Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 75

Devan's face paled. “ You. They'll hurt you.”

“ Us,” I rectified it. “ now you know it too. They're gonna hurt us, or your family, or who knows how much more. The risk is too high, and their fear of defeat is too high.”

I turned around at the end of the step, then stopped. Holding my shoulders, I looked at Devan. I wanted her support, wanted it so much that it felt like a fire in my chest. I will not enter this tangled web of intrigue and power alone, I will do it, if I have to, but I will not. I wanted Devan, my friend, who could always save us before, laughing.

“ I'm not making it up, Devan. I hope..for the sake of the Nameless God. Butno. And I'm scared . Please, you have to trust me.”

Devan lowered his head and closed his eyes, like someone putting a curtain on a house as the storm approached. “ I trust you,” he said gently. Then, while raising his head and looking at me, Devan said it again, more firmly. “ I trust.”

I didn't realize how much pressure I had been carrying on my shoulders all this time, but it was all swept away in a huge wave, leaving me feeling weak and feeble. For a moment, I couldn't speak, but then I cleared my throat and said, “ Well, good. Now we just need to figure out what we're going to do.”

“ You said where is the room?” Devan asked while looking at me from the floor of my room at Paula's house. We left the palace as soon as possible. Inevitably I imagined the spells planted throughout the palace room, all designed to report anyone who talked about the matter to the person I had just seen. Maybe it's ridiculous, but I can't help myself. Fortunately, Paula left me a message telling me she was going to visit a friend in Flower and just come back at night, so no one would care if I spent the whole day with Devan.

“ I was on my way to your room and was walking near a tall bush. You know, where you hid my doll when I was eight.” Devan nodded, a smile making his lips twitch in memory.

Devan rubbed his hands on his hair. “ I think it's room Alex yard.”

“ The scientist?”

Devan nodded. “ But now he is not around. He left a few weeks ago. A trip to research the characteristics of moss Farvasee.” Devan grunts. “ I heard one of the librarians say he received a letter from him a few days ago, and it is likely that he will be there until the fall. After all, that guy is boring. You're barely gonna see him even when you're chatting with him. I don't think he has the guts to make a rebellion.”

I frowned. I know it won't be that easy. Whether anyone used a spell on Riana, she did not do it in her own room. “ Do you think he will allow others to use his room, maybe if they threaten him?”

“ I think he will pee in his pants and pass out if anyone mentions a coup in front of him,” Devan said flatly. “ Most likely the person was only using his room, so no one would see Diana…. Riana. So left...”.

“ Melani and Omar,” I finish his words. “ I know.”
