The Essence Of The Darkness

The Essence Of The Darkness
EOTL eps 30: Revealed

Sera followed Elana up the stairs and headed towards the large door that was immediately welcomed as they entered the second floor passageway.

This floor is on the wing of a different building to where Sera is, in an opposite position and separated by a wide fenced cavity that displays a view of the lobby of the house on the first floor.

“See, Zac is up.”

Elana smiled softly as she entered the room and saw Zac in her nanny's sling. The child immediately recognized his mother when he saw her, his plump body directly thrashed from the embrace of his caregiver, extending a hand while leaning towards his mother, asking to be carried.

The adorable little baby's request was immediately warmly welcomed. Elana reached out her hand and effortlessly took the baby from her nanny's embrace. The woman then uttered some instructions gently to her babysitter, so the nanny seemed to nod her head respectfully and left Elana and Zac alone together with Sera.

Sera herself seemed fascinated observing Elana's interaction with Zac. Elana looked so lithe carrying and hugging her child, as if that was what she did every day.

Perhaps, the rumour that Akram Night's wife really devoted her time to taking care of her child with her own two hands, was not mere gossip. Because, judging from how Zac asks to be hugged by his mother and not resonate with his caregiver alone, it is enough to show who spends the most time to take care of the healthy plump baby.

Sera's watchful eyes went straight towards Zac, and her lips inevitably revealed a smile full of irony when she came to her conclusion: Akram Night is not just dominating in real life, the man still dominates in his genetic embodiment, so his son has an appearance that is arguably a small duplicate of his father.

Anyone who saw Zac at this time, would definitely not doubt that the child belonged to Akram Night.

“You may feel awkward suddenly having to accompany me here,” Elana swung the Zac who instantly let out a typical baby mumble from her lips out of pleasure. “But, one thing you need to know, Sera, whatever your relationship with Xavier is and whatever your reason for marrying her, I'm not here as your enemy, I exist as your friend.”

Sera frowned. “Are you...not at all curious why me and Xavier decided to get married suddenly?” tanyanya fast.

Elana shook her head. “Akram just told me that Xavier took the impulsive decision to marry you, because you two are tied to the past.” Elana looked at Sera with a sad look. “I'm really sorry to hear all the things that happened in the past, which made you finally bond and connect with each other like this in both a positive and a negative way. But I understood enough and chose not to interfere. I believe that you two have grown up and can take the best decision for both of you.”

Elana's smile looked motherly as she looked at Sera with a gentle look. “Only…. I want you to know, that even though Xavier always presents himself as a bad guy, he really isn't.”

Elana's last sentence made Sera frown and want to refute. Luckily he was able to hold himself up so precisely that he did not make a sound from his throat.

But, of course Elana could read his expression and see clearly the disapproval that smeared Sera's eyes. The woman sighed, then looked at Sera with a thoughtful look

“Basically, people always assume that there are only three types of bad guys in this world. One is the original bad guy who is black to the bone of his sunsum, two is a crazy person who does evil without realizing it, and the third is a good person who is misunderstood as a bad person. Meanwhile, Xavier is an anomaly. He's not one of those three. Xavier is a good guy, who may be a little crazy so he is often misunderstood as a bad guy.”

Elana shrugged her shoulders. “I won't force you to understand what I'm saying right now, because I think, you must get to know Xavier closely and delve into his heart to understand your future husband well and realize the true color of him waiting to be found. But, really I want to tell you, Xavier chose to marry you, that means you are a special woman to him. I won't go any further and interfere in your relationship because I know my position as an outsider you don't even know. But I beg of you, please put aside all the tangled entanglements of the past that entwine you both. Give this marriage a chance, because I'm sure if you two fight together, I think you'll find a way to be happy."

Elana's long advice roared in the air, while Sera's brain and logic were unable to digest it quickly.

Everything Elana said was the opposite of what happened to her.

Xavier is a good guy? Xavier thinks she's a special woman? If they fight together in this marriage, then will they be happy?

In fact, what kind of lie does Akram Night tell his wife, so Elana considers that her marriage to Xavier is based on romantic feelings to form the happiness of two hearts united?

