SURVIVORS
Chaptre 42. What If We Stay Here? (revision)

Dean shook at the claps and voices calling his name. He seemed to drown in his dreams.

Widuri snatched the pot near the fireplace and threw away the water while running towards the pool. He took the water with the pot and took it carefully to where Dean was still moving in fear.

"What would.." Alan's speech hung in the air looking at Widuri's actions.

Byurr.. Widuri poured all the water in the pot into Dean's face. Everyone was surprised to see his approach. But that way seems to work. Dean wakes up with a wave to breathe air.

"Who doused me?!" shouted Dean furiously.

His teammates were surprised to see Dean's side like this. Dean looked different than before. Well, Dean's never really been angry.

"It worked," Widuri walked leisurely leaving Dean drenched.

"What dream did you have?" ask Alan.

"What dream?" Dean asked back in surprise.

"So you screamed in fear. Wakened cannot. Patting can't either." Sunil added.

"Oo so that's why I'm watered with water?" Dean still doesn't take it.

"We're worried about you Dean. Ignore the way, the important thing is that you are aware now," Goddess mediates the quarrel.

"Do you know what you mean? Did I faint?" asked Dean again, still in a high tone.

"Maybe it's not fainting, but you seem to be drawn into your dream world. That's why we tried the easiest way to wake people up to sleep." Nastiti tried to explain it more plausibly.

Dean heard it. 'Drawn to the dream world?' dean thought astonished. He tried to remember what dream he had just had, but Dean could not explain it.

"I guess, we'd better leave this cave tomorrow. Or get away from this forest." Widuri expressed her opinion.

"Reason?" ask Alan.

"Mungkiiinn.this may be hlo yaa.. Maybe this cave is inhabited by other creatures who may not be happy to see our presence," replied Widuri.

"Don't scare dong," Dewi chose to sit close to Widuri.

"I don't mean to scare you, but since our plane crashed, have we seen a lot of weird stuff? So I'm just trying to keep an open mind about everything and possibilities." Widuri laid himself back.

"Tomorrow we'll see what it's like out there. If we find a better place, we will move. What do you think?" Dean offered me a middle ground.

"I'll accompany you out tomorrow." Sunil offered himself.

"I think we better pair up, 1 team 2 people. Tomorrow I'm with Widuri checking the woods around. Alan and Nastiti search for food sources that can be found in the forest. While Sunil.dan Dewi continued to examine the cave that we came to this afternoon." Dean split his team's work group.

"Alright, according to your arrangement." said Dewi.

"Okay, it's time for a break. Let me keep watch." Dean ended the conversation in the middle of the night, giving his friends time to sleep.

After breakfast that morning, Dean and Widuri prepare to inspect the forest. Widuri followed Dean's steps up the rocks towards the cave door. He was transfixed to see a dense forest of fresh green before his eyes. Dean continued the track he had been on with Alan the day before. They're getting into the woods. The occasional sunlight barging in illuminated the sturdy branches.

"Dean, isn't that a mushroom?" point a Widuri at a group of white mushrooms growing on the trunk of a dead tree.

"Are you sure it's edible?" Dean asked back.

"Hmm, it looks like oyster mushrooms. Why don't we try to get some?" Widuri asked for advice.

"If you want to try it, take it, yes" Dean replied, looking around, flipping through the wet, half-rotten leaves that covered the surface of the ground with his spear.

Widuri collects the mushrooms she sees and stores them in foliage before putting them in a backpack. They went back further into the forest.

"Dean, what's that fruit?" Widuri pointed at the bushy fruit hanging on a tree not far from them.

"Bahh.. It's plum. Truly windfall. Let's gather up." take Dean who hastened to the densely-fruited plum tree. Dean examined the plums lying on the ground.

"This is too ripe, '" Dean grumbled as he looked up wondering if he could climb the tree.

"Dean, briefly. I don't think this place is a forest." Widuri grabbed Dean's hand as he prepared to climb the tree.

"You mean?" dean asked not to understand.

