Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 58

I shook my head so hard that the braid that was coiled around my head was threatened to come off. “ We do not establish. He's just my friend?”

Paula let out a voice that sounded like chuckling. “ Really?” tanyakanya. “ I guess that's why he's with you almost every night.”

“ As I said, we are friends. & we have not seen each other for a long time.

Paula raised her next to her eyebrows. “ I may not care about it. or at least I didn't care, until recently, but when I visited the campus I heard palace gossip. The noble disciples, those who carry the gossip, you know. & one of the stories is how the Earl of Rithia & his wife are confused looking for a compatible match for their son.”

Suddenly I felt dizzy for no reason, and a hot hue.

“ A soul mate?” my ul.

“ Girls, young women, marriageable prospects. Strange, considering they did it so suddenly. They said right after the princess returned. As if before they had expected another soul mate, & the plan was ruined.”

“ Me?” my many. “ Do people think Devan's parents want him to marry me? That's…. Sillier. The princess does not marry an earl ... may be a duke, but not an earl, unless she is from a foreign land and brings about a great alliance. Anyway, we just...”

“ Friend,” Paula ends my speech. “ I know. You keep saying it.” He looked at me before saying, “ But, according to gossip, they haven't been lucky. He was polite to everyone his parents introduced, but nothing more. But it has no effect, because you don't love her.”

I glared at Paula, my face and chest still filled with heat waves earlier.

“ True. Well, I told you…. Yeah, we had a fight. She said Di...sang princess..wanted to meet me. & I said she couldn't bring her to see me, I said I didn't want to see her.

Devan says if the princess asks, she has to do it. But he had already avoided circumstances more complicated than this. If you want, he can figure out a way to avoid it.”

“ Then maybe he does not want to,” Paula replied before walking towards the stairs & disappeared from view.

I had plenty of time to reflect on Paula's words, because for the next three days I didn't meet Devan. It was our longest farewell since returning to the city, and even though I was angry with her, my attention was still distracted by it.

I messed up the spell worse than usual, spilled ink, and often tripped until Paula threatened her own who would call Devan home and turn him into a crow if we didn't make up. His eyes flashed with threat as he said them, and that alone was enough to drive away a bit of my turmoil. However, I made up for it by spending my free time daydreaming on the window sill, while gazing towards the palace. At least five times I thought of sending one of the spell messages.

However, every time I raised my hand to bring up a tiny ball of light, I dropped it. I wanted to meet Devan, but I'm not ready to forgive him. While Paula's other accusations are completely ridiculous. We are just friends, like we have been since a long time.

Even so, why does it seem like every time I turn around I always fight with Devan? Before we rarely fought, and only disputed trivial matters. Perhaps, whispered the dissident side in me, you didn't have enough courage before. You're too shy to fight with anyone, even Devan. Or maybe I just turned into an irritable & irritable person, sort of a walking thorny bush. Or maybe, despite my protest at Paula, something changed between me and Devan, turning into a street whose end was invisible to me.
