“They said you locked yourself in your lab room for days.”
Akram crossed his arms while leaning his tall body against the door he had just entered. His forehead creased slightly as he looked at Xavier who was busy behind the large desk of his research which was one of the largest and most spacious furnishings inside the laboratory room. Various kinds of glass tubes in complicated positions arranged on the table, not to mention coupled with many types of lab equipment that Akram himself was not even able to describe.
Xavier did not raise his head. The man was so focused on the various chemical fluids available colorful in the glass tubes in front of him. Next to Xavier's hand was a pencil he used to scribble out intricate chemical formulas on paper he placed beside his research glass tubes. The paper was full of its own scribbles based on the conclusions of hundreds of previous experiments.
“They just let you in here?” Xavier greeted in a light tone without answering Akram's previous question. This special chemical laboratory owned by Xavier, built in a bunker under the tangah located in the back end of the complex of his magnificent house that is almost unreachable by ordinary humans. The area is heavily guarded by almost impenetrable security forces, coupled with a tight electronic security system, capable of locking each entryway with various impenetrable locking.
“You gave me a pass in.” Akram frowned. “Have you forgotten?” Akram's question should have found the answer before it was even thrown. Xavier never forgets, Akram knows that and Akram does deliberately throw questions to his foster brother to provoke him. The relationship between the two of them may have really improved lately, but that doesn't mean they stop provoking each other and mocking each other.
Xavier grinned. “Ah, I can't believe you chose to use that pass to penetrate the security perimeter through the laboratory I'm in right now. You know, my lab is a very dangerous place, who knows there's viral contamination that escapes polluting the air, or maybe an explosion due to improper fomulation of chemicals?” her question was meaningful, replying to Akram's provocation with a sentence implying a threat.
Xavier did deliberately give a fitting card to Akram a few months ago. The card was indeed made so that Akram could reach him wherever Xavier was. Because it has many enemies, Xavier is always surrounded by a very tight and almost impenetrable security perimeter. Moreover, when he was in a dangerous place like this one of his laboratories, his security perimeter was even many times tighter than usual. By carrying the card, Akram will be able to penetrate the security perimeter with the tightest possible guard, because all guards have been instructed to let the card bearer enter to meet Xavier without obstruction.
Akram thinned his lips, staring at Xavier with a serious expression. “You're not the sloppy kind, maybe years ago when you were young you did it, he said, but now you're no longer fit to blow up your lab or commit a haphazard act like passing a dangerous virus in your own research room.”
What Akram said is true. In the past, despite having a capable genius, it does not mean that Xavier's ability was obtained with perfection from the beginning, there are times when his adoptive brother blew something up in his lab room, or even spilling dangerous liquids that injure the surface of his skin. But, the ability is gained from experience. For now, you could say Xavier has achieved what is called perfection and almost never makes mistakes in his work.
“You bothered to come here, is there any useful information for me to know?” Xavier finally looked at Akram directly sharply. “Given it turns out I have underestimated the rotten one. He really is able to hide. It's been a few months and I can't even find a trace of it at all. Could he be hiding at the bottom of the sea? Or maybe Aaron is dead?” tanyanya slow.
“Speaking about death. That's why I came here to see you.” Akram quietly replied, enjoying seeing the stunned Xavier hear his words.
Well, a few months had already passed quickly and amazingly, they were able to pass through it in peace without any meaningful incidents. Unfortunately, they also hit a dead end in their search for Aaron. Sabina's presence as bait turned out to be also not welcome, never once Aaron tried to get close to Sabina even though they had carried out strict supervision throughout the perimeter surrounding Sabina. In the end, for the time being Sabina was employed under the tutelage of Dimitri who until this point was still forced to cooperate with them, pending further instructions.
“About death?” Xavier stared at Akram in disbelief. “Don't tell me that cowardly jerk is dead?”
“We can't confirm it yet.” Akram stared at Xavier carefully. “A body found washed up in a snowy field in Serbia. Since his body was intact, we were able to identify that the corpse had the same face and appearance as Aaron. Even the posture and the distinctive features on his body are exactly the same, including a mole and crescent-shaped birthmark on his back.”
“If indeed the corpse mostly shows evidence that he is Aaron, why do you still seem unsatisfied?” Xavier is very good at reading facial expressions. Of course he knew clearly that Akram did not look like the news about Aaron.
“Because this is too easy, after all..” Akram held back his voice for a moment, his eyes watching Xavier's face to make sure the man actually heard what he was about to say. “DNA the corpse can't be traced.”
“What do you mean?” Xavier straightened his back. He had expected that something was strange, but he had no idea that his enemy would resort to such a sophisticated method using a DNA scrambler.
“You know exactly what I mean. The corpse was as if it had been vandalized from within with a special poison. My experts can't identify if he's really Aaron or not. Our only grip is the exact same face, physical features and birthmark as Aaron.” Akram answered with a pondering tone.
“How about his fingerprint?” Xavier asked again.
Akram took a long breath. “Although the physical condition is intact and good like a corpse that goes into the refrigerator, the condition of his hands and feet is not good. It was as if while alive, that person was forced to fight in the middle of a blizzard to death, without a good enough protector. His fingers and toes blackened and shattered due to Deep sever frostbite.”
