Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 115

“ That's what you did, right?” He pointed at his chest, where he felt a spell pulling us together. “ Some kind of trick? If Porter Andover told you to do all this, for the sake of the Nameless God, I would, I'll—“ his face smoldering and he swung his head, throwing his hair furiously. “ Tell her, I know what she thinks of me, what she thinks of my grandmother, but she has no right to send a traditional witch to reflect on me just for coming to that place.”

“ I didn't do it,” I said, shaking my head strongly. “ It's a spell, but it's not me who cast it.”

“ Very true. And that's why I didn't feel it until I saw you staring at me in the street. That's why you chased me into the woods.” Both of his hands were clenched beside his body, his knuckles turning white. “ I have not forgotten what Porter did when he last met me—the whole corner of my house still reeks of lake mud because of what he did. And if now he's sending a frog handler to—“

“ I didn't spruce it up,” I insisted. “ I swear I didn't do it. But maybe... maybe I can protect you from him.”.

The girl looked at me with her chin held high. It seemed that he was ready to slam the door in front of my face or hit me with his bare hands. I felt trembling and doubtful, completely unprepared to try a spell. Magic raged within me, driven to soar by the sensation of the spell binding us and my own tension.

Calm down, my mind in despair. I can see a spell that can protect us from the thrill that attracts us—a simple low-level shield. But if I mess it up, using too much energy, the power of the shield could throw us all the way to the forest. Please, relax. I raised my trembling hand, but it was of no use. I was too anxious, too afraid to feel calm and afraid to hurt him. I raised my face towards the sky, trying to hold back the tears.

You can do it, it looks like someone is whispering in my ear. The voice sounded as familiar as my own. I turned, almost expecting to see Devan emerge from the forest. However, I heard his voice inside my own head. Even so, the calmness I felt for a moment, the comfortable sensation that came with those memories was enough. In my mind, I imagined a soft blanket wrapped around my body and Diana, a blanket that dispelled the sensation of the spell that attracted us.

I heard Diana sigh as her spell was attached. Her eyes narrowed at me as I looked at her, but it was more judging than suspicious. “ Did you do it?” tanyakanya.

“ You swear?”

“ I swear.”

Diana scowled, then said, “ My name is Bella Erish.”

“ My name is Amelia Muller. And like I said, I'm looking for you.”

The house is tiny, much smaller than the house of aunt Vania— consisting of only one floor room, a small cot, and some outdated furniture. Inside, Bella heated the water over the fireplace, crushed a number of leaves into it, and handed the diluted tea cup to me. Then, clasping her teacup, Bella sat on one of the two chairs and waved her hand towards the other. She looked at me from the lips of her cup as I sat down, then said frankly, “ Speak like a respectable woman. And I've heard your name. People talk about you when they find the real princess. Everyone has forgotten it, but I still remember. What are you looking for me for?”
