The Essence Of The Darkness

The Essence Of The Darkness
EOTL eps 49: Negotiation

Sera's words made Xavier dumbfounded.

This woman rejected the offer of freedom she gave?

During this time Xavier thought that Sera would jump for joy, thrusting forward and impatiently snatching away the freedom that Xavier had offered him. But, unexpectedly, instead of doing it all, Sera refused to be divorced by him.

What exactly is inside Sera's complicated head? Xavier had always felt that he was very intelligent, but somehow when it came to what was inside the head of a creature called a woman, Xavier had enough difficulty translating it.

"I'm not throwing you away." Slowly, Xavier pulled out a calm rebuttal sentence which he had calculated carefully. "Can't you see from the positive side? I have offered you freedom. A freedom you really want, right?" Xavier asked in a cynical tone, unable to drown out the irony in his voice.

Sera raised her chin haughtily, courageously she stared towards Xavier.

"The freedom you're offering is too late, Xavier. You've touched me, used my body and used me as you please. You've ruined me, and now you want to dump me after you're satisfied with it?" sera's cheeks flushed in embarrassment as she said the sentence, but she forced herself to continue with her words. Xavier must not trample Sera at will, Sera must be able to maintain her pride in front of the man. "You can't act all you want, Xavier Light," Sera later said.

Xavier's eyes widened, it was obvious that the man was surprised and completely unexpected of Sera's reaction to the offer of freedom he was given.

"So what do you want?" Just this time Xavier completely lost his way and could not read what Sera meant. Usually he is very good at predicting, but somehow now his head feels empty to make him only able to ask, like a fool.

"What do I want?" Replace Sera who widened his eyes, the woman seemed inexhaustible why Xavier did not understand it. "I refused the divorce. I refuse to be banished! You can't just...."

Before Sera could continue the long line of scolding that was about to slide from her lips, Xavier had moved his hand gesturing for Sera to stop talking. The man let out a deep breath, as if he had trouble breathing.

Sera's anger receded instantly. His expression that had been stirring was ready to fight, instantly fading, filled with anxiety.

"A-are you okay?" ask her then in a nervous tone.

Xavier gave a firm nod in response. But, the man again sighed as if calming himself down. His own hand moved to signal Sera to wait.

The silence was long enough in the room. Sera was unmoved, not even daring to move or make a sound in the slightest, while her eyes were glued towards Xavier, watching the man closely.

Sera forgot that Xavier was seriously injured....

Did the attitude against him earlier make Xavier's condition worse? Is Sera supposed to resign and obey?

"I just want to reaffirm to you. Looks like you saw my offer from the negative side. I didn't throw you away, instead I let you go and set you free, isn't that what you want?" Xavier put his sentence together slowly. "This marriage is designed to bind you, to make you my prisoner and to use your body to bear my children. But now I'm freeing you. You deserve to live your own life." Xavier stopped his sentence, then looked at Sera with full judgment. "Your father will be released from prison and get the proper treatment in the hospital. Aaron's gonna get the antidote. And you can set your pace as freely as possible."

Sera's eyes widened over the new knowledge she had gained, her body stiffening.

"You released my father from state prison? How come?" he screamed with a strangled voice.

During this time, his father who is invalid and in a condition of brain damage get medical care at a health facility in the city prison. The pain suffered by his father as a result of the chastisement of cellmates who were the messenger of Roman Dawn was never taken into consideration to reduce or break the sentence of his life sentence. After all, Roman Dawn herself maliciously made sure that her father ended up rotting in prison, because her father was the guarantee of Sera's obedience to her. Until the death of Roman Dawn, Sera, who had no power, always thought that she had to obey whatever Roman Dawn said in order to save her father's life.

Then, when Xavier takes over everything, Sera thinks that the man will do the same, holding her father in a state prison as a hostage in order for Sera to obey him.

But now, Xavier is going to free his father? How-to? Is Xavier's power so great as to abolish the sentence of one's punishment which the state has decreed?

"I don't do dirty things if that's what you think." Xavier said he was calm, able to read clearly what was implied in Sera's mind. "Your father never had a fair legal process in the past. You could say, he was grounded in order to shut the mouth of the Dawn family who became victims. Most likely, I was involved in that, my foster father, Baron Night, would have used all means so that my name would not be involved in the case at all." Xavier looked at Sera fixedly as if trying to read the woman's heart after receiving her confession. He looked for hate in Sera's eyes, but found nothing.

"I'm just asking my lawyer to file a reconsideration taking into account your father's ill condition." Xavier explained again, then stopped his sentence for a moment. Weighing on whether he should say anything about Sera's father's condition, who had cancer and had almost no life expectancy. "They agreed to let your father be cared for in a better facility" he continued, ultimately deciding that now was not the right time to tell Sera.

Later when they reach an agreement that benefits both parties, then Xavier will explain the condition of his father to Sera.

"You released my father, as compensation to me for our divorce?" Sera repeated again as if to be convinced.

