EOTL eps 74: A Competition
“You're going after Aaron and organise a contest for all the assassins to kill him?” Sera's eyes immediately widened when she heard Xavier's terrifying cruel sentence. His hands instantly moved to grip the sleeves of Xavier's shirt, pulling him in a protesting manner. “You can't do that! You promised to let Aaron go and not go after him again!” he exclaimed in a panicked tone, maintaining the violent fear in the chest.
Xavier's eyes darkened, filled with anger when he heard Sera's defense of Aaron.“Do you think everything I told you was the wind? Aaron paid a hit man to harm a child in your womb, and you're still defending him?” reply with a piercing sharp tone.
Sera. That's not what it means. He asks Xavier to free Aaron so that he is free from the debt of gratitude for Aaron's kindness in the past. By helping save Aaron that time. Sera assumes that all of her debt for Aaron's kindness to her in the past has been breached. That way, Sera can focus on running her deal with Xavier, in order to repay Xavier for freeing Aaron and his father.
But why is everything like this? At a time when Sera's heart had calmed down when she could finally let go of her love for Aaron and struggled to focus on giving birth to Xavier's child safely, why is Aaron still coming back?
Why would the man go after the baby and want to take it back to his side? Is it true what Xavier said earlier that Aaron suddenly changed his mind and decided to want him back without a child in his womb? What prompted Aaron to commit such a desperate act? Didn't he know that by harassing Xavier, it would be like feeding his life to a fearsome ruthless executioner?
“I didn't mean it.” Sera's eyes began to glaze over, confused by not being able to string the exact words that would otherwise ignite Xavier's anger. Sera realized that the man was already so angry. A dark, ruthless aura now exuded from his body, making Sera's hair goosebumps in fear. He really did not want it to make Xavier more angry and the situation got worse. “I mean.. we-we have agreed not to bother Aaron again, so.. so....”.
“Serafina Moon.” Xavier gripped both of Sera's shoulders and forced the woman to face him. “It wasn't me who started this fight, but Aaron started all this. What do you think I should do when it's like this?” The man looked extremely angry, his molars tightened and his expression was completely dark sinister. “You think the hit men who were tempted by the prize money from Aaron were just playing around? The recently deceased can get information about our movements and get inside the boutique, escape scrutiny and wait to harm you from the bathroom stall. Don't you realize how serious this is? They can harm you anytime and anywhere!”
Xavier began to snap as he said the man's sentence shaking Sera's shoulders slightly as if he wanted to resuscitate her. “If I hadn't gotten a call from Dimitri in time, if only I hadn't gotten into that toilet in time, what do you think would've happened to you? The gun with the poisoned bullet may have penetrated your stomach, entered your womb, contaminated your fetus and killed the child while he was still so weak and struggling to thrive there. You may have severe bleeding that could threaten your life. Don't forget Elana's in that toilet cubicle too, if she gets out of there at the wrong time, you think the killer's just gonna let her go? Elana can also have a miscarriage and even be shot dead on the spot instantly before being able to make a sound or fight.”
Xavier bent his body, bringing his face close to Sera's face, while his eyes nailed deeply, forcing Sera's gaze to be caught in her cruel gaze. “Now, do you understand how serious this is? If I don't do anything about it, those assassins will keep coming, attacking you one after another in pursuit of the prize money. Most of the assassins may have been afraid of me, but I'm sure many of them were tempted by the big prize money to risk their lives against me. Are you asking me to hold on as hard as I can and protect you without retaliating against Aaron? What if my guards let their guard down and you end up getting hurt? What if the child in your womb ends up hurting and you miscarry? How's my? What about yourself? Aren't you thinking about all that?”
Xavier's straight questions that really don't need answers make Sera stunned. He was unable to refute, nor was he able to say anything. That's all, because from any angle, all Xavier's words are true.
“There's no other way but to make a contest so they kill Aaron? Can't you make a match competition that no longer costs the lives of others?” Sera asked that question to Xavier desperately. Sera's head was hot as she tried to think hard to find a way. But unfortunately, all felt deadlocked.Xavier shook his head firmly.
“There is no other way. I'll announce the competition soon. This is a power struggle between me and Aaron.” With an intimidating gesture, Xavier touched Sera's cheek, rubbing it slowly. “I know you're happy that Aaron still wants you and I know that I promised to set you free, even if you wanted to go back to Aaron. But right now, you're pregnant with my son, so I'm going to keep that child at all costs.”
Xavier's eyes flashed as the man continued his sentence with a terrifying growl full of threats. “You can't interfere at all. Remember, Serafina, I don't care if you're pregnant with my son or not. If you dare to betray me and turn your side to Aaron, if you try to contact him in any way, then I am forced to make you say goodbye to the comfortable life you are living right now. I'm gonna make you go through the rest of your pregnancy until you give birth later in the underground location in my secret place that no one will ever reach. You'll live there, locked up and imprisoned under the tight guard I put in to hold you. I swear if until you betray me, then you won't be able to see sunlight again until your son is born.”

“The contact is okay. Sera probably only felt shock because of the unexpected incident earlier.” Doctor Nathan spoke slowly towards Xavier, trying to calm the man down.
Once they arrived at the hospital, Sera was immediately placed in a treatment room located on a special floor and underwent a screening examination by Doctor Nathan. They said that Elana had gotten to her first and had finished her examination in the treatment room next to them, but Xavier forced Sera to rest in this room and was not allowed to go out, even just to visit Elana.
