see the sometimes childish behavior of his friends.a He also returned to the old house of Yabie. Lives with Mattew, Kenny and the kids.

It has been almost a month that Laras was treated at the healer's residence. The surgery wound has healed. The swelling no longer exists. But the black mark on his back won't go away. That's a big question for the healer and doctor Chandra.

Of particular concern is that Baras is always in pain if he stands or walks too long. His back always hurts. He would lie down more often and walk a little in the room.

"I have to say this to Yabie or Yoshi. I'll go to the city lord's residence tomorrow morning" doctor Chandra told the healer.

"I agree. I think the pain from the fall is healed. But the black color on his back was afraid it was unusual. Better talk to the city chief." The old doctor agreed.

"Hopefully it's not something that's dangerous and could take his life" Chandra's doctor said.

Morning time.

The men in the house in the middle of the forest started their usual activities. Fill the water in 2 bathrooms to the full. Sweeping the yard, watering the garden and dropping off Widuri, Nastiti and Niken wash clothes under the beach cliffs.

Finished all that, they hurtled into the dead city. Help Yabie rearrange her small town. In order to be occupied immediately by new residents.

On the afternoon break.

"Yabie, do you know this forest well?" ask Dean.

"Hemm, yeah." Yabie.

Everyone was interested in hearing Yabie's story.

"You've checked the whole forest end to end?" ask Dean again.

Yabie nodded back. Dean's eyebrows shot up.

"Do you know that in the middle of this forest we can't send a transmission message?" ask Dean again.

"don't know. There's nothing I should send a message to, "he replied innocently.

"Did you see anything strange in the woods?" Dean changed the question.

"Hemm, yes uncle. This forest is strange. The wild animals were terrified and were hiding everywhere. Including here. But I'm not afraid" said Yabie proudly.

"Do you know what they're afraid of?" ask Sunil.

"Not knowing." Yabie.

"What do you mean wild animals hide everywhere?" ask Indra astonished.

"Well, they like to enter somewhere invisible. Then you can't go out anymore" replied Yabie solemnly.

The others looked at each other. Is that what they thought?

"Your father said many of the town's inhabitants were lost while hunting into the forest. Do you know why?" Dean fished what Yabie knew.

"Uncle, as I said. In this forest even you can get lost and enter the wrong place. Just like those animals. Get into a place where there is no way out" said Yabie seriously.

"really?" sahut Dean mangosteen.

If this is what he thinks. Then why would forest animals prefer to go there rather than survive in the forest? It's not solved yet.

"If uncle wants to inspect this forest, it must be with me. Never go alone, yeah." Yabie.

Dean nodded with a smile.

"alright. If I want to check, I'll take you, my niece." Dean hugged Yabie's warm shoulder.

"Hey, let's go to work again. Don't keep talking" Alan said.

They continued their work that day until evening. Dean's work is done entirely. Large wooden beams for house poles, boards for walls and roof support wood have been neatly arranged.

"Tomorrow we will begin to tear down the walls of that fragile city. Do not collapse and damage the newly built house" Dean said.

"That's great uncle. Let's do that tomorrow." Yabie gave her thumbs up praising Dean.

"Mattew, Kenny, we go home first yes," Alan said farewell.

"okay." Kenny waved his hand.

One more day went well. But not for Yabie. By the time he got home, Dr Chandra was already waiting in front of his residence anxiously.

When he saw her through the gate, Dr. Chandra immediately approached.

"Why did you just come back?" his nag.

"I'm cleaning up the dead city. I'm at work. What's up?" ask Yabie.

"Come in. Did Brother Yoshi and father not let you in?" ask Yabie wonder.

"No. I have been bothering them ever since. So I decided to wait in front of your residence" explained Dr. Chandra.

"alright. You sit down for a minute, I'm gonna take a shower." Yabie asked the waiter to prepare food and drinks.

"Oh, yeah. Alright."

Doctor Chandra can see how dirty Yabie is. So he had to hold back and give her time.

A few moments later

"We talk while we eat. I'm so hungry. Please doctor."

Yabie invites Chandra's doctor to eat.

While eating they talked about what Laras experienced. Yabie nodded and continued to nod whenever Dr. Chandra told her.

'This boy kept nodding. Does he understand or not what I say?' pikin doctor Chandra is desperate.

"Tomorrow I'd like to see a black mark on his back before being able to answer your question" Yabie said.

"Is that dangerous?" Dr. Chandra couldn't hide his anxiety.

"If it's a black mark I know, then it's a danger. But if not, then I can't answer it" Yabie emphasized her tone.

"What-how much is a ba-haya?" ask doctor Chandra nervously.

"Slow and very painful death." - Yabie almost inaudible.

"What???"

Doctor Chandra sat up straight in his chair. His eyes looked at Yabie seriously, seeking honesty from her attitude.

"How do you know?" doctor Chandra can't believe it.

"My mother. He took the creature's black punch to save me. But you obviously know my mom is different from Laras. Mother could still survive up to 100 years before her silent death." Yabie looked down sad.

"But despite dying, the mother fought the creature to the end. A month after winning the fight and exterminating the creature forever, I can't fight my destiny." Yabie continued the story.

"That box is the thing left behind from that beast. I can't open it by force. The box will give you a fight. That's why mom asked me to bury the black box with her" Yabie explained.

"So that no one will be harmed by it." Doctor Chandra recalls Yabie's words.

Yabie.

"But unfortunately, before it was buried, Laras was already in the first place." Doctor Chandra looked down sad.

"I can regularly help Baras to hold his pain. That's all I can do. That's what I did to my mom, too. Only able to reduce his pain." Yabie's tears flowed.

"Did your father and brother know about this?" ask Dr. Chandra carefully.

Yabie.

"The doctor will stay here tonight. Tomorrow I'll take you to the doctor's place and check the sign" said Yabie.

Doctor Chandra nodded lethargicly. "Hemm, okay."