Do you think Elana doesn't know that Xavier forced her into this marriage with the threat of a terrible poison being forced into her body, even by holding her father and Aaron, her rescue angel who meant so much to her?

Sera wanted to shout the truth to Elana, but when her eyes looked at Elana who was kissing her son's cheek, her soft heart could not bear to say it.

Perhaps in front of Sera, Xavier was playing a really good person, so Elana could have a positive judgment that was contrary to what Sera felt to Xavier. However, seeing Elana's happy smile and the glittering aura of happiness that surrounded her, Sera really did not want to ruin what wrapped the woman.

Sera does not want to damage Xavier's image in Elana's eyes and damage the peace wrap that protects the beautiful woman.

“Ah, looks like dinner time is almost here. How about we go down and pick up the guys so we can get together to the dining room for dinner?” Elana thought that they had given enough time for the men in the sitting room to talk and solve whatever they had to talk about. As the dinner hour was about to pass, and because Elana was feeding Zac exclusively, she began to feel hungry.

Sera nodded her head, glanced at the clock on the wall and agreed that this was even almost too late for them to have dinner.

Without a word, Sera then followed Elana who was holding Zac out of the room, down the stairs and stepped back towards the sitting room.

They had already reached the doorway, and Elana had already opened her mouth to greet, when then, there was the sound of Akram Night being so resolute, blaring in the air and being clearly translated by their sense of hearing.

“I don't think you'll dispute my conclusion either, will you?” Akram Night was heard asking in a thick cynical tone, before then the man concluded. “You married Serafina Moon just because you were after her descendants for your own sake.”

Xavier's eyes glanced at the chip Akram had placed on the table and his expression stiffened.

Just by looking at Akram's anger alone, Xavier was able to directly guess what data was inside the chip. Something he never said before.

Xavier tried to be relaxed. His eyes glanced at the door, ensuring that no one was there other than the bodyguards trained to care for his ears when his superior was having a private conversation.

He folded his arms and turned his back, leaned his shoulders against the back of the sofa, then turned his head towards Nathan.

"Surely, I never intended to hide this data. Because, I consider it as something unimportant. I didn't think at all that you would find a way to this data and uncover it all. How did you know that?" tanyanya was a little curious.

Nathan thinned his lips before replying, "Once you're registered as part of the Night Corporation, you automatically make an agreement to open up digital access to your data. That way, all of your data, including your health data, will be integrated into a sophisticated system owned by Night Corporation that can collect data about people in the company from any source, even the encrypted data. I found your medical documents sent from Switzerland while I was doing my check-up, accidentally."

Nathan squinted. "The document is only a small part of the whole content, I had to dig deeper using a wide variety of connections so that I could get all of the parts" he continued.

Xavier grinned, the man then leaned over and poured a brandy glass from the glittering glass bottle available on the table, into a crystal glass which he then sipped. There was no surprise at all when he heard that Doctor Nathan managed to access the data that he deliberately left to sink and not rise to the surface.

“So, you found the results of a bone marrow biopsy I did in Switzerland. That means you know the illness I'm suffering from, don't you?” Xavier raised his eyebrows, turning his eyes back to look towards Akram with a slightly defiant attitude. “If you already know, I don't think I need to explain anything anymore.”

Akram's expression instantly turned dark. The man clenched his hands advancing his body and looked at Xavier in an intimidating manner.

“You behave as if your illness is something trivial. But I learned from Nathan that your condition is very serious. Aplastic anemia is not the kind of disease you can talk about with a laugh, Xavier. It is said that two-thirds of its sufferers, died within just six months of being diagnosed with the disease.” Akram furrowed his brows, clearly not liking. “You seemed fine in the past. How can you suddenly suffer from this disease?” tanyanya.

Xavier grinned, though his eyes seemed to shine with irony.

“The accident was the trigger. When you arranged the car accident to eliminate me in the past, the explosion from the accident exposed me to dangerous chemicals that contained radiation and changed my genetic makeup to abnormal. Aplastic anemia, anemia is a lack of red blood cells and aplastic means empty, it means that my bone marrow is empty, does not contain enough red blood cells. My spinal cord, as a blood cell-producing plant, can no longer produce normal, healthy blood cells. I don't have any red blood cells to deliver oxygen, nor do I have platelets to prevent bleeding from occurring.”

