"Your first patient consultation Mr. Wilson." I call him Mr. Wilson, after all he's now my boss and he's a senior surgeon.
"You live where Jen is,..." He doesn't call me by that nickname anymore.
"Not far from here..." I answered briefly. He doesn't need to know I live a simple life. I don't want to talk about my life gray.
James Wilson's.
We were neighbors once. He was a close friend of my brother Kenneth Gothard, but he moved in when he was 15.
He continued his senior high school to Massachusetts and pursued his goals of attending Harvard Medical School. His family has a medical background.
He and my brother Kenneth are thin-brained, close friends since they were in elementary school. And I've been tracking where they've been since they were kids. We all have our own calls.
I'm Tootsie!
He's Dickhead!
Brother Pighead!
We are ridiculous.
"Your mother is still with you?"
"Yeah, Mom's fine..." My mom's healthy, but it probably doesn't make any difference whether she exists or not. He lives with me. But never thought I existed.
"You know my brother's dead, don't you." My dear brother has calmed down in heaven there. My brother died in an accident at his 19th age. Which then sent my mother to a period of depression, the use of illegal drugs and other bad things. I almost dropped out of school if my uncle didn't help me pay my school fee.
"I know I didn't get back to London. It was so surprising when I heard it from my mom. I feel sorry..."
"It's been a long time..."
"Your father also died in an accident. It must be very hard on you guys." He looked at me and sympathized.
I hate sympathy. At the age of 15 years I already know the meaning of fighting alone to live. I've started to work anything to finance myself.
"We're doing fine. That's a story to be told." I smile. Seeing him made me think of my brother. He did bring me luck. Maybe you heard my prayer and helped me send this extra source of money.
But if this Dickhead finds out I'm planning to use it as a money mine, he'll definitely kill me.
I'll beg him to forgive me. Problem solved. He's kind-hearted. I grimaced myself seeing the white angel fighting the black angel in my head.
"Doctor Dickson sent it to you because he thought this patient had arrhythmia¹." I just focused back on work. I gave him an ECG chart and showed him the problem.
James looked at the chart I gave him.
"You can read the chart... "
"Of course, I became Dr. trust's senior nurse. Richards and getting a scholarship at 27 was no accident. I studied, observed and asked a lot. You can count on me to help keep an eye out..." He smiled and nodded.
"You're always as determined as you used to be."
"You're right. I don't do average Sir**. If there's anything I can learn and I should know. I'll study it and maybe trouble you with my questions, but you can trust me to keep an eye on a lot of things from the patient, and I'll make sure my observations are never wrong..."
***I don't do average: I don't do ordinary things *
"Hmm, I believe that. Even with your own brother you never want to lose. You always want to win every race first..." I'm silent.
My sister is my mother's pride. And I, who was just a nurse, looked at her one eye without thinking that my tuition fees spent in her depression caused me to have access to a government college loan that could only give me a chance to be a nurse, pay for my own college. And left my dream to become a doctor.
I fought alone to achieve what I wanted. Financing our lives, but for a second he didn't try to appreciate me. His mind was always fixed on the two men he had in his life.
But lately I've been immune. I think without him appreciating me I should respect myself. I'll open his eyes.
"My brother always wins, no matter how hard I try. You just don't know." I answered him with a wry smile. James kept quiet about it.
💙💙💙💙💙
"I asked for her number..." Susan, this beautiful sexy nurse is standing in front of me.
"$100... " I grimaced wide.
"It's expensive..." He glanced at me.
"If you get it $100 will be meaningless... And don't give it to anyone else. As a bonus he will be here soon to take the routine form of checking patients today. You can greet him here. You're lucky..." I sold James Wilson's phone number. In 4 days now three people means $300.
Susan took out two $50 sheets that I received quickly with a big smile. I immediately wrote her phone number on a small note and gave it to her.
"Don't tell me you got it from me..." I made sure I was protected. Susan made an okay sign and locked her lips.
Before long James came to my desk to collect patient data.
"Jen, .. "I gave him my report when he came. And Susan quickly took the chance.
"Mrs. James, I heard you're the new doctor here. Welcome then. I'm Susan.happy to meet you." James looked towards the blonde girl.
"Hi Susan, nice to meet you too." He smiled a little. So formal. Obviously Susan provocatively made an exaggerated gesture of playing her hair and smiling seductively. James didn't take his chance?
Well, it seems he's not interested at all. Maybe his taste is too high.
"Jen's coming with me." she went straight away after retrieving the data and ignored the beautiful Susan.
"Sure." I squinted at Susan who let out a long sigh because she was ignored.
We went to his practice room. There was a young doctor waiting in front of him. Maybe my whole life.
"This is Noah Adamson with Kenneth he's gonna be my intern. Noah, Evan this is Jennifer Gothard..."
I shook hands with him Noah . Her smile expanded on her handsome face as bright as the sun. He looks so fun. I'll bet he's popular in his class.
"It's nice to meet you, Dr. Adamson..." He shook my hand tightly. I returned his smile and shook his hands enthusiastically. I feel like we're going to be a great team.
"Call me Noah, nice to work with you, Jen..." And he seems to be a humble man.
"Okay Noah, we're gonna be a great team."
Many new-to-be surgeons request to be called by Doc at least by the nurses.
"We've got some cases that I want you to help with right away...."
