The Essence Of The Darkness

The Essence Of The Darkness
Episode 34: Watching You

"Relationships aren't complicated. I take care of you. You take care of me. The end of story."

Once out of the elevator that opened right on the emergency department's special floor for VVIP patients at the hospital, Nathan immediately pushed himself half-run through the hospital hallway . His expression was filled with anxiety and his mind focused on the emergency room door at the end of the hallway, until he ignored the greetings from colleagues and nurses who happened to cross paths with him.

He was on the road when he got the news that the car Akram was driving had an accident and the victim was rushed to the hospital owned by Akram himself which happened to be not far from the accident site. Nathan turns his car around and rushes to the hospital where Akram was rushed after the accident.

Nathan pushed open the closed door of the emergency room so quickly and almost hit it open. His eyes scanned frantically throughout the vast sterile room until he finally found the figure he was looking for.

Akram Night was sitting on a check bed, while a doctor and nurse were busy dealing with wounds on his arm and forehead. Nathan watches Akram from a distance, scanning the man's condition before stepping closer to check closer.

The doctor who handled Akram immediately saluted respectfully towards Nathan, and Nathan only waved a little with a friendly smile that became his trademark, as a gesture for the doctor to continue his work. Nathan's eyes remained fixed on Akram's entire self, then returned to performing an outside scan with his eyes.

Akram Night was bare-chested, wearing only trousers, while his dirty shirt and suit with blood stains and tears in some parts, was placed on one of the chairs near the check bed. The man had bruises on several sides, on his head, on his left rib area and also had some scratches on his face and both arms. The biggest wound was an incision that extended a few inches in his left arm and is now being stitched by doctors.

The rest, Akram looks fine.

Nathan pursed his lips while looking at Akram with a look full of irony.

"I think I've thrown away my anxiety for something in vain" he grumbled slowly.

Akram raised an eyebrow at Nathan's words.

"What exactly did you expect when you came here, Nathan? I'm the one lying dying on the bed?" whats ketus.

Nathan grinned, shrugging his shoulders in a reckless manner.

"Well, I thought there would be a chance for me to see you helpless from pain, then forced to submit to being under my power for a while. Unfortunately it was very difficult to make an Akram Night helpless," said Nathan in a relaxed tone that was only responded to with a grim expression Akram.

The stitching on Akram's arm was done, Nathan then gestured for his doctor and nurse to leave, he then stepped a little closer to Akram, his voice was low to make sure that no one but the two of them in this room could steal a listen.

"It's not an accident, is it? I know that you can't be so late as having an accident on the highway. Unless you drive drunk."

Akram squinted, as if offended. "I never drive drunk. The truck was really aiming to hit me, lucky in the last second I managed to slam the control of my car away, so even though the collision happened, the damage was not too fatal. The bodyguards also follow the protocol, just three cars behind, so the evacuation process can take place quickly and efficiently" he explained. Akram's expression then turned dark as he continued his sentence with something completely unrelated to his previous sentence. "Nathan, go behind you there and help me."

Nathan was stunned to hear Akram's last sentence, the man seemed agitated, anxious, and unsure, an emotion that Akram had never once seemed to have in him.

Akram also asked for his help clearly.it was something that had never happened before!

"What do you need from me?" Nathan observes that Akram's eyes are continuously directed behind his back, finally Nathan turns his head and frowns when he sees that in his trunk there is an operating room with a bright red light on top of his door.

At once Nathan turned back to Akram, his expression looking disbelief.

"They said you happened to be driving your own car and were not with the driver. So when the accident happened, you were with someone else?" Nathan tried to make sure.

If Akram is with the driver with his usual service car, the man does not mind taking others into the car, usually Akram's lovers who get this facility. But different from his personal car, Akram does not like if someone else gets into his personal car, even Nathan has never felt the car driven by Akram himself.

Then who has enough guts to be allowed to ride in Akram's private car?

Nathan didn't have to wonder for too long as his sharp mind was quick to find out for itself the answer. Nathan's expression turned shocked when he found the answer. "Elana?" guess exactly.

Akram really looked grim when the name Elana was called.

"I've been trying to hug and try to protect her with my body. But even my body and the advanced safety features of the car could not protect his fragile body. He was bruised all over the body, bleeding everywhere and his right hand was broken. That's what the doctor told me. There was no concussion or fatal internal injuries, Elana's heaviest injury was her broken right hand" Akram flicked his chin towards the operating room. "The best surgeon is handling it in the operating room. I'm not a person with a medical background so they won't let me in. But, you're a doctor, you can definitely go in there. So go in and see Elana, they've been in there a long time and they've not come out. I don't know what they're doing in there, and I can't judge whether they're doing their job or not."

Nathan noticed Akram's worries and held back his smile. Actually judging by Akram's attitude, the man could have forced his way into the operating room. But the fact that Akram didn't do it, suggests that Akram is really worried about Elana's condition and wants Elana to be handled well without any disturbing drama.

"I'll see it" Nathan finally decides to help. Although it feels good to see Akram in anxiety, he is still a doctor. For a doctor, saving lives and providing the best treatment is a top priority. "You rest first, it looks like you're fine from the outside, but no matter how strong the human body is, after such accidents and collisions, your body still needs a break to recuperate."

After saying his sentence, Nathan turned around to step towards the operating room. He was seen conversing with the nurse in front of the operating room, then went inside with the nurse.

Of course Akram is not willing to take a break to rest. After Elios came and delivered a change of clothes for him - a more casual outfit rather than a formal suit or shirt - Akram immediately picked up the new clean outfit. He changed his clothes while staring at Elios who stood patiently waiting for Akram to finish wearing his clothes, while the bodyguards seemed to be waiting behind him.