"Look.. doesn't this look like a plum orchard?" Widuri pointed towards the front.

Dean was stunned when he realized what he saw. It really is a plum orchard. The plum trees grow a certain distance. Dean checked further, he found not only plums, but also apples, pears and lemons. Widuri followed Dean enthusiastically. But he did not dare to pick up any fruit that fell on the ground.

"We'll just find it first." Dean had hoped that too, but he couldn't promise Widuri anything at the moment.

His second step slowed down after coming out of the orchard. In front of them was a thick expanse of shrubs and shrubs. They walk carefully.

"Oh." Widuri complained when the skin of her arm was stuck in a twig full of thorns. Dean helped him break away.

"You remember the berry tree in the snow forest? Look at this one there's fruit. It's a clump of blueberries." Dean plucked some of the fruits that were a blackish purple due to being overripe.

"Hmm, this is so sweet," Widuri had forgotten about her scratched arm. She enjoyed the sweet taste sensation while poking at the blueberries Dean had picked for her.

"Already, we check ahead there first, later when you can pick again." Dean chose the path of avoiding the clumps of blueberries.

They're crossing a place that Dean thinks is a vegetable garden. The garden was irregular, the clumps were tall and dense.

"This vegetable garden is completely ignored. Look, this cabbage plant is so tall and small. Cckk." Widuri clicked a deplorable tongue.

Dean looked at what Widuri meant, then shook his head.

"It's a small kind. It tastes better" Dean explained.

Ohh, really? There's something like that, right? I want to try it." Widuri looks interested.

Dean nodded as he continued walking around the vegetable garden. Suddenly he stopped.

Dugs.

"You always stop suddenly!" Widuri started nagging.

Dean looked down at something in front of him. Then look at the thing that caught his attention.

"What are you looking for while you're down?" Widuri wants to know.

"You're so chatty," Dean replied without looking at it. He continued to search while walking.

"I'm not a fuss. But want to know, let me help you find what you're looking for. But if you don't need help, then bodo is very." Reply Waturi ketus.

Dean sighed then stood up and turned to face Widuri.

"Okay, you're not a fuss, just a pinch. I saw wood like this there. I think it's the wood of the garden fence or the yard of the owner of this garden. So I want to make sure, "pointing Dean towards the remaining weathered log.

"Isn't it common for gardens to be fenced?" ask Widuri.

"really. I just want to make sure if it's a fence or not. If it's a fence, what do gardeners actually want to take shelter from? Plant-eating wild animals or carnivorous wild animals?" obviously Dean.

Widuri finally nodded in understanding. He watched the bush in front of him.

"Dean, let's try to get there. I want to confirm my guess." Widuri looked for a bush gap to be able to cross in the direction she was aiming. Dean followed from behind, wanting to know what they would find up ahead.

"Dean, don't you think this looks like. hmmm.." Widuri thought hard.

"Home?" guess Dean after noticing the pile of weathered wood in front of them.

"Maybe it's just a shack, a temporary residence of gardeners?" Widuri.

Dean nodded in understanding. Try lifting a block of wood that looks intact. The wood was destroyed in his hand. Dean and Widuri were surprised to see that.

"How many years does it take to make a block of wood this big turn into Dean's dust?" the light in Widuri's eyes looked dim.

Well, if it's been a dozen years the hut was left to collapse, meaning the owner of this place is dead, or never returned to see the garden again. The hope that Widuri had just grown back was shattered. Eyes teary.

"Don't despair. As long as we try and believe, then there will always be hope for a better life." Dean approached Widuri and clasped her hands gently, bringing warm and vigorous feelings for Widuri.

Widuri wiped away her falling tears while looking down. Sighs a few times to calm his heart that is stirring up despair.

"Thank you Dean," Widuri's eyes looked at Dean sincerely. Dean nodded and smiled then turned around.

"What do you think if we stay here?" dean asked as he continued walking towards the front while stretching out his arms.

Widuri heard the idea. 'Died? Does that mean Dean wants to stay here? Does he not want to find his way home anymore?' Widuri doesn't think out.