"I told you I'd set you free, so there's no more hostages I'm gonna use to threaten you." Xavier nodded his head. "Not only your father, but also Aaron. Akram is currently picking up Aaron at his hideout. They took the serum from me to offer poison to Aaron's body. So, your Aaron will be free and safe. I had even prepared everything so that he could return to his country safely and in spite of my threats. I won't bother him anymore." Xavier's voice was low. "Even if you two come to an agreement and if the blood test results show that you're not pregnant, then you can go with her."

"You released Aaron too, that's good..." Sera spoke unconsciously. For some reason hearing it all, his heart was more filled with relief than with happiness. At least, by releasing Aaron from all the complicated problems he caused, the burden of Sera's debt of gratitude concerning Aaron was destroyed already.

Meanwhile, regarding Sera's feelings for Aaron, Xavier seemed to misinterpret her. Sera once loved Aaron as the only perfect man with genuine kindness who appeared in his miserable life. However, he had killed his feelings for a long time until it was lost, because he realized that his unequal self would even burden Aaron's step towards the peak of his glory.

It was enough for Sera to save Aaron's life and free him from the Dawn family's clean sweep effort launched by Xavier. Sera never expected more.

While Sera was thinking, Xavier observed and immediately came to his own conclusion. He thought that Sera was weighing up to live the rest of her life with Aaron. At that time, impulsively, Xavier was immediately encouraged to unmask Aaron in Sera's eyes, so that the woman did not hang high hopes on Aaron's false appearance and was disappointed later.

"Sera." Xavier draws Sera's attention from his own daydream with his voice. As Sera's eyes lifted and reunited with her eyes, Xavier said, "There's something I have to say about Aar-"

The sound of a knock on the door made Xavier stop his sentence. Both he and Sera both turned their heads towards the door curiously.

It was early morning and the bodyguards outside must have gotten the message that Xavier and himself were having a private conversation so they couldn't be bothered.

A bad feeling instantly filled Sera's mind. If they interrupt their conversation, it means that something is very important....

"Come in" Xavier answered later, commanding decisively to whoever was at the door. The man seemed as curious as Sera.

No need to wait long, the door was opened and the figure of Akram Night was the one who entered the room.

After a long, relentless escape from the motel's location to be untraceable, Aaron eventually runs out of energy. Aaron's body slumped down on the sidewalk and the man leaned against the doorway of an old shop house that had closed.

The atmosphere of the streets was very quiet in the middle of the spatter and dark night that had rolled welcoming morning. Not a single vehicle passed in front of him. Even so, the sidewalk at the location of this suburban shopping was almost full, almost full, colonized by homeless humans who dangle their sleep soundly with roofed old shop terraces that shade their bodies and protect from the rain.

The bums were all ready to spend the night in the open air along the store's headquarters, they wore thick clothes and wide cloths as blankets as well as bedding to protect their bodies from the cold that pierced to the bone.

Of course it was different to Aaron being stranded in this miserable place without any preparation. His entire body was in pain, still bearing the scars of the previous beaten up, and he also felt a fever that lit aching nerves all over his body so that every inch of his skin surface was painless with just a small touch.

Serafina Moon and the fucking Xavier Light! Why would he be so unlucky to have to get involved with those two disturbing creatures?

Aaron cursed inwardly, taking out all the treasury of swear that he knew, but in an instant he realized that being angry alone would solve nothing.

First of all, he had to find a way out of this impasse that entwined him.

Aaron has nothing on his body, only shabby clothes attached and full of dried blood marks, plus the little money Sabina left for him in his pocket. His stomach was rumbling to hold his hunger and it further worsened his condition.

Aaron also did not forget that in his body there was a poison that had been instilled by Xavier to him. If he did not immediately get the antidote, he suspected that the condition of his body would be increasingly weakened and it was not impossible that death would soon fetch him into the arms.

The terrifying shadow of death left Aaron in a state of shock, while his mind was filled with various questions that shrunk his guts.

What's he supposed to do? He was alone in this country in the middle of nowhere, thrashed without anyone who could help him. Who should he ask for help?

Aaron's mind spun like a windmill, searching through his memory, until he found a name that had sunk at the bottom of his deepest memory and only reappeared after he dug it up.

Aaron's eyes instantly shone with hope, and his originally slumped body on the pavement immediately bouncy awake as if getting an injection of new power.

Xavier's eyes widened when he saw Akram himself entering the treatment room. The man was clearly as surprised as Sera seeing Akram's unexpected presence.

"What are you doing here in the middle of the night? You left Elana and Zac alone?" xavier asked in an anxious voice.

Akram stopped his steps and stood near the foot of Xavier's bed. As usual, the presence of the man instantly spread an intimidating dark aura throughout the room which made Sera inching uncomfortably in her chair from being drenched in fear.

"Elana and Zac are safe at home." Akram replied calmly, then looked at Xavier and Sera alternately before then saying, "i originally wanted to hold this information until we could clear up the problem, unfortunately until the early hours like this, I said, my men have not given good news. So, I decided to tell you."

Akram's eyes glanced at Sera, then the man turned his gaze and looked at Xavier sharply.

