Alvi's gaze was fixed on me again, but this time with a judging expression. “It seems so. & Sarah's husband's family, well, they're owners of a clothing store in town. They gave her four pieces of a dress as a wedding present, so she left behind some of her old items while leaving. I intend to cut it for Nida's daughter, but if you need it..”.
” Of course,” he said, because he needed that shirt to stay in this village.
I'm not sure if I understand it, but I still nod. It turned out that the clothes I was wearing were too strange to make the children stop in the middle of the road, I didn't care even if Alvi gave me a sack of potatoes to wear, as long as it could make them stop looking at me.
The dresses were indeed simple as Alvi said, one was faded blue while the other was probably green. Both of these dresses were obviously over-fixed. However, it did not attract any attention & that was all I had in mind while trying to wear a blue colored dress.
We left Alvi's house with pieces of my past draped in my arms, and upon arriving home, I folded my old dress and put it in a crate containing my belongings.
While tidying up the cloth, I began to feel panic, my esophagus narrowed until I had to take pains to swallow. When I close the crate all this will be real. I'm going to be Amelia Muller. However, what do I know about Amelia, other than living in a small village in the middle of nowhere and wearing someone else's dress?
I reached out on the lid of the chest, and I could see my hands trembling. For a moment, I thought of escaping, so that closing the chest could have another meaning - the beginning of something, not the end. But where should I go, and what will I do when I get there?
I closed my eyes, a few tears slid over my cheeks, and closed the chest without even looking at it.
Thus began my life in Treb a life in general, totally unprepared for me.
The first few days passed in confusion, as long as I struggled against the blurry flashes of fatigue and shock that accompanied me from waking to sleeping.
I woke up early, forced my body out of the narrow bed we managed to get and took it into the room next to Aunt Vania's bed, then had a rough breakfast with her. Then, depending on the weather & mood, we went to the forest to look for plants to dye the cloth, weed the grass in his garden, or sat behind the house & really started the dyeing process.
I was worried about whatever job she chose for us, because Aunt Vania's irregular teaching techniques made learning something impossible to do.
“ In this part of the forest there are agrimony plants,” said Aunt Vania.
“ Fill this basket with its leaves & stems. Yellow flowers, the leaves are jagged. Don't get it wrong. I'll wait at the lake when you're done picking it up,” she added before leaving, leaving me alone while clutching the basket & staring around in confusion.
It didn't take me long to realize that there was no point in asking Aunt Vania to help me find the plant, and show it to me before I left. All I'm going to get is ***** in-depth & firm, as if I'm the dumbest creature he's ever met.