Xavier smiled softly as he connected his words. “In hindsight, my first meeting with Lana happened in the toilet when I had a nosebleed and your wife offered me a handkerchief.”

Xavier's attitude seemed relaxed and full of nostalgia. The man even allowed his eyes to shine warm when he mentioned about Elana and his first unique encounter with the woman who was also unique. However, the attitude is not contagious, Akram's expression even more grim after hearing Xavier's explanation.

The man's eyes watched his foster brother closely, and after knowing the truth, Akram realized what his eyes had been ignoring and missing.

There should have been times when Xavier always looked pale, as if there was no blood flowing through his body.

“You disappeared for five years after the accident. My investigator says that you are recovering from the severe injuries of the accident. Was that time, you were actually recovering from radiation poisoning that made you have this aplastic anemia?” ask Akram later.

Xavier read Akram's facial expression, then the man placed the brandy glass from his hand onto the table and straightened his back. “Hey, I explained the cause of my illness, not to make you feel guilty and actually, you do not need to feel guilty. Some Aplastic anemia is caused by genetic inheritance. Who knows if I actually have suffered from this disease for a long time which was passed down by the genetics of my parents who do not know who, who, then the accident that blew up the dangerous chemicals in my car was just a little trigger to wake up my illness at full force?”

Xavier spoke in a serious tone. “However, the illness I suffered was my own dependency. I don't feel the need to hold anyone accountable nor do I need a scapegoat for my illness" he concluded.

Akram listened to every single word spoken by Xavier straightforwardly. Even so, he could not accept it completely.

Even though Xavier said he did not blame her and so on, the reality is that Akram contributed and was a little bit of the cause of Xavier's current illness.

In the past, they were enemies. When Xavier kills the people around Akram blindly, that is when Akram decides to get Xavier out of him. The planned car accident was actually just a small warning to keep Xavier away from him. But in practice, everything deviates from the plan. The car crash was too violent, followed by an unexpected explosion and a charred burning car driven by Xavier.

At that time, Akram monitors everything and learns that Xavier was rescued from the accident and sent abroad to save his life and heal himself.

His investigators were unable to get detailed results of Xavier's condition after the accident and said only that Xavier was undergoing intensive treatment in order to recover the severe injuries he suffered after the accident.

Akram himself, who at that time was more focused in his satisfaction of having gotten rid of Xavier, did not feel interested in probing further, and considered that Xavier's severe injuries were a type of physical injury, a kind of fracture or burn that usually occurs after a major accident. The next five years were spent forgetting Xavier, too grateful for the absence of the man he once considered his great enemy.

Until then Nathan gave a shocking report on Xavier's true condition....

“Do you have continuous blood transfusions?” Akram immediately found out about Aplastic Anemia in general from Nathan once he got the report, and he knows that this disease makes the sufferer experience a blood deficit so must receive a blood transfusion to replenish and maintain the supply of red blood cells in his body.

Xavier smiled faintly and shook his head slightly. “I only got a blood transfusion when my platelets were completely depleted so I had heavy bleeding. For the rest, I consumed a medicine made from my own chemical factory.” Xavier grinned. “For five years in that recovery period, I did not remain silent and stood still. With the help of some of my research staff, I was able to create a medicine to maintain my blood supply so as to encourage my bone marrow to produce blood cells for me. But, of course, the drug can not replace the prowess of normal bone marrow and can produce full. The drug just held my body, so I didn't have to have blood transfusions every day and keep me so I could stay fit and active like a normal healthy person. Of course, I still have to receive blood transfusions periodically, but the frequency is not as often as should be accepted by aplastic anemia sufferers usually. Unfortunately...”.

Xavier stopped his sentence and looked at Akram meaningfully. “Unfortunately, the drug has side effects.” he continued slowly.

“What are the side effects?” Akram frowned, grabbing quickly and curiously.