“Do you still feel nauseous?” Doctor Nathan turned his gaze towards Sera, asking gently to make Sera slightly gasp because she had been busy with her own thoughts since then.
Slowly Sera shook her head, then replied in a soft voice.
“I'm no longer nauseous.” Sera strongly fortified herself so that the memory of the blood poison victim who died before her eyes did not reappear in her head. “I'm just a little tired.”
A second after Sera spoke, Xavier who heard it immediately moved swiftly. The man pushed the body of Sera who had been sitting on the edge of the bed to lie there, then immediately enveloped her before Sera could move.
“You may be weak because you have not eaten, I will ask to be sent food to fill your stomach. While waiting for the food to come, lie down for a moment,” his orders in a firm tone.
Sera did not refuse when laid, she did feel weak and exhausted. Despite that, he still threw a curious gaze towards Xavier as if there were words that could not be said since the two of them had not been left alone.
Doctor Nathan is seen watching over the interaction between Sera and Xavier, and the man decides to say goodbye because his job in this room to check on Sera is done.
“I think I'll leave you two alone,” he said later.
“Thank you, Nathan. There's something I want to talk to you about, wait a little while outside and I'll catch up with you.” Xavier said in a calm manner, the man's eyes still fixed on Sera, scanning the woman from head to toe.
“Oke.” While speaking casually, Nathan's doctor said. The man nodded slightly towards Sera before then moving away from the room.

Being left alone with Xavier made Sera glance at the man in an awkward manner. After all, their argument in the car had ended up with an unpleasant nuance to each other. They arrive at the hospital without a word and Xavier immediately orders Sera to be examined without giving the two of them a chance to clear up the atmosphere.
Sera had chosen to keep her mouth shut, intending to finish what was delayed once they were left alone. However, it was now when the two of them were only in this quiet room with the opportunity to talk to each other freely without any interference at all, Sera did not even want to bring the topic of their debate back to the surface.
Perhaps they could discuss it later when their minds had been equally clear. For now, Sera was too tired if she had to argue again with Xavier, she just wanted to close her eyes and rest.
Even so there was a question in his heart that had to be thrown out because it required an answer from Xavier.
“S-until when am I in this hospital treatment room?” ask her slowly in a timid tone.
That guy's gonna let her go home, isn't he? Sera can't be kept in this hospital room, can she?
Xavier thins his lips when he answers. “Until I can judge that the situation is safe for you then you can go home. Right now your entire house is being checked all the way to every point to make sure there are no gaps to enter. Given the information about our existence in the baby equipment boutique was leaked even before we arrived, then I also did a re-screening of the entire background of the employees, both my employees and Akram employees. Me too ...” Xavier cleared his throat for a moment before he could continue. “I also re-injected a special poison to all my employees. You don't have to worry. I told you that the poison I had specifically injected into my employees was harmless and inactive. The poison will only be activated if they are proven to be treasonous, even if I do not decide to kill them with my own hands.”
Xavier's eyes flashed with a terrifying dangerous beam, but only for a moment as Xavier instantly brushed off the beam. “For now, you don't have to do anything but stay here and rest for the sake of your baby. I'll protect you, by all means.”
Unexpectedly, after saying his sentence, Xavier bowed his body over Sera who was lying down, the man then kissed Sera's forehead gently while his palms cupped Sera's eyes, the man, gently sweep it as if forcing the eyes to close tightly.
“Sleep,” whispers later in a raucous tone of voice. Then without looking at Sera again, Xavier turned around and moved away from the room.
“What's up?” ask him with a slightly dislike attitude. Xavier clearly showed the same desire as Sera. He wanted Sera to rest and not start a debate with Xavier.
Sera widened her eyes, gulped and ventured to stare at Xavier with full supplication.
“A-I'm scared.” Seriously mean it with his words. She was terrified of being left alone in this room. The silence that will certainly surround him when alone, will certainly bring a gripping shadow about the figure of the murderous woman contaminated with blood poison.
The woman was alive, breathing, and able to speak out in front of her. But after the blood poison was injected into him, his entire body hole seemed to leak out, draining so much blood, melting his body from within with agonizing pain….
Sera tried hard, but he was not sure he could get rid of the image of the collapsed body figure and convulsing blood with a terrible moan coming out of his mouth that spurted fresh blood before then the body stretched and picked up his death.
When someone else was with her, Sera could take her mind off. But now, just as he was about to be left alone, the shadow came again, overrunning his brain, afflicting him with an unbearable fear.
Xavier certainly immediately realized the fear that overshadowed Sera's eye bead. The man reviewed a thin smile of calm, then moved up the bed, before then embracing Sera who did not refuse into his embrace.
“You want to be accompanied to sleep?” she whispered crazily, hugging Sera so that she could cushion her arm and gently rub her hair.
Sera did not answer, but the woman nodded her head. His face was immersed in the fabric of Xavier's shirt which gave off a distinctive and soothing aroma of sweet vanilla. Sera's eyes closed, trying to scoop up the peace that came to surround the result of Xavier's embrace, and rolled it into her head to get rid of the terrible shadow that haunted her.
Xavier's chest rumbled by a stifled laugh that turned into a soft nudity on his lips. The man lowered his head and sunk his head into the fragrance of Sera's hair, before then asking in a gentle tone.
“Are you not wrong? You're scared because of the memory of that dead assassin woman, aren't you? Why are you leaning on me to get rid of your bad memories? Did you forget that I was the perpetrator of the murder that caused the woman to die in a terrible condition?”
