A concave-shaped room with stone bench steps, all leading to a small stage where the witch spoke. The witches sat scattered all over the room, mostly green-robed Novis, and some blue and purple robes, which were used on the magician's campus according to the magician's level of artistry.
We chose a place in the middle of the room, near a bald man whom I recognized as one of the witches who had visited Paula.
“ Omar is not here ?” Paula asked the man after we sat down. Not expecting to hear his name, I almost fell off the bench in shock. “ What a pity, I thought he had a deal with Leonidas. One of his weak and poor men. Even so, I thought he would come to support her.”
“ Have you not heard?” the man replied, and I remember this man named Arsen Elver. “ Omar go. He left town this morning, went to the countryside to get some fresh air. He said he would stay there at least until autumn.” Arsen shook his head. “ I told him, tenpo today, he looks tense. And now I hear rumors about red pulse fever.”.
I'm not listening, my mind is spinning. Omar left, and just this morning?
Paula shook her head, her face looking shocked. “ I barely trust him,”. “ He didn't say anything to me, you stubborn guy, and I just met him a few days ago. I'm working on some potions, and it might help.”
Arsen nodded, but right at that moment there was a man sitting beside him and he turned to greet the newcomer. After Arsen's attention was diverted, I asked, trying to keep my voice from sounding restless, “ But what is the fate of his experiment?”
Paula grunts. “ Experiment? Omar? For years he had not done any practical experiments. I think the administrative task made him not have time to do it, and after all since the first he was a more thinker type. All his breakthroughs were always untouchable, leaning more towards theory. He left neither a boiling cauldron nor charred fowl feathers.”
“ That's good, really,” I managed to say. “ I mean, it could be that someone entered his room, while he was away, and messed up his experiment. I mean, not accidentally.”
Paula waved her hand in the air. “ Oh, the room must have been guarded by powerful spells. Any important witch would not leave her room in the open on a campus filled with nosy young creatures. No one will be able to enter Omar's room.
Omar must have cast spells that were hard for a Master to break. Even so, I hope he'll let me know. Maybe I should go visit him, bring some new herbs, if we can fix.
Leonidas, the magician who gave the lecture, took the stage below us. When the audience calmed down, I felt my hope was lost. Now we won't be able to enter Omar's room. Had Omar been here, coming and going, we might have had a chance. Maybe one afternoon he forgot to cast his protective spell, or one day forgot to lock the door. However, now his room is locked and will remain locked until he returns in the fall.
