SURVIVORS

SURVIVORS
Chapters 211. Island and Mysterious World

That morning with Yabie, Dean returned to the forest that had been marked last night. They inspected the entire area, starting from the 3 trees that had been cut down.

Dean asks Yabie to stay near the tree. While Dean wants to ascertain the area. Dean flew away and estimated the distance by comparing the area of the rock mountain area.

When Yabie even looks shrinking, Dean tries to touch a single tree in sight. It's still untouched.

Dean added distance and tried a few more times. In the sixth experiment Dean could touch the treetops. The tree was cut down as a marker.

Dean continued to experiment on other trees within a certain distance. He's already made some marks.

Yabie followed Dean. Dian tried to touch the treetops she saw, but was untouched. His hands seemed to be blocked by something. Yabie finally decided to check from the bottom. Right next to the tree that has been marked.

He touched the barrier with his left hand, and his right hand broke the tree branch next to him as a marker. He had made some marks, when suddenly his hand that touched the barrier, felt touched by the person from the inside of the barrier.

Spontaneous Yabie pulled her hand quickly. He was very surprised to get that response.

'What was that beast?' thought.

After breaking the twig as a location marker, Yabie flew after Dean.

"Uncle..uncle!" repeatedly shouted.

"What's wrong?" asked Dean from a distance.

Yabie flies up to Dean and tells him what happened. No doubt Dean was surprised.

"Let's go look over there" Dean asked.

Yabie nodded and led the way. Dean followed from behind. They stopped and floated near the marker tree. Dean tried to look behind the barrier. But he could see nothing but tall trees.

'Is it really a dense forest?' thought.

"Uncle, we better not check it. I think maybe there's a beast in there, "prevent Yabie while holding Dean's hand.

"We need to make sure first. Anyway we just checked the area. Don't want to get into an obscure place" Dean argued.

"alright. But careful. I don't want uncle stuck in a world where there's no way back." With a heavy heart, Yabie let go of her grip.

"All right," Dean said with a smile.

Both then drifted down. Yabie showed me where she was last time.

"Here uncle." Yabie pointed to the mark on the last branch he had broken.

Dean observed, trying to see what was behind it. He thought there was no harm in speculating. I don't know if the one inside is a beast or not. He had to try something to find out the truth.

Dean touched the transparent barrier wall in front of him. Then scratching the finger writing the letters to form words..

Dean and Yabie waited for a response from the other side for quite a while. But neither did they get any answers or signs.

"Maybe it was just that it wasn't accidentally touched by a wild animal?" ask Yabie.

"Yes, maybe. But at least now we know there's a living thing in there" Dean said.

"Yes, maybe some of the wild animals in this forest run in here, too" Yabie guessed.

"Oh yeah, about that. How many places can wild animals go without coming back?" asked Dean curiously.

There are 4 or 5 places I've seen them disappear. I'll show uncle those places later" promised Yabie.

'4 or 5 places? Plus this place, so there's 6. They have not checked the entire island. What is this phenomenon?' inner Dean astonished.

"Let's continue marking this area" Dean asked.

They re-touched the barrier and marked the tree. This time Dean cut down also some trees that Yabie missed.

Until midday, they had marked the circumference of the alien world. That's a pretty big area. Much larger than a dead city. But smaller than a small world on a rock mountain.

"Truly an island and a mysterious world' Inner Dean.

"Uncle, are we going to check the place out now?" ask Yabie.

"alright. Let's get down. We have to find a gap to get in and out" Dean said.

They both came down near the tree they had marked. Check for gaps in the barrier by using tree branches. It was to avoid being struck by a savage beast from the inside.

Within an hour, the two arrived at the place where Dean had written the words. Dean touched the barrier with a twig. The twig couldn't destroy it and there was no response either. So they missed it.

Both continued the next trial. Up to an hour later, the twig Dean was holding broke through the barrier.

"This is the entrance!" yabie is happy.

They're stopping. Dean touched and extended his hand carefully inwards. And it does penetrate it. Dean pulled his hand quickly.

Dean tried to remember what his hand felt when inside. He can't describe it.

'Just like it feels damp, or wet? It's chilly? Fog or rain?' thought.

"Sign it first. Don't come in until we find another door to get out" Dean broke up.

So Dean and Yabie piled up some dry wood to cover the gap. Dean also made an arrow carving -> on a nearby tree trunk.

"It seems like enough. Let's continue checking the rest again," said Dean excitedly.

Yabie was excited too. Her lips widened to reveal a smile. At least they found one entrance. It's a success. It has not been in vain to make an examination so far.

This time, after 2 more hours, they finally re-discovered another gap. Yabie and Dean stop and try to check.

Yabie tried to put her hand into the crack. Then pulled over immediately, worried about being grabbed by a wild beast.

"What do you feel?" ask Dean to know.

"not clear. Like there's a gust of cold, wet air. Maybe dew or after the rain?" yabie said remembering.

"Yes, I feel the same way." Dean confirmed Yabie's estimate.

"But rain.... This world is so lucky. In the city of the dead there has never been rain since I was born." Yabie.

"But areas of wheat fields, grasslands and maple forests still experience rain, right?" ask Dean to know.

"Yes. If it wasn't for that place, my mother and I couldn't have survived" Yabie said sadly.

Dean patted Yabie on the shoulder.

"Your mother has taken care of you with all her strength. Take care of the townspeople too. And sacrificed his life for them. He's the hero of this city, the hero of his family."

"Yes uncle. I will always remember that. Remembering my mother's affection for me." Yabie nodded her head.

"Okay, let's get on with the work here" Dean asked.

Dean and Yabie again marked the location by piling dry wood. Also carve marks on the trunk of a nearby tree.

They continued to examine other areas. Until they reach the place they first checked. They didn't find anything else.

The two sat at the root of the tree and took time to rest.

"There are 2 gaps here. Which one's the entrance? Where's the exit?" guman Yabie while thinking.

Dean hasn't decided yet. Maybe a test should be done if you want to know the truth. Entering that place recklessly would be self-harming.

"We'll think about it later. It's better to go back and discuss this with the others" Dean suggested.

"alright. I also want to rest," greeted Yabie with a beaming face.

They darted back home in the woods.