"Aaron Dawn ran away from the motel where he was hiding before my men came to the motel to pick him up." Akram told in an irritated tone. "The boy made fun of the surrounding population and most likely fled into the narrow alleys of the traditional market area so that my men had trouble tracking him down. We've been using satellites to hack all over the CCTV cameras in all areas, but the creature turns out to be good at hiding because for almost a few hours, my men have been searching fruitlessly."

Xavier's eyes glanced at Sera who looked surprised, then calmly the man replied towards Akram.

"One month," he said counting. "If in one month Aaron does not get the antidote, then he can die" he continued to give ultimatums.

Akram thinned his lips, ignoring Sera who gasped while listening to Xavier's words.

"Although I would rather if the cockroach died alone, I will try to find the creature before a month passes." Akram put his hand in his pocket. "I just came here to tell you that."

"You're certainly not here just for that, are you?" Xavier nodded while holding a smile. "I know you, Akram, and I know I don't mean that much to you to make you feel like these nights coming to the hospital leaving Elana and Zac at home" she guessed.

Akram immediately grinned, his expression that had been stiff, instantly turning soft when he finally spoke.

"I came here to pick up Nathan and deliver Elana's blood and urine samples. Nathan's on night watch here so after he hands the sample to the lab I'll take him home" he replied later.

Xavier stiffened, instantly on guard. "You picked up Nathan? What was? Why should Elana have her blood and urine tested? What's he sick of?" sambarnya fast.

Akram took his hand out of his pants pocket, somehow seeming speechless.

"Elana didn't get her period of months and she felt nauseous and vomited all night. She couldn't sleep because she threw up in the bathroom. From Elana's previous pregnancy experience, we suspect that .. uh ... Elana's probably pregnant again." Akram looks blushing. "You know, Elana's traumatized by the hospital, so I can't force her to come here to check on herself and leave Zac, which is why I picked Nathan up to come home with me."

"Containing again?" This time Xavier and Sera exclaimed almost simultaneously, both of them were equally filled with shock.

"It's still not certain. That's why I called Nathan to check and make sure. It's possible that Elana ate the wrong thing or the other, however Elana is still nursing Zac, so everything has to be dealt with quickly." Akram flicked his hand, deciding their discussion ended here. " I have to go. For Aaron Dawn, I'll make sure he's caught before the one-month timeframe ends" he said later, stepping up to leave the room.

"Thank you, Akram." Xavier suddenly said when Akram had reached the doorway, making Akram's steps falter there.

Acrylic turned his head, his expression looked stiff.

"We are brothers, this is what our fellow brothers should be doing, helping each other," he replied in an awkward tone of voice, then hurriedly stepped out of the room.

After Akram's death, Xavier turned his head back towards Sera, his lips thinning when he saw the shock still poked her face.

"You don't have to worry. Akram's men are expert seekers, they'll find Aaron quickly and give him the serum before it's too late" he said, without hiding the cynical rays in his eyes.

Sera gasped, raising her gaze until her eyes met Xavier's clear eyes.

Yep. Sera was worried about Aaron dying, but somehow, there were other thoughts that filled her brain more than the thought of Aaron.

"If Elana was really pregnant, then most likely - if I was pregnant too - then our child could have been born in an adjacent period of time...." Sera subconsciously voiced her thoughts, the woman frowned and counted, then there was a faint smile on her lips when imagining if it was all really happening.

Elana was very kind and motherly, the woman was also very sincere in giving her attention and help to Sera. Elana has had experience with her previous pregnancies. If they got pregnant together, Sera who knew nothing about pregnancy must have been very helpful.

Xavier raised an eyebrow, not expecting that to be what Sera would say. She thought she would whine, cry and ask Aaron for safety.

"Do you think you're pregnant?" Xavier finally asked in a slightly cynical tone. "What if you're not pregnant? I don't think you need to burden yourself with any possibilities first, before we can do a blood test and accurately prove your pregnancy." There was a tone full of irony in Xavier's voice. The man knew that it would be easier for Sera to be free of him if she did not become pregnant.

That means Xavier has to let Sera go faster, set her free and probably won't see her again. For eternity.

But, unexpectedly, Sera suddenly raised her head, raised her chin arrogantly and again showed her defiant attitude in front of Xavier.

"You released my father from prison so he could get better treatment facilities. You're also willing to release Aaron, give him the antidote to the poison in his body and promise not to bother him again when he returns to Russia. All that kindness would only be a burden to me if I didn't replace it with a value worth." Sera let out a long sigh, then continued, "i won't accept your kindness without reciprocity, Xavier."

Sera then looked at Xavier fixedly, proposing his reckless negotiations. "I gave my body in return to you. I'm determined to conceive your children and deliver their placentas to save your life like our initial commitment did" she continued in a steady tone.

Sera's words left Xavier dumbfounded and looked at Sera as if she had gone mad. Xavier was at a loss for words for a moment, but eventually the man managed to gain control of himself and asked, asking,

"What if the test results later state that you're not pregnant?"

Sera gulped, her face filled with a red hue and her lips trembled. But, bravely, he finally spoke,

"J-if that's the case, then you should try hard to haunt me so that I can conceive and give birth to your children."
