The journey between Atlanta to Kissimme which is 450 miles can be reached about 11 hours, 4 hours from the normal trip, there are some obstacles that are overcome easily by the troops.
Michelle wanted to ride with James but was countered by James who didn't give her a chance. He's driving with the other male doctors, while Michelle has to ride with me.
He got in the car with me and looked upset the whole trip.
"You look upset, you want to go home, not too far away someone can definitely pick you up here." I tease.
"You're kidding Jen. I'm not going home that fast." I smiled broadly. The girl of my age seemed determined even though she was upset.
"alright. Then don't pout. You want to try, I'll give me a little clue. All this time James had actually never responded to the girl who was chasing him. She's anti-commitment, her date's got the same understanding, they're just casual dates. When you go after him he'll stay away, he doesn't like someone pushing him. I think that's the right thing now. The world's condition is still chaotic. You need a lot of things to live a quiet life, even those of us in the military can't go back home."
Now that he was silent, it seemed to be thinking about what I said to him.
"I didn't force her into a family or things go too far like that. I just like it too much."
"If you want to help her stop bothering her, you're still bothering her she'll stay away from you anyway."
"I won't bother him." After that he did not speak anymore. Maybe now he just realized that his departure here was in vain, or maybe he was thinking about changing his strategy. I don't know, he knows himself. But he's already here. Inevitably he had to continue with the task he had asked himself.
We arrived at Kissimmee, fortunately our mess was ready, we entered the city that has been secured at least the hospital building.and the surrounding buildings that we occupy are safe. Osceola Medical Center is a large and complete complex of buildings. We are confident we can handle patients well here.
I finished dividing the dorm rooms.
"Jen I can room with you."
"Well, in my room there's still one unoccupied bed." Looking uncomfortable in his face, I now hope he will return home soon with the first convoy. One room with 8 people.
"You haven't slept in a military dorm, have you?"
"Not yet." Then it'll be a long night for him. "Let's eat I'm hungry." I think another surprise will come. He will eat with potatoes alone, maybe fresh fish, and vegetables, no bread or things he used to eat in Atlanta.
"We eat this?" True to my estimation but today is not potatoes but sweet potatoes and pumpkins and fish wrapped in flour and fried.
"Yes it's a menu of pioneer cities, according to the harvest and what is there. If there is canned food it will be greatly saved.
"How long have we eaten like this."
"Ehm forever...."
"For ever?!" He was shocked, it seems that now he regretted being stranded here. Maybe he'll ask to come home for a week?! I grimaced small.