Xavier nodded his head thinly. He had guessed. Frostbite is a condition of the skin and surrounding tissue that freezes and then breaks down. This condition generally occurs due to exposure to very low temperatures, especially those below -0.55 degrees Celsius. When in a low-temperature place, the body will try to increase blood flow to vital organs. This process is done by narrowing the blood vessels in other areas, such as the legs and hands. As a result, the area becomes cold and freezes easily. If the tissue has frozen, ice crystals will form that can damage the cells and surrounding tissue. Decreased blood flow will also reduce the oxygen supply in the area and aggravate tissue damage called frostbite.
While the one who attacked the corpse before his death was Deep sever frostbite, the condition was the most severe level of damage, the skin became hard and black where this symptom signifies tissue death. When the entire skin on the fingers becomes hard and black, the outer layer of the skin surface will be completely destroyed so that the fingerprints painted there will not be identified.
Xavier crouching with a disturbed expression. “All the things that accompany the corpse, make us as if forced to agree that the corpse is Aaron by looking at all the physical features without his DNA identification. Moreover, the corpse was found in a pile of cold Siberian snow fields, as if to make sure the physical body of the corpse was not damaged except for the tip of his finger, right? With the body intact, Aaron's face and all his birthmarks, will be intact in our eyes.”
“You suspect that it's not Aaron, even though all his physical features are exactly the same?” Akram did not say that he agreed or did not with Xavier's mindset, he decided to hear the man's explanation further before deciding.
“I would never have believed that it was Aaron's corpse if I didn't get a definitive DNA identification report. It could just be a scenario that tries to fool us so we don't chase Aaron anymore.” Xavier replied in a furious tone.
Akram looked at Xavier with a judging look before speaking later. “My men still keep the body in the freezer. Do you want to see it? Others may not find new clues, but if you're your level, I'm sure you can find what others can't find.”
Xavier nodded his head thinly. “I'll set the schedule, once I'm done with this.” The man looked down again, focusing on the formula he was formulating.
Akram tilted his head slightly and stared with an interested look. “They said you spent your time in this lab room for days. What exactly are you working on? What new virus are you going to create? Or what kind of poison did you produce?”
Xavier shook his thin head. “This is not a virus or a poison,” he replied later in a mysterious tone.
That answer made Akram even more curious. Xavier, who is known to have a very strong interest in viruses or poisons. You could say, only those two things are usually done by Xavier wholeheartedly.
“If it's not a virus or poison, so what are you working on?” Because Xavier did not give any further explanation, Akram finally voiced the question in his mind.
“I do soap. Liquid foam soap.” Xavier answered briefly, his expression still seriously staring at the formula paper sheet in front of him, as if looking around for mistakes there that could possibly derail the end result.
Xavier chuckles. “Come on Akram, how could I do such a ridiculous thing by bothering to create toxic soap?”
“Then what did you make? Don't tell me you're making regular soap, because I won't believe.” Akram replied impatiently, full of curiosity about Xavier's behavior which was quite strange in his eyes.
Xavier grinned, smiling broadly at Akram while showing his doodled paper.“I've almost succeeded. Yesterday I failed because I had not found the right formulation for the authenticity of the aroma. There was still less so I had to repeat and try again. But for this one, I think I'll make it,”.
“Actually you're making what?” Akram responded with an impatient tone.
“I make scented soap.” Xavier shrugged, answering in a light and guiltless tone.
“What scent makes it so difficult to create an authentic copy? Is that the scent of death?” sahut Akram with a strong sarcasm.
Xavier chuckles. “Of course not, I cannot possibly give the soap of the scent of death to Serafina.”
“You make scented soap for Serafina?” Akram again frowned in confusion.Xavier nodded his head.
“I made this soap at Sera's request. You know, Sera's stomach is getting bigger and thankfully besides her aching back and her slightly swollen legs, she has absolutely no trouble eating or serious pain. Just... lately the demand is increasingly difficult to obey.”
Sera's gestational age has almost reached seven months with two twins corresponding to the results of the three-dimensional ultrasound one month ago, the female gender. Even so, the doctor still did not provide certainty and asked them to come again at the age of the womb exactly seven months to do the ultrasound again and this time really ensure the gender of both their babies. Sera's stomach is getting bigger, especially her small body must accommodate two twins in her womb which makes her stomach unusually distended when compared to ordinary pregnancy. Akram himself knows exactly how Xavier tried to ease the burden of Sera's pregnancy by following whatever his wife asked him.
“As a husband, it is your duty to follow your wife's request as difficult as it may be. Elana's current pregnancy is very different from her previous pregnancies. Right now, Elana is completely independent to the point of asking almost nothing of me. But I remember, I used to force my hotel chef to make a special dish, because he asked for an unusual menu. But, the demand for pregnant women usually concerns food. While Sera... she asked for soap?” Akram as if inexhaustible, looked at Xavier in confusion.
“Yeah, it's actually still related to food as well.” Xavier stopped his sentence, as if puzzled as to where to explain. “So, a few days ago, I invited Sera to eat at a restaurant. He really liked the opening dish, creamy corn soup with a very delicious savory aroma. Then, Sera said, if only she could soak in this warm cream soup dough in the bath tub, maybe she could really feel relaxed. You know, his enlarged stomach makes his back often hurt lately.” Xavier spoke in a thick guilty tone, looking at Akram solemnly. “As crazy as I am, I can't make my wife soak in corn cream soup. So, here I am, trying to make foam soap scented with corn cream soup so that my wife can take a bath in it and feel relaxed.”
