“You pierced Xavier Light?”

Sabina's voice rang out loud inside the simple motel room they were currently occupying.

Sabina had returned the freight car she had rented using a fake name to her place. He also bought another car under the hand, a type of illegal car without mail that would not be tracked in any database.

After that, he took Aaron to drive his car out of town and chose a temporary hideout in the suburbs very carefully.

This motel room he rented was owned by an elderly couple who did not know how to use the internet. They only rely on visitors who pass the route out of town and need a place to shelter. There is no latest technology in this place, even the receptionist and reception section of the motel is handled by the owner himself, with calculations and manual notes without a computer, as well as the room key that still uses the original key, not a tap card with a special chip to open the door.

Even so, this motel room is adequate enough to be used as a shelter and hiding place. The lack of technology becomes more value for Sabina, because it makes her enemies will not be able to track her. The room is also quite spacious and quite clean even though all the furniture and interior looks old and weathered.

Aaron was applying medicine to the wounds on his body, and Sabina's question about his actions towards Xavier made her nervous.

So, the commotion with the helicopter was about to get in touch with Xavier…. But what is Xavier's condition now? Was the man seriously injured? Or maybe the guy is dead?

Sabina paced around in the room while thinking hard.

If Xavier dies, then all his troubles have been destroyed. Why did he do all this when the big fish was no longer there?

Not to mention, by taking the decision to save Aaron from Xavier's captivity, he had to deal with Dimitri. The man had already warned him that his life depended on Xavier. Dimitri has clearly said that Xavier should not die because if Xavier dies, then Dimitri will not get a cure for the poison until finally after death.

If Xavier is to die, Sabina is convinced that Dimitri will not release Aaron as the perpetrator who is considered to ruin everything. Sabina herself who had deliberately violated the order by saving Aaron and involving herself in this matter, would also be hit by the stone.

God fucking. He saved Aaron without a second thought because he was pressed for time. If only he knew that Aaron had attacked and threatened Xavier's life, which risked foiling all his plans, he'd rather just let Aaron rot to death in that barn.

But for now, Sabina knew that she could not act rashly. Rice has become porridge. The most important thing now is to make sure things are in place before taking any steps. Sabina finally decided to find out first Xavier's condition, after that, then she will decide on the next action.

With a cruel look full of anger towards the useless stupid man in front of her, Sabina spoke harshly.

“I'll find info. But remember carefully, if Xavier turns out to be dead, then you die too.”

“T-of course.” Sera stammered, realizing how disrespectful she was in acting.

Doctor Nathan's words are true. Although his marriage to Xavier was a loveless, coercive and bonded marriage with grudge and hatred, Xavier was still Sera's husband. It would be unethical for Sera to ask another man, even though her husband was lying and severely injured in a hospital bed.

Quickly, Sera immediately tried to get rid of all her anxiety and curiosity about Aaron's condition. He should be able to focus on Xavier for now.

“A-I also want to know how Xavier.” condition Sera corrected her awkwardly, then fell silent to wait for an explanation from Doctor Nathan.

The man himself put on a serious expression while giving an explanation to Sera. His smile disappeared and Doctor Nathan looked so tense.

“Xavier's condition is very severe. Aplastic anemia sufferers always suffer from blood deficiency, even though Xavier uses personal drugs from his own laboratory that provide good effects so that it does not make him have to undergo transfusions continuously. The drug is effective, but Xavier still has to do all the procedures to keep him safe and survive. But now, with such minimal blood conditions, Xavier was even stabbed so deeply and caused heavy bleeding in his body.” Doctor Nathan looked at Sera cautiously. "For the time being, I'm deliberately keeping Xavier in a coma so he doesn't feel pain."

Sera took a long breath. “I... I don't know how the incident happened.” With hesitation, Sera pondered whether Doctor Nathan could be trusted to share information with. “Night there was an incident concerning Aaron, but we managed to handle it well. Earlier this morning, Xavier was still home, then suddenly in the morning he had disappeared. I really don't know why Aaron stabbed Xavier. But, in my opinion, Aaron was most likely desperate and tried various ways to escape from Xavier, so he did the stabbing.

“Aaron has escaped. I don't know the details, but Akram says that Aaron is working with Sabina, Dimitri.”'s men Doctor Nathan's eyes narrowed and stared intently at Sera. “Sometimes, you don't know a person's color well before you know him in earnest, Sera. About Aaron, I think so. She hasn't shown her real self to you, so you have to be careful.”

