SURVIVORS
Chapters 32. Chasm

While walking Indra said all the information from Dean. Robert and Dr. Chandra were very enthusiastic. They soon reached the mouth of the hole. Dean was still seen sitting while reading right under the light.

"Deans. Do you remember my voice? Robert shouted excitedly after crouching down.

"That has such an ugly voice is just one person on the team, how could it forget. How are you Robert? Are your wounds healed?" Dean replied with a smile.

"Haha. yes. The wound is healed. There's no problem." Robert chuckled called an ugly voice.

"Hi Dean, is it okay downstairs?" this time it was Dr. Chandra who spoke up.

"Very good doc, until it feels bored because you can only read it since morning. It seemed like this place was suitable for people who wanted to take a day off and rest without doing anything else," Dean's smile was still plastered.

"Don't keep smiling like that, I'll fall in love with you" Indra said.

"Buhuhuh.." They laughed at the joke.

"Are you deliberately going down there because you fell in love with Widuri?" Robert threw rumors recklessly, greeted by boisterous laughter of his three colleagues.

"How Widuri? Have you started falling in love with Dean? Hasn't it been 2 days you've only seen Dean smile?" Robert teased back and the laughter exploded again.

"Widuri's not here, so there's no need to hear the gossip you're making," Dean hit back at Robert with a big, triumphant smile.

"Where is he?" ask doctor Chandra. He began to sit on the scattered pine leaves as Indra rekindled the fire to reduce the cold.

"He wanted to see the cave where the purple crystal was taken." Dean explained.

"Can it really shine? Does the crystal contain a posthor so that it can glow in the dark?" Robert astonished.

"I don't know exactly either. But isn't the posport going to light up in the dark after exposure to the sun? There is no sun here." Dean couldn't guess what kind of crystal it was to light up in the dark.

"Hmmm, that's right, too" Robert murmured while nodding his head.

"But it's good, however, if you find the crystal, so there's lighting down the cave passage" he added.

"So you need a rope first to check the mouth of the cave that glows white?" doctor Chandra made sure.

"Yes. I need a rope to hold on to when I get down or up. The cave room was not very high, but it was filled with large and rather steep stones, it was difficult to be able to climb without tools." Dean again emphasized his explanation.

"Yes Dean, I asked Marianne and Silvia to make a rope for it. But to get down this hole, we have to look for other alternatives" Indra said.

"Thank you In." Dean added, "sorry it's been so hard on you guys."

"Who's coming Dean?" Widuri's voice accompanied her footsteps coming out of the cave passage.

"That's Robert, Chandra and Indra's doctors," Dean pointed up.

"Hai Widuri, how's your exploration going today?" doctor Chandra greeted Widuri when she heard her voice.

"Ah doc, I managed to get some purple crystals earlier." Widuri walked down the cave pit and took the crystals out of the bag and showed them to her friends above.

"This crystal will only light up if it is in a dark place" Widuri explained.

"If you could see the mine, you would be amazed. A room full of crystals with purple light shimmered from the floor to the ceiling. It's beautiful."

Widuri spoke with a voice and a face that was still stunned. Her eyes were closed in imagining while her lips were reviewing a sweet smile.

Dean was fascinated to see that figure that looked like a fairy under the bright sunlight that drifted in from the hole above Widuri's head.

"Well, for a while, we have to keep that curiosity" said Robert.

"Then what about Dean's notebook?" questions were directed at Dean.

"Ah, yes. From their trip, only 7 people survived. Eugene, their wife and two servants. Then two old couples and a servant. While the crew of the sailboat was not found. But it is written here that the wife of the old couple was injured and killed after 5 days they were here. When they reached this place, the old man caught up with his wife after sustaining injuries from a wolf attack." Dean paused for a moment.

"They stayed long enough in the woods because Cerise was weak due to her pregnancy. The orchard of yams, carrots and onions are also those who plant, from the rest of the supplies carried by the sailing ship. But they often moved to avoid wolf attacks. Until finally arrived here also accidentally like Widuri. Cerise fell and her pregnancy was bleeding. But the first to be revealed was his female servant, to help him overcome the problem. While Eugene and the two remaining servants were trying to gather groceries and deliver them into the hole. Well, it's exactly how we are right now," Dean laughed heartily.

Above, his three friends quietly listened.

"Then what about the fallen Cerise?" waturi's eyes looked dim. Dean sighed seeing it that way. It propagated the discomfort in his heart when Widuri's eyes seemed to lose light.

"Cerise miscarried after a fall at this height. Having only been taken care of by the maid, her health continued to deteriorate. While on top, her husband decides to return to where they were first stranded to retrieve a rope from a sailing ship in order to lift Cerise. Together with the old man's servant, Eugene leaves Cerise, guarded only by her servant, who continues to send firewood and other supplies." Dean bowed his head, Widuri speechless helplessly imagining Cerise's agony Her eyes felt moist dewy.

"Do you want to continue?" Dean asked as he realized the silence in that place.

"Ah, yes of course. Continue your story." Widuri immediately regained her senses, replied in a choked voice then nodded.

"Stop sprinkling Dean's onions, tell me the point. Did they find a way out of the cave? What about that luminous door?" Robert interrupted.

Dean smiled at Robert's words which immediately made Widuri look up to want to argue, but it did not.

"Okay, I'll continue. On the way back with the rope, the servant who was with him fell victim to the wolf to protect him. When he arrived here, the other servants who were guarding also became victims. Eugene is alone and has no choice but to go down with Cerise. He tied the trunk of a dead tree with a rope and lowered it down and tied the other end of the rope to another tree trunk that grew not far from here. Other ropes he brought down included supplies collected along the way and water supplies by piling snow into the hole. Then he came down holding on to the tree hanging in the mouth of the hole. Almost the same as when I went down a few days ago. It's just that the trunk of the tree was held." Dean smiled broadly.

"Yes, we can do it that way too. Tying the tree trunk with a rope to another tree as a restraint." Indra exclaimed with pleasure. Robert nodded his head in agreement.

"Then what about the exit?" doctor Chandra is impatient.

"Eugene wrote, he examined the entire cave passage. Find an empty room and put his wife there. Found a crystal mine and used it as lighting. Also found a cave with a luminous door and a clean water source below, but could not see outwards through the white light. After about a week, as his wife was already very weak and their supplies were almost depleted he asked his female servant to check out from the door of light, carrying a piece of his wife's gold pendant to buy groceries if he finds a village. But the waiter never came back after passing that door." Dean paused the story for a moment..

"Eugene simply wrote:

"I felt like my hand holding his hand was pulled downwards as he walked through that door. Is the door of this cave directly facing the ravine so that it is closed so that no one tries to cross? But I didn't hear her screams even though her grip was getting stronger. I tried to pull it back, but I couldn't. He's out of my hand. I didn't say this to Cerise because I knew both of their affection. She's been serving Cerise since she was a child. I was sad to remember, I was guilty of it. I asked him to come out of the cave and fall into the abyss." Dean read it word for word that was written in the book.

The four people who heard Dean's words instantly fell silent. 'cheating?' thought they were upset.
