Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 43

Maybe some people do not know, or if they have heard the name of the fake princess, they have forgotten it. But the woman in front of me squinted, clearly thinking.

“ Amelia,” she said while turning her face away. “ Where I've heard the name…. Ah.”

The woman patted her chin, watching me. “ I met you when you were a kid. I visited the palace to ask permission to pluck a blood orchid from the park for one of my experiments. In this part of Thorvaldor there is nowhere else that has the plant, it is very difficult to cultivate. You told me where the orchid is.”

The woman glanced at the building I had left and shook her head again.

“ I don't really care about their rules, since the first time also no,” suddenly he said. “ So I'll teach you.”

“ What are you going to teach me?” my many.

“ Magic,” snapped, “ Unless I'm wrong & your brain is as slow as it looks right now. Maybe my appearance doesn't show it, but I'm a master, if it means anything to you. But not for free. I need a copyist. I think while at the palace you learned how to write neatly?”

I'm nodding.

“ & you should also be able to do research.”

” I can do both,” I said amazed.

“ Good. I'm so busy with all my experiments, so I won't have much time for you, but it's better than letting your magic kill you. By the way, my name is Paula. I don't live on campus. For years my family had a house in the city of G, & I felt there was nothing worse than living in a tangle with a group of other witches.”

However, I did not have long to think about because of the hurricane that had just hit me.

“ Do you want to come, Amelia Muller?” impatiently Paula called out to me from behind her shoulder.

This time I did not hesitate to answer. “ Yes,” rattled me, & hurriedly followed him.

That was the story until I was able to stay at Vivaskari for the second time. In return for my duties as a copyist &, in fact, research assistant, half librarian, & doing whatever Paula asked me to do at the time, I was given a place to stay, magic lessons, & a salary of two pieces of silver each week.

The income of an original copyist is not that small, but most copyists don't get magic lessons like me. After all, I had never earned an income myself, and even those two pieces of silver made me almost intoxicated with the income I earned with hard work.

Paula's house is in the Goldhorn district located next to the palace fortress and Sapphire district, and is a province inhabited by wealthy merchants and new rich people who do not have royal titles. The place is not as luxurious as Sapphire but tends to be more respectable than in Guildhall or South Gate.

The house itself consists of three floors. The first floor used Paula to meet her friends and some witches who were willing to accept her eccentric attitude. I learned that Paula wasn't very considered on campus, but there were at least a handful of witches who didn't underestimate her, and sometimes they visited to talk about magic with her.

The second floor is intended specifically for his work, consisting of workspaces & various experimental rooms. The third floor is where the employees live, including me. My room is not spacious but larger than the one I shared with Aunt Vania. Besides me, Paula hired a cook, a butler, a stable boy in charge of two horses, and two servants . However, I am the only resident of the magic house besides Paula.