Doctor Nathan let out a long breath. “Now I can't do anything, because everything has been taken over by Akram. Akram will protect Xavier and crush anyone he thinks is blocking his way. Sera was wearing sterile clothes to get into the special treatment room. Nathan's doctor has given him permission to view Xavier's condition directly inside this sterile room.

His steps were stifled, a little confused. When he reached the distance of Xavier's hand that was still lying unconscious, Sera immediately stopped her footsteps and was stunned there. His eyes skirted the figure of Xavier, scanning carefully.

Right now, the man looked very different from his bright cheerful and smiling self in his health.

Now, Xavier is lying unconscious, with life support devices connected to his body. The hoses looked especially terrifying to Sera, making Xavier's body as if it was fragile and reliant on the machine with that creepy constant noise.

Was this guy so pale all this time? Or was it Sera who never paid attention to him?

Sera finally ventured to move closer. There was a chair available beside the bed, and he sat there with a stiff body, observing in a stifling silence.

His eyes skimmed over Xavier and inexplicably there was an unbearable sadness that raved when he saw the man's eyes were weakly covered with an oxygen mask that seemed to cover most of his face. There was a thick weight binding on his shoulder and it must have also brushed against his chest, peering slightly from the blanket that wrapped his body all the way down to the chin. And Sera's heart was squeezed when she realized that it was wrapped in a puncture wound in Xavier's chest.

This man in front of him always seemed cheerful, strong and confident when in front of him. Xavier really has an appearance like his name. Light means light. It was as if there was a shimmering light enveloping him, blinding the eyes of anyone who saw him and causing envy to those humans who did not sparkle like him.

But who would have thought that behind that glowing light, was hidden such a pathetic layer of darkness?

Xavier's sick. Sera knows that. She even knew that Xavier married her just to heal himself. Because the man was targeting stem cells from the umbilical cord of their future child.

But knowing through words is very different from seeing them directly.

When looking at Xavier who seemed so weak at the moment, somehow all the fear and horror that plagued Sera due to the trauma that she had been pressuring him for so many years, as if fading away just like that.

Now here, in his eyes, Xavier looked like an ordinary human, not a vile monster, not a heartless, murderous creature, not a psychopath with brain capabilities like artificial intelligence and not a man with a perfect physical appearance that makes anyone jealous.

Xavier looked like an ordinary human being, just like him.

This man was her husband who had likely planted a seed in her body. If what Dr. Nathan said is true…. This man is the only place to take shelter.

Sera finally leaned her body to the edge of the bed, using her hands as an anvil to submerge her head on the edge of the bed and close her eyes.

For some reason, for now, Sera's inner self seemed to contradict. He doesn't want Xavier dead.

Determinedly, Sera raised her head again, then took Xavier's low hand and leaned her cheek there, speechless, just giving a touch of his skin to give Xavier a hint that he was here, trying to give his support in silence.

Sera then closed her eyes again, permeating the surface of Xavier's palm skin that felt cold and soothing on her cheek, then trying to throw everything in her heart.

I don't know how long Xavier's been sinking into the familiar darkness. The darkness always came to protect him when his body was no longer strong to bear the pain that plagued his body.

Just like in childhood when he suffered the blows and torments of his captors, just like when his whole body was in pain and crushed from the inside due to the illness he suffered, that darkness had always been his comfortable shelter.

In that darkness, Xavier could coiled comfortably, not feeling pain, not feeling worried, not remembering anything.

Cold, cold, fun, closed forever….

Xavier wants to be in this place, wants to end up here indefinitely.

He should have stayed on his original plan to die quietly. Why was he even tempted to survive and fight for his life? Wasn't this darkness that had been waiting for a long time to embrace him, his only loyal friend?

But then, there was a soft warm feel on his palm. The warmth seemed to call out to him, like a speck of light in a dark passage that called out and tempted him to come out of his hiding place.

And Xavier is tempted.

He got up, then walked towards the warmth that managed to persuade him.

The sera?

After his consciousness returned, his eyes immediately saw the figure of Sera sitting on the chair near his treatment bed. Sera's body leaned forward and the woman's head fell on the bed, with her palms in it. Sera's eyes were closed and her breath was regularly blown.

The woman apparently fell asleep.

The skin of Sera's cheeks that fell on her palms felt warm, channeling a comfortable feel that immediately flowed throughout her body.

So, is it the warmth of Sera calling him back?

Xavier opened his mouth, about to make a sound, but his dry throat hurt, making it difficult for him to make a sound.