"Have you got that truck driver?" akram asked slowly, his tone soft but implying a threat.

"He was in the basement on the bottom floor that could not be accessed carelessly in this hospital. We brought him here as you ordered. We have also done the initial interrogation process" Elios replied quickly. The truck driver, of course, tried to escape after successfully carrying out his duties, crashing into Akram Night's car, but of course Akram's men could quickly manage to snatch the truck driver in a silent operation and immediately secure the truck driver so as not to be tracked by the authorities who were also chasing him.

"What did you get?" Akram Night asked again, wearing a jacket as a coating of the dark t-shirt he had worn.

"He still won't open his mouth, sir. Insist that it was an accidental accident."

"Already, Sir. The truck driver was divorced from his wife many years ago, and his two children are kept by his wife in a small town hundreds of miles from here. We've been leaning back and don't see any trace of her closeness to her children. Their relationship doesn't seem very good."

"So no one will cry if he dies," Akram's eyes flashed dangerously, "Take me to him, when I'm done with him, he'll beg to be better off killed alone,"

Akram quickly turned around, stepping out of the emergency room. When he reached the doorway, Akram stopped his steps for a moment, and glanced towards the operating room door that was still tightly closed.

Elana's still being handled in there, and Nathan hasn't been out of the operating room either. For now, Akram has to go and leave Elana in Nathan's hands. Akram hopes that he can complete the interrogation process quickly so that he can quickly return to this place by the time the Elana operation is completed.

He had to search all the way inside until he found the brain behind this accident. Akram does have many enemies, but this one will get his full attention. Not only because his enemy had dared to harass him, but also because they had dared to cause his woman to be injured. Akram will not stop before finishing them off until the toilet to the roots.

When Akram stepped out of the emergency room, two of his men simultaneously appeared out of the elevator, they ran around with a panicked expression instead of a fist, and only stopped when faced with Akram, then looked down in fear without daring to speak.

"What's wrong?" Akram asks quickly, knowing that something has gone wrong and disbanding his plan.

One of his men managed to neutralize his breath and answered quickly.

"Sir, the truck driver took his own life. When he remains unwilling to confess, we say that you will be the one to interrogate him yourself. And for the sake of hearing that you yourself will handle it, the truck driver was wracked with great fear to choose suicide by biting his own tongue. We tried to stop the bleeding, but it was too late, he was not saved." obviously his men stammered, filled with fear for having failed to carry out the task.

They did not expect at all that the key witness would take such reckless action that took his own life, and at this time, if Akram Night was angry at their incompetence, it would be their lives.

"The driver of the truck was so frightened of you that he would rather die than be interrogated by yourself..." Elios concluded slowly with a frown.

"No," Akram refuted while shaking thinly. "Maybe he was indeed afraid of me, for I would definitely succeed in making him open his mouth and extract information from him. But I think he's more afraid of his boss, the man behind all this. The truck driver knew that if he opened his mouth to me, he would face dire consequences from his boss. Die at my hands or die at the hands of his boss, the result remains the same, he will face death in a painful way. That's why he took a shortcut, dying easily and quickly, by eliminating himself." Akram concluded quickly. "We must be vigilant, Elios. Our enemy this time seems to be quite strong and shrewd."

A chill smeared all over Elana's body, as if her bones were frozen from within. Elana instantly groaned, voicing her discomfort.

"Cold.." he groaned slowly, still unable to open his eyes because his eyelids felt so heavy.

A warm hand cupped his forehead, rubbing Elana's cheeks gently.

"Shhhhh, you just came out of the operating room and are in the recovery and observation room. If in the future there is nothing to worry about, you can enter the treatment room more comfortable," the fingers rubbed both cheeks of Elana while Elana's body was still shivering, "Your body shivered in the cold because of the anesthetic effect after the surgery. I'll add your blanket. Get some more sleep, I promise you'll be okay."

Something heavy felt stuck onto his body. Heavy, soft and warm, a thick blanket that feels comfortable. Elana felt the coldness in her body start to be driven away and her gigilan subsided while her eyes were still closed tightly.

What happened to her? Where is he? Who was operated on?

The questions flashed vaguely alternating in his foggy brain, but the deep drowsiness caused by sleeping pills that still remained in his veins took over everything, forcing Elana back into the dark, deep embrace of dreamland.

When Elana opened her eyes, all that seemed around her was the dim feel of a tiny sleeping lamp beside the bed that became the only light source in this room.

Elana's entire body felt stiff and she felt thirsty, but even so, Elana still looked around the room warily, confused by what was happening to her.

His consciousness had not recovered properly and his memory was still foggy. Elana even felt her mind empty, as if floating among the black clouds that were encircling and was about to force her to lose consciousness again

As much as Elana's energy held back so as not to fall back in deep sleep. He tried to move his body to wake up, but his body refused to cooperate, feeling heavy when moved.

Elana widened her eyes, looked down at her body and wide-eyed when she found that her hand was in a cast thickly. The other hand is also connected with a hose to a drip-netes infusion bag on a special pole located beside the bed.

He's in the hospital again?

Elana tries to dig into her memory trying to figure out why she ended up in the hospital again, then the prowess of a truck traveling at high speed brings horror that urges Elana's soul and makes her heart beat

Elana closed her eyes, trying to neutralize her wheezing breath. When Elana opened her eyes again, her gaze was instead fixated on the figure she had just realized was inside this room.

The figure was wearing black-black clothes, with hair disheveled and not neatly combed as usual, making him appear younger than his usual appearance. His eyes closed tightly, indicating that the man was sound asleep in his seat on a single sofa chair that appeared to have been pulled up to approach the bed. His tall body seemed uncomfortable sitting on that narrow sofa so that his long legs should be straightened forward and crossed with each other.

Akram Night? Why is that guy here?