This time, a relaxed attitude was again shown by Xavier. The man again leaned his back against the sofa, crossed his legs while not forgetting to comment on his distinctive smile. “The medicine shortened my life. Each year of my life being fit because of the medicine, reduced my lifespan in equal amounts. Easy as this is, if I use the drug for a year, the effect will damage my body slowly, until I will die a year earlier than my actual death schedule.”

Xavier chuckled as if what he said was a laughable joke. “Actually, that's not important to me. I've even been grateful that more than six years have passed and I'm still alive here, many times over the six-month period set for the rest of my life. No one knows when humans will be scheduled to die. You could be fresh today and not be able to open your eyes tomorrow morning, right? So, actually, from the beginning, I used this medicine to enjoy my life while I could, pushing my body to stay fit so that I could finish everything that was still a burden on my life, before I let go of everything in peace and let death fetch me.”

“But you changed your mind.” Akram narrowed his eyes, staring at Xavier with a judging and probing look. “There was a point, I don't know what it was, where you decided that you didn't want to just die. So, you finally decided to marry Serafina Moon, to save yourself, didn't you? Nathan has investigated the woman, her mother has genetic twins, as well as her grandmother, although their twin brother does not live long. In fact, Serafina Moon also has a twin sister who died while in the womb. Nathan reported that you also had a medical examination of Serafina Moon secretly and confirmed that she had hyperovulation or multiple ovulation which determined definitively, that if Serafina Moon became pregnant later, she would have, I can be sure she'll be pregnant with twins. You also gave her the fertility drug to make that possibility a hundred percent.”

Akram glanced at Nathan for a moment when he mentioned everything related to the medical world to Xavier. He waits for a rebuttal from Nathan if there is any mistake he pronounces as a layman, but, Nathan seems he listens with a serious face, showing absolutely no intention of refuting or correcting the mistake.

Akram then looked at Xavier sharply back and continued his sentence, “Serafina Moon is the perfect candidate for you. You are a kara in this world, so the possibility to get a bone marrow donor from a sibling or from your parents and relatives can be said to be non-existent. However, you still have hope of taking cord blood stem cells from your own offspring as an alternative donor to be transplanted into your body. Blood on the umbilical cord contains stem cells which are of much better quality than if taken from an adult human. Given that cord blood cells are taken from the placenta of your own offspring, it will reduce the risk many times over and the chances of a match for you are almost one hundred percent. Nathan said that twins will rule out the lack of cells to meet your needs, and you've even developed a special drug to trigger cell development from the placenta that you'll get later, to guarantee the fulfillment of your needs for bone marrow transplantation.”

Akram tries to read Xavier's expression to assess what the analysis will do for the man, but unfortunately, Xavier is very good at covering up his feelings, even looking at Akram with his typical annoying smile.

“Wow,” said Xavier with a glare of praise. “I didn't expect you to have studied everything in such detail that I didn't have to explain anything else.”

“I won't ask what caused you to rise from submission to death and then be eager to fight for your life again.” Akram spoke in a cold tone, impatiently facing the fake relaxed attitude shown by Xavier. “I don't think you'll dispute my conclusions either, will you? You married Serafina Moon just because you were after her descendants for your own sake.”

The rustling sound at the door made Akram stop his sentence and directly raise his head towards the source of the sound.

Her lips thinned and immediately cursed herself when she discovered that Elana was in the doorway, holding Zac who seemed to be half asleep and comfortable in her mother's arms. Unfortunately, Serafina Moon seemed to be standing beside Elana, staring at all of them who were in this room with her big wide eyes.

Akram focused too much on Xavier so lost his vigilance and did not realize the footsteps of the two women who came back into this sitting room. It seemed like everyone in this room was also experiencing the same thing as him, too focused on their conversation that they did not realize anyone was coming closer to this room.

Xavier himself turned his head, following Akram's glued gaze and the smile on his lips dissipated as he stared at Sera's face glued to the doorway, being next to Elana who seemed to be standing with an all-inclusive expression.

Just by looking at the warning lightning that emerged from Elana's eyes and also staring at Sera's deathly pale face, it is certain that the two women had clearly heard every word Akram had spoken before.