When he finally managed to call the woman's name, Xavier's voice sounded so raucous and faltered that it was almost terrible.

“Sera...”.

Just putting out that one word felt difficult for him. Then as if that wasn't enough, pain instantly flooded his chest as he tried to catch his breath.

The consciousness that has returned intact awakens all of his senses, including his ability to feel pain. And when all of her pain receptors were fully awakened, pain immediately rained down on her chest, making her entire body cell scream because she could not bear the pain.

“Se... ra..”.

Xavier tried to whisper Sera's name again with great difficulty. His weak body made him unable to move his hand which was overstressed by the woman's cheek. At the same time, his whole body reacted, he began to have difficulty breathing, along with that, his blood pressure and heart rate increased rapidly as a result of enduring the intense pain.

Alert alarm on life support tool immediately in action, reads ‘bib’ with a high tone, the sound sounds in a row, immediately filled the room.

That sound is what makes Sera wake up from her sleep. His eyes blinked, first confused, then when his ears caught the sound of the alarm that went off in a row, he was immediately alert and straightened up.

It was at that moment that Sera immediately looked at Xavier's eyes that were staring at him.

Xavier's eyes seemed to imply a deep pain and the pain seemed to hold him back so much that Xavier seemed to want to say a word, but was unable to do so.

“Xavier?”

Sera gasped, exclaiming in surprise when she saw that Xavier was already unconscious.

But. the sound of the alarm…

Sera glanced towards the life support tool which sounded loudly and displayed a red warning sign that was flashing rapidly there.

Gosh darn. Xavier's Condition…

Sera did not have time to react because suddenly the door was wide open. Doctor Nathan ran in with a worried expression and several nurses seemed to follow behind him.The man half removed Sera from the edge of the bed as soon as he saw Xavier's eyes open and was conscious, making Sera forced to retreat a few steps away from the bed.

Nathan's doctor examined him carefully, then gave Xavier instructions. The nurses injected drugs into the infusion, while the others acted quickly as directed by Dr. Nathan to stabilize Xavier's condition.

Among all the busyness, Doctor Nathan still had time to turn his head towards Sera and looked at her angrily.

“What did you do to Xavier? Why did you wake him up?” doctor Nathan asked in an intimidating high voice. “You know, I purposely put Xavier in a coma so he doesn't feel pain. The blade stuck in the area of his lungs so that it would hurt Xavier even when he tried to breathe normally. Xavier shouldn't be waking up!”

Sera was overwhelmed, wracked with guilt and confusion.

“T-but... I didn't do anything...”.

Sera almost cried, her chest felt tight and her voice was swallowed by an uncontrollable sobbing

“Doctor...”.

One of the nurses pulled back Doctor Nathan's attention making the man frown and turn his head for a moment. When gazing back at Sera, his expression seemed unfriendly, as if there was an implied accusation from her that Sera had deliberately made Xavier wretched.

“We will do medical treatment here. I hope you're willing to get out of here.” Doctor Nathan gave a cold warning, then turned around and treated Sera again.

The expulsion was so real, it stabbed Sera into her heart and made her know that her presence was not expected in this place.

Sera finally stepped back, while her eyes were still fixed on Xavier's figure on the bed that was almost invisible because it was covered by the medics who were taking action against her.

Meanwhile, the sound of an alarm in the life support machine connected to Xavier's body continued to sound, creating an unpleasant stifling feel that made Sera suddenly feel claustrophobic.

The woman forced herself, dragging her footsteps out of the treatment room. Trained herself away from the closed door behind her, she walked slowly by propping one of her hands against the hospital wall.

But, just a few steps walk, Sera could not stand it anymore. His legs seemed unable to support his body, just fade away and make him fall on the hospital floor, leaning against the walls of the hallway helplessly.

The memory fatigue about the pain in Xavier's eyes instantly resurfaced in his memory, joining the memory of how a team of doctors tried to deal with Xavier as hard as they could to preserve his life.

Sera immediately covered her face with both hands. The tightness in his chest melted into a clear whirlpool that hardened uncontrollably from the corner of his eyes. She cried sobbing hysterically, making her whole body shake with heartache.

It seemed, Sera was indeed destined to be a misfortune for everyone.

Her mother even said that her twin sister lost a fight over food with her in the womb so that she died in the womb. Then his family was destroyed, his father was invalid and his mother committed suicide. When the Dawn family picks it up, she ends up being the bearer of misfortune by causing Xavier to finish them off.

And Aaron….

If Sera had never existed in this world, maybe people's lives would have been better.
